The New Raith Rovers Thread

By the looks of it Loy's going to working with our stadium sponsor C&G Systems on the railways (along with just about everyone else in our squad) so it looks like that wage combined with ours would match or beat any full time offer you may be able to give him. Loy himself saying today that it was the toughest season of his career last year and he might've wanted to take a step back from day in, day out football. It's not always as black and white with these things as fans think.

Are Dumbarton the senior club version of Kennoway Star Hearts, Hurlford Ams/Hurlford Thistle?

I would agree it casts doubt on why we are full time. Bottom of the pile for players wanting to go full time and for many part time is a better option.

It's a viable option & has served us very well the past 5 or 6 yrs in the Championship. Aitken has a ft job with Rolls Royce, away from DFC.  Players train twice a week I believe. Combined with their 'working wage' some guys must earn decent cash.

This is a sorry state of affairs now. Can't see us competing with Dumbarton. They're signing guys we need like Loy and Forbes and have a better manager as well.

Maybe this will be the year we'll finally figure out the play offs....

Utterly predictable and depressing.  Dumbarton have made two excellent signings in Forbes and Loy. Those two are both players who have performed at Championship level. We've signed Gillespie who has performed at the level above, Thomson who has had a few questions raised in the past, and Duggan who hasn't performed other than for East Fife.  We've gone out to the press with names, presumably to get some hype going and placate the fans, and so far we've not done anything other than show that a player would rather go to Dumbarton than ourselves. To see us with McHattie back training with us, and to see us linked with the likes of Issac Layne is truly grim.
