  1. MacKenzie Kirk in spite of leaving in mid season almost has to make the team. Cammy Ross also been outstanding particularly in the cup game against East Kilbride. John Robertson surely belongs in this company up front too. Saw Sean Fagan at Albion before his move to EK and he was a real stand out.
  2. Jumping the gun here by a few weeks, but which players would you have making up the team of the season. Feel free just to nominate players from your own team if its too much a challenge to form an all star 11.
  3. Brilliant to see a venture such as this that will benefit the entire community, particularly with some of these listed very worthy groups getting access for free.
  4. You've knocked the wind (and any optimism I had) right out my sails.
  5. Took in tonight's game as a neutral - was bitterly disappointed in Lochee Utd. Just seemed so incredibly lacklustre from start to finish in a match that should have meant so much.........not to take anything away from Broughty who scored 3 without reply, 2 of which were sublime. Have to say one or two of their coaches didn't help - we were over that side of the ground and they were bouncing up and down for 90 solid minutes contesting every single decision - there's a time and a place for that if you're picking your battles, but very little evidence of supporting a struggling team (on the night anyway) with any real substance or tactical guidance. Hopefully it's just a bad day at the office - can't be too harsh on an otherwise superb season, just strange timing to not appear to be up for the fight.
  6. According to Stoneyburn's twitter feed, a 3G pitch is set to be installed at Beechwood Park. A welcome addition - whilst clubs like Lochgelly in EOS 3rd division have played 21 games, Stoneyburn have played the fewest league fixtures with just 14. They have had 6 home league postponements alone thus far this season - 5th Aug (Linton), 7th Oct (Pumpherston), 21st Oct (Hawick), 30th Dec (W Calder), 20th Jan (Linton), and 24th Feb (Livingston).
  7. Are tickets already sold out for the Accies game in midweek? Been checking site past couple of weeks and notice there is a link for the Falkirk game on it which is a later date.
  8. Broughty Athetic v Lochee Utd now confirmed for 27th March at 7:30pm on the Scottish junior fa website. Dates for the Quest quarters also now listed.
  9. What's the full draw for the quarters?
  10. Lochee Utd v Broughty Ath set for Wed 28th Feb at 19:30. Should be a cracker and can't wait to attend!
  11. Depressing stat HJ that's probably the bi-product of an ill informed media within our footballing community, including some ex players. The often quoted misconception that they've 'never seen a good game on 3G' What utter tosh! Maybe if they watched games outwith the top flight, particularly in the non leagues, then they may form a different opinion. I accept the surfaces aren't always easy on the eye at times on tv and not ideal to have them in the top flight in general, but at this level they are invaluable and fans really need to learn to appreciate all the benefits they bring.
  12. Excellent, thanks for this. Here's hoping they both go toe to toe till the end to set up a grand stand finish inc potential play off.
  13. Nearly 6 weeks since I posed this question and still absolutely nothing from the Midlands League. Looking like a midweek March date at the earliest for the first Lochee Broughty game. And who knows re the second.
  14. Not sure I'm seeing much evidence, if indeed any, of Buckie being written off as such. I literally said I had them as winning the league - and indeed that they still might, but I feared for them now due to the amount of games in hand. Yes The scarf thought it might be Brechin's to lose but only because he too realised, quite correctly, that there were so many games in hand. Look it may well happen, I've seen it a couple of times with Auchinleck Talbot who often had so many games in hand in the past primarily due to their cup successes and the like, so it can be done. However, and I appreciate this is very anecdotal, but a neighbour of mine recently gave up playing non league football in is early 30's having played at a very good level for many years. Why? Literally because his calves couldn't take the backlog in the second half of the season - the constant strain of the Saturday/midweek cycle for around three months meant he couldn't go on. This is what Buckie face now. It would be an outstanding achievement if they went on to win the league, and again as I've said, it may very well happen. But fearing that the vast amount of games in hand would likely take its toll is hardly the same as writing Buckie off - it's simply highlighting a realistic concern. Incidentally, with all of the shenanigans in recent seasons of certain League 2 clubs attempting to curtail promotion for tier 5 sides combined with Brechin trying to gain access to the Lowland League, I suspect there wont be too many glum faces (outwith of Brechin itself) if Buckie do indeed go on to win the league. You're very welcome to join the party if that is indeed what materialises.
  15. My sentiments exactly. I suspect Buckie may have won the league (and still might) but all these games in hand are almost certain to take their toll. Also predicting Brora to finish 4th behind BOD once they've caught up with all their games in hand - round about the same time as the A9 dualling concludes!
  16. Excellent informative graphic, he says much belatedly.
  17. Hope you've not inadvertently given the top beaks some ideas for their next license upgrade lol.
  18. I know it's not the preference of players, but at some point the Highland League (and their Local Councils, where applicable) are going to have to learn to embrace 3G surfaces. Great for the community and helping ensure games go ahead in inclement weather.
  19. Is there any talk in Broughty Ferry of the club potentially going for a license in order to participate in the play offs? I know stadium improvements aren't necessarily the be all and end all, but usually floodlights etc are one of the biggest barriers (finance wise) to acquiring a license. With it a being a new floodlit ground I was hopeful that the club were being very proactive this year with a view to getting all paperwork etc in order. If not, here's hoping Lochee Utd can pip them to the title and then the inevitable annihilation against a vey much overmatched Strathspey in the play-off.
  20. So there's a "certain guarantee of relegation", which there obviously isn't, but it's clear that's your very strong held belief. Or is it? As two sentences later you've changed your whole belief of guaranteed relegation to "I personally think it's between us and Elgin to go down". So which of your polar opposite viewpoints was the truth, and which was the lie? And how can it change so drastically within the same paragraph? Genuinely curious.
  21. Under that scenario, 2 would be relegated from the LL to accommodate both Brechin and the champion of the EOS/WOS/SOS play-off. However it's distinctly possible that no team is relegated - ie East Kilbride defeat Elgin City. (using both clubs merely as an example).
  22. Centre half area is vastly improved - Hamilton was just a joy to watch today. Fullback areas, especially on the left - well, less said about that the better! And what's with Dunachie - decent at times but sadly lacking on the old i.q. front. When you have the opponent pinned right back in their own third, with their back to goal no less, stop charging through the back of players and giving away monumentally stupid infringements!!! Second game in a row when the drop off in centre mid when one had to be be subbed was vast. Up front - ball control people.....come on. And need to be more clinical. Need at least 5 players in before Spartans away.
  23. I'm sorry but the quality of players coming in versus those who have been let go is like night and day. You've obviously not seen these players if that is your assertion. And a 6 point gap is hardly insurmountable - there's 19 games to go! Yes relegation is a distinct possibility but McCall has a great eye for a player and by the end of the window he can truly say it's his team and needs the fanbase to be galvanised and 100% behind the team. To write them off when we're only just into January, already upgraded the squad with the promise of more signings to come, is just comical!
  24. Exactly this! Whilst still some work to be done, defensively should be far more solid with the new centre backs. Spine of the team is critical. Midfield could argue has been significantly upgraded too. Leitch will hopefully hit the ground running plus the return of Ray Grant feels like a new signing in itself. New keeper, left back and preferably a striker too and all of a sudden things could be looking up. I note that Elgin are aiming to bring in around half a dozen signings too so will be an interesting good few months ahead.
