  1. Scotland could borrow the format from Rugby Super League here's how it works. Super League regular season(Scottish Premier League) 12 teams compete in Super League. They play each other twice on a home-and-away basis, The team finishing bottom after 23 rounds collects the Super League Wooden Spoon. After the 23 rounds, the top eight teams carry their points forward and play each other once (home or away) in the Super Eights. A play-off series is used to determine the two teams who will meet in the Super League Grand Final to compete for the championship. Super 8's After 23 games the league table is frozen and the teams are split into "Super 8's". Teams finishing in the top 8 compete for a place in the play-offs, and all retain a place in Super League for the next season. Teams finishing in the bottom four (9-12) compete alongside the top 4 teams from the Championship, in "The Qualifiers" Super 8 group. These teams will reset their season standings and also play 7 extra games, as they attempt to earn a place in the following year's Super League competition. Top 8 The top 8 sees the top eight teams in Super League play each other once more home or away with the points they earn in the regular season being carried forward. The further up the table a team finishes, the more home games they will play. Once the teams have played each other once home or away the top team is awarded the League Leaders' Shield and the top four teams enter the play offs to play in the Grand Final. Qualifiers The Qualifiers Super 8s sees the bottom 4 teams from the original Super League table mixed with the top 4 teams from the Championship. The points totals are reset to 0 and each team plays 7 games each, playing every other team once. After 7 games each the teams finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd will gain qualification to the next year's Super League competition. Teams finishing 4th and 5th will play in a Promotion Play-off, dubbed the "Million Pound Game", at the home of the 4th placed team. This game will see the winner earn a place in the next Super League season, whilst the loser, along with teams finishing 6th, 7th and 8th will be relegated to the next year's Championship competition. Championship (Scottish Championship) Regular season The 12 teams compete in the Championship. They play each other once home and away. Two points are awarded for a win and one for a draw. After the 23 rounds the top four teams play the bottom four teams in the Super League in the Qualifiers. The bottom eight teams play each other for the Championship Shield. Super 8's The Qualifiers Super 8s sees the bottom 4 teams from the original Super League table mixed with the top 4 teams from the Championship. The points totals are reset to 0 and each team plays 7 games each, playing every other team once. After 7 games each the teams finishing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd will gain qualification to the next years Super League season. the teams finishing 4th and 5th will play in the "Million Pound Game" at the home of the 4th place team. This one game fixture will see the winner earn a place in the next year Super League season, whilst the loser, along with teams finishing 6th, 7th and 8th will be relegated to the next years Championship competition. Championship Shield The remaining 8 teams in the Championship who do not make the top 8 will carry the points they earn in the regular season forward and play each other once more. The top four teams will then enter a playoff for the Championship Shield. The bottom 2 teams will then be relegated to League 1. Result This format would give every club something to play. It would draw in people in the sense that there club would have something to play. Instead the current boring format. Which nearly everyone hates. Sponsors and TV would be higher as they would see a better tournament. Than currently available.
  2. Information The Atlantic League is a proposed Competition between Countries of Small Leagues. Which has been discussed since 2000. Now Let's say it will happen due to the Big Five Leagues increased places in the Champions League and Revenue. Countries Involved. Scotland Population - 5,42,800 Denmark Population- 5,785,884(2018 Estimation) Norway Population- 5,302,778(2018 Estimation) Sweden Population- 10,161,797(2018 Census) Finland Population- 5,517,887(2018 Estimation) Belgium Population- 11,358,357(Jan 2018 Estimation) Netherlands Population-17,249,632(2018 Estimation) Portugal Population - 10,291,027 Total Population 28 Million people Format I will Say Two Leagues of 16 teams with Domestic Leagues Beneath the Second Division. Teams would be relegated back to there domestic league if they finished in the bottom of the second division. Top two enter the Champions League. Let's say First place in the group stage and second placed place- Third Qualifying round. Third place Europa League a group stage place with the fourth entering the second qualifying position. Yes nations would forfeit there own places. But in the long run to compete against the top five leagues which are surging ahead and will only get bigger. This maybe a worth whild chance to take. At least the gap will be reduced. Games will be at the weekend allowing fans time to travel and clubs a week to rest. Television This new League will bring in much needed revenue compared to the current situation. Where TV revenue is minor. UEFA There is this urban myth that UEFA will not allow cross border Leagues. Technical UEFA can not stop this due to European Union Competition laws. Which rule against restriction of trade. UEFA it already has been discussing a European Super League involving the Big Five Leagues. A two Division Atlantic Leagues with links to Domestic football can proceed with nothing stopping it. The clubs involved would have to unite and remind UEFA of EU Laws that UEFA has to follow.
