Personalised Number Plates

I'm not a massive fan of personalised number plates, but I thought that this one I saw last night at the Northwood match on a huge Range Rover was quite clever, if a bit stalkerish. (rubbish photo, was pitch black).

For those who can't see it, it is DR06BA D.

Has anyone here got a personalised number plate that they will own up to? Is it your initials, or something else? How much did you pay for it and do you think it was value for money?

There is an obstacle to me having a personalised number-plate.

I don't have a car.

If I did though, and I also had spare cash flying around after the car, the MOT, the insurance and the road tax... and the fuel... I would look to get something with my initials and an appropriate prefix/suffix.

Our head of PE was called Mr. Smedley. I think his number plate was "V4 SMED". That was quite funny.

Er, yes, of course it was.

GR8 PL8

eugh, bet someone has that.

That's not a possible UK number plate.

About 5 or 6 years ago I was playing 6 a side at Forthbank and in the car park there was a sports car with AN3L S3X as the plate. Probably the best one I've seen.

Neither is that.

Where X is a letter and 1 any number, format has to be either:

XXX 111 X (though the number could be only 1 or 2 digits)

X 111 XXX (as above the number part can be 1, 2 or 3 digits)

XX 0? XXX (where the question mark is a number between 1 and 9)

XX 5? XXX (where the question mark is a number between 1 and 9)

and this year the XX 10 XXX and XX 60 XXX plates came into being.

Older plates with shorter combinations are possible but the one you suggest isn't.

It appears you've been out-analled.

Fair enough....although I didn't say "bet someone in the UK has that" wink.gif

If you want to go down that road...

Here to help :D

At least your G1RUY IS a legal plate.

Am I right in saying that nowadays they avoid issuing numberplates that can be construed as offensive?

I'm presuming that since G1RUY derives largely as a product of the internet, it would have slipped through the gap so to speak.

They certainly don't issue plates now they construe as potentially offensive.

G1 RUY however dates back to about 1989 and would happily have been issued at the time. I don't doubt it's out there somewhere. Most likely somewhere near Livingston it would seem.
