Yup. I asked at the last meet the manager night if he felt the players were understanding what he was telling them, that they could explain back to him and each other what was expected of them. Gary confirmed that they did understand what he asked them to do. Performances indicate that either this was not the case or they understood but declined to implement it for some reason, e.g. his man management.

While Caldwell is obviously not everyone's cup of tea and has signed a few experienced players, I am not sure why he wouldn't fit under the potential new owners. Transfermarkt shows a squad of 20 players with an average age of 25.9 Of those 10 are under 25 A further 4 are under 27 Maybe signings like Miller & Harkins wouldn't be made going forward, but apart from that I feel that Caldwell could adapt to what the new owners would want. He does come across well at the Meet the Manager events, and explains his methods convincingly, although the Alloa result was a poor start to the season.

Surprised he hasn't been snapped up already. Probably just rejected a massive contract in China and is mulling over offers from several clubs. Athletics clubs, mainly.

Leaving aside the keepers this is how I see it: O'Ware - Based on performances at Morton and pre-injury for us a very good player, able to chip in with a few goals McGinty - Hopefully plays like he did in the majority of games at the end of last season when he got back in the team. Can get caught out, brings the ball forward well from the back. Still think he can improve to being better than bang average. Saunders - Mainly solid if unspectacular. Currently seems an average player, good squad player Penrice - Played every minute last season I think? Not tearing the place up, but still young and probably not playing in a position he is best suited to. Williamson - No idea yet. Robson - By most accounts an enthusiastic squad player. Cover for Penrice. Likely pretty average at best. Gordon - Had a good impact on the results when he was in the team, scores goals. Better than average in my opinion. Bannigan - Not back to his pre-injury heights, but much better than bang average. Could play for any team in this division and a fair few in the premier. Cardle - If he can stay fit he looks like a class act, poses problems for defenders and scores goals. What's not to like? Harkins - Has some nice touches, maybe a 45 mins at most player. Still has some skills, nae pace. Overall, slightly under bang average based on last season. Slater - A bit Sean Welsh-y. Sees a lot of the ball, gets caught on the ball a fair bit. Some games pretty good, some games pretty rotten/anonymous. Bang average or slightly better. Miller - Who knows what he will do at this age, but he has a decent footballing brain and is a former international. Will argue with the ref. Mansell - I think he is still a punt, but has the raw attributes to score a few goals in this division and give a few defences a hard time.

Seeing as we have no strikers, I wouldn't have thought this was an either/or situation. Boyd would be unlikely to play 90 mins every week even if we were only going with 1 up.

Started off tremendously, then looked a bit creaky at times. Terrible distribution. Definitely steadied the defence though.

Storey's? I think we should. It would give me the fear just seeing anyone in that number 19 shirt. Seriously though, I disagree with retiring any shirt number. Surely players should aspire to wear the number 5 shirt of Billy McNeill at Celtic or the 9 shirt of Kris Doolan at Thistle.

Hopefully Coulibaly has a cracking game then.
