Well the giro is underway after 3 stages in Israel. Dumoulin took the opening Time trial and the last two benign sprint stages have been won by Viviani from quickstep. Rest day tomorrow and then the racing should really begin in Italy.

Brilliant from Mitchelton Scott with Yates allowing Chavez to take the win atop Etna as he had been in the breakaway all day.

Yates looked 'super strong' and now leads the GC standings. Froome and Aru held onto the rest of a small group of leaders about half a minute back.

We could have a cracking race on our hands.

Froome's Giro looks close to being over. Shipped another minutes to the other contenders y/day & is currently 2.27 off the Maglia Rosa.
Must be really missing his inhaler?

Simon Yates's asthma holding up incredibly well this weekend. Great couple of stages from him. Got over 2 minutes going into the TT on Tuesday.

The attack 16km out, against in form Pozzivivo/Pinot & Dumoulin was, as Greg LeMond might put it, unbelievable.

I suppose it goes with the territory in cycling when one shows improvement it is automatically questioned but the way he kicked on today after yesterdays tough stage was staggering.

Manged to gain time on the the pozzivivo pinot lopez and dumoulin group riding by himself.

How much can he have left? even if Dumoulin takes a chunk of time in the TT you would still fancy Yates to gain more time in the 3 mountain stages still to come they way he has been going.

Yates will be wrapped in cotton wool for the rest of the Giro - Dumoulin has to attack in the mountains and he’s not too good at that - the worrying thing is Yates has never been in this position and has admitted he is not a defensive rider - however I think he’s got it and I also think Froome will catch up and get third on the podium

Cult hero  (and personal fave) Adam Hansen is en route to completing his 20th consecutive Grand Tour, currently 56th.

His best ever is 53rd - Come on Eileen Adam! :notworthy:clapping

Viviani reels off his 4th stage win today, seeing off Sam Bennett in the sprint. Not for the faint hearted as it was pishing down.

Wonder if Froome has enough in the tank to have one final make or break attack on Friday or Saturday. Can see him getting 3rd, and possibly give Dumoulin a scare for second place too.

Apparently all ready been told he won't be in the team for the TdF [emoji17]
