  1. Airdrieonians off season thread 2017

Quite surprised by that given it seems it's the only way Ayr seem to have been promoted over the last decade...
  2. Willis Furtado, is he any decent lads? Apparently we're going to take him off Airdrie.

I'm not too bothered by McKay struggling against Shankland. He's getting so much game time at the moment, it wouldn't surprise me if he's learning and improving every game. The lad has been excellent and has the right frame to be able to go on. Hopefully he has the mentality and workrate to be able to keep moving forward. His role in the first goal in the game against East Fife was excellent. If he keeps up at this rate, and works on his physique, I can see him being similar to Bene.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was McHattie tbh. I'm far more comfortable with Murray at left back.

    John Baird mk 2 please

I'd be delighted if we get either of them back. Zanatta would add width which we're sorely lacking (he's only been gone one game), and Craigen offers both creativity and a goal threat. There's a lot of names being floated about at the moment, but very little from the club ourselves. Guess the transfer window just brings the speculation naturally.

I liked Moon as a player, but as mentioned he was utterly ruined by the fact he's so frail. He was fantastic for the first 6 months when he signed, and looked to be a solid signing, but then was injured a lot of the time for the remainder of his time with us.

Doesn't surprise me. I only remembered when we came back and found them this season. Strange considering we've had them on our mantelpiece for 30 years now...

That'll be the posts on the East Fife v Raith thread, where met as a matter of coincidence in the league. Every single Rovers fan I know, all of them on this forum (barring a few old heids who were alive back when things like the Soviet Union was still a major superpower) know that the Fife Derby is between Raith and Dunfermline. Your club is irrelevant to us. Now go back to whatever you bumpkins do on a daily basis.

Seemed a nice lad and the best of luck to him. Glad he's got a club now as it was ridiculous how many people kept asking if he might come back, despite the fact he wasn't up to the standard of the Scottish Championship. Hate to break it to you but you're not our rivals. Your team are about as relevant to us as Cowdenbeath, Burntisland Shipyard and Kirkcaldy YM.

Tbf, I think if you're looking at iconic finals we're more likely to get referenced for upsets. You'd probably point to the 5-1 Hearts-Hibs game and the 3-2 win for Hibs over Rangers. 27/11 will always have a lesser place to me as I was only 5 at the time, so I don't really look on it as a glory period for me or try to lap it up if I'm talking to people about Rovers. It's undoubtedly an excellent achievement and one of the more remembered cup finals in Scottish football from within my lifetime but I'd far rather talk about seeing 16,000 Rangers fans streaming out after the diddy cup final. Nobody cares about the diddy cup, but it was a key moment in the banter years of Rangers, and we rocked up with an utterly dross team and beat them much to the despair of their fans. There's nothing better than sitting chatting at the football with your mates about days out like those and everything that happened.
  12. East Fife V Raith

    Not surprised in the slightest.
  13. I'd far rather we ran with Thomson left back, Watson right back and Murray and McKay in the middle. We've used it before, and while it limits Thomson, it's far better to have Robbo in the middle.
  14. The New Raith Rovers Thread

Glad it hasn't dragged out. No doubt folk will end up referencing his name in a couple of years time when we're looking for bodies.
  15. The New Raith Rovers Thread

Yeah. We've seen it before both for us (McKinnon re-shaping his team with Connolly, Panayioutou and Longridge) and against us (The Pars signing Hardie and Rutkiewicz) in title or promotion races. I suspect the board are aware how much is at stake and considering the options. Connolly really would be a superb signing. Can only imagine he's improved in his time down south. With that said we're very much speculating at the moment. Even getting Zanatta back would make a huge difference. As mentioned, Barr was the only outlet out wide last week. With two wingers I think we might have done a lot more damage.
