  1. Yeh, well that's what a forum is for. I don't make many predictions, but Benburb have impressed me this season so I'm confident enough to make that one. Benburb have Wullie McLaren - therefore they will win the league.
  2. Always look forward to every game Forth play ! Given where they were last season Gow have made a tremendous job of rebuilding their squad and will be odds on favourites to win the game. Having said that every team should be competitive at home so looking forward to a tight match.
  3. Gow to win - all other games could go either way...
  4. There is precedent for reserve teams in lower leagues - Stranraer and Annan reserves play in the South of Scotland league. I suspect however this is a historical geographical quirk.
  5. Forth defending was not good and they were poor for first 25 mins. Lanark were clinical and deserved 2-0 lead.Kerr and Watt are the best strike force in the league. For the rest of the game Forth were the better team and created some clear cut chances but the third goal against the run of play right on half time gave them too big a mountain to climb. Justice done with the pen as it was never a foul. Lanark, Gow and Ashfield looking good for promotion.
  6. They did ok against Forth last week. Left winger (McClymont ?) excellent. Strangely for a young team they ran out of steam in 2nd half losing a 2-0 lead to get beat 3-2
  7. What’s the planned timeline for lifting the licensing embargo ? How many clubs are “licence ready” now and being denied benefits of being licenced due to the embargo ? It has to be lifted immediately. It’s like making your own citizens apply for a visa and then taking away the ability to apply. It’s bonkers - pyramid will only work properly once full unrestricted licensing in place.
  8. The most unusual thing about this game is that Gary McMullen scored a goal !
  9. Think it’s a straight 3 up 3 down but not 100% sure. Plenty of Clydedale derbies next season. Must be a while since Lanark, Forth, Carluke and the Gow have been in the same league.
  10. My fervent yet forlorn hope is that at the end of this process all semi-professional clubs will be licenced as part of the pyramid structure resulting in a slow but sure transition to people supporting their local team. This will go some way to redressing one of the biggest problems in scottish football - fans travelling from all over Scotland to watch the Old Firm. Both clubs support is significantly bolstered through fans following due to their so called religious faith when in fact the vast majority of them have no religious faith at all. If ,over time, support for clubs shifted to a geographic rather than a religious base Scottish football would be much stronger for it. I would love to see my hometown club of Carluke get a licence and be part of the Scottish Cup. The town has a population of 15,000 and based on that could in theory be a viable club in a higher league if the community got engaged and followed their local team. I’d say the goes for all juniors clubs. I doubt however it will ever happen...the pull of the Old firm is too strong.
  11. Everyone seems to be assuming a new WOSFL is going to happen but how easy is it to set up from a league from scratch to be operating within the pyramid for 19/20 season ? Someone, or some group, need to have a plan to make it happen and then deliver that plan. Unless there have been clandestine get togethers to organise all there is at the moment is a blank sheet of paper.
  12. There has been much talk of a totally new west of Scotland league for season 19/20. Is this an official proposal as yet or just talk ? If such a league is constituted from scratch key question is how many teams from SJFA west or even amateur leagues join. Depending on superleague take up it may be an opportunity for lower league clubs in the West region to step up. Examples could be St.Rochs, Gartcairn and Rossvale.
  13. If Well can reach top 6 and Scottish cup final Robinson must be in with a shout for manager of the year
  14. Go on to the Airdrie P&B forum and ask their fans how well the recent full time model worked for them.