  3. The league reconstruction proposals would have seen: Three-league structure – 12-12-18 Leagues will be called Premier Division, Championship and National League Top two leagues to split into three leagues of eight after 22 matches then play a further seven home and seven away games Top eight teams to play for title and European places, middle eight to contest promotion and relegation in and out of Premier Division and bottom eight to decide who drops into National League One league body to replace SPL and SFL A pyramid structure for the entire game Opportunities for materially increased revenues coming into the game Substantial redistribution of revenues to lower league clubs Given Scotland poor performance at National and Club level is it time to reconsider this format. The original idea was shelved by two clubs out of 40 clubs.
  4. Scotland keep up the 12 club team structure. But alter it slightly in the sense the top six compete for The championship and Champions league place in a Knock out style tournament. 7-10 compete for a UEFA Europa League place. and the Scottish cup and League for the remaining two spots The Scottish Championship could be extended to 12 teams with Regional League underneath to save travelling and giving Scottish league one and twp are mostly semi-pro or Armature sides this would benefit them.
  5. Scotland has a nation could inplemt to Structures like below. Scottish Premier League of 16 teams. and Adopt the Belgian Play offs. Which would improve the competitiveness of Scottish teams and Nation al Team. Has done well for Belgium. Scottish Championship keep the ten teams or extended by two to make it twelve teams. Underneath this Regional Leagues. AKA North, South and West maybe East Alternatively Two leagues of 14 and Regional Leagues below. Plus maybe an Celtic Cup involving Welsh, N, irish and Southern irish teams including the Scottish premier league teams
  6. Scotland is a Population of 5,424,800 according to 2017 Estimates. And so because of this needs to come with radical and different ideas, Not only to generate competition but interests weather traditionalists like it or not.
  7. Scottish Premier League of 18 Clubs. 34 Games and then The top 16 clubs form four groups of four with the winners and runners-up qualifying for the quarter finals and so forth. The bottom team is relegated to the championship Scottish Championship also of 18 Clubs. Using the same as the Scottish Premier League. The final two teams. One is the the champion and promoted automatically. With the runner up then playing the 17th club in the Premier League for a place in the top league Bottom team is relegated to District/Regional Leagues Semi-pro/Amateur Regional Leagues could contain fourteen teams each with play offs between them to decide who replaces the bottom team of the championship. This format would add interest in all leagues and league to strong Premier and Championship
  8. Scottish Premier League- 14 Teams Format: Top four play for European places including the Title. Middle 8 play for another Europa League place. And the bottom team relegated while the 13th plays 4th, 3rd and 2nd placed teams in the Championship. Championship- 14 Teams Format: 1st Automatically Promotion to Premier. While 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed teams play each other. with the winner facing the 13th from the premier League. Bottom Four Relegated to Sem- Pro First Division. Semi-Pro First Division: 12 or 14 teams Format: Top four promoted. With the bottom four relegated to North and South Amatuer Leagues First Amatuer League North Format Winner Promoted and teams 2nd to 10 th play for Second promotion spot. Bottom Two Relegated. First Amatuer League South Format: Same as North Second Amatuer League: Four Groups of 12 or 14 Teams.
  9. In the championship playoff, each team plays the others home and away again. The top team at the end of the playoff is Scottish Premier champion and enters the UEFA Champions League in the second qualifying round. The second-place team enters the UEFA Europa League in the first qualifying round. The third-place team advances to a one-off playoff match for another Europa League place (if the winner of the Scottish Cup finishes in the top three, the match will instead involve the fourth-place team). The qualifying playoff is split into two groups, with the teams that finished the regular season in 7th, 10th, 11th, and 14th in one group and those finishing 8th, 9th, 12th, and 13th in the other. Each group plays home-and-away within its group. The top two teams from each group then enter a knockout tournament, with each match over two legs. If the Scottish Cup winner is among the top two finishers in either playoff group, it is withdrawn from the knockout playoff and its opponent automatically advances to the tournament final. The winner of that tournament faces the third-place (or fourth-place) team from the championship playoff in a one-off match, with the winner entering the Europa League in the first qualifying round. The bottom two teams from each group then contest a relegation playoff with several steps, centered on a separate four-team knockout playoff, also consisting totally of two-legged matches: The winners of the semifinals advance to the final. The losers of the semifinals then play over two legs, with the winner remaining in the Premier League and the loser dropping to the 1st Division. The winner of the final plays the 1st Division runner-up, and the loser of the final plays the third-place team from the 1st Division, also over two legs. In each case, the winner plays in the next season's Premier League.
  10. A salary cap would work. However you would need to make every country adopt it. If Scotland took the lead to FIFA/UEFA and showed how in other sports such as Rugby League/Union and in other sports those in Australia/United States how it works to improve competitive domestic game,
  11. A salary cap across all Leagues including Scottish would be fantastic. As it generates excitement and competition across every league. Sad it will never simply because big clubs wont to equal.
  12. Adopt the south American formula like Mexico. It would give more interest and competitive football. Especially if it was introduced to every part of Scottish football not just premier league
  13. Great game. I usually pick a team from outside top five leagues. Czech is fun Belgian or Dutch But choose Slovakia this time
