  1. The worry is that up here when we became disaffected with the establishment parties, we had the SNP to turn to. In England other than Tory or Labour they have only the Liberals and Greens. Other than that its all UKIP, BNP, etc. If a snap election is called, as Boris has suggested, there could well be a big swing towards such parties.
  2. Different Morton team each half comprising 4/5 first team players, 4/5 development squad boys and a couple of trialists. Pretty comfortable throughout and all the players on trial mentioned in the Tele the other night looked decent but hard to tell against the level of opposition. Bounce game, nothing more.
  3. Forbes was slated by Dunfermline as being a lazy player. If you watch the third goal v Hibs, you can see how "lazy" he is. Wins the ball in our own half sends Barr away then runs the length of the park to get on the end of his cut back to score a beauty. He has been one of our most consistent players albeit his form shaded a bit in the last couple of months. Against Hibs though, although with O'Ware, McKee and Barr, he was immense!
  4. I went on a weight loss regime last year and got the original Microsoft Band primarily as a fitness tracker but it does all the usual stuff like show (partially) emails, text messages, etc, etc. It was a bit clunky and unattractive and so when the Band 2 came out, I took advantage of Microsoft's trade in offer and upgraded to that. Its altogether more attractive and a better fit on the wrist. I see it primarily as an aid to my weight loss campaign and it has something like 11 fitness sensors and GPS. It works best with a Windows phone but is perfectly good also with Android or IOS. The main difference is that you can use voice commands to Cortana on a windows phone with is not available on other platforms. I am happy enough with it but not something I could justify without my personal fitness tracking requirement (3 and a half stones gone so far with another 1 or 2 still targeted)
  5. He is not particularly fondly remembered at Cappielow either!
  6. Good luck to you guys next season. If its any comfort, this time last season, Morton had 4 signed players, two of whom were keepers. The much maligned Jim Duffy managed to assemble a squad that just about did the business in the end, including a couple of inspired moves in signing and then getting back Declan McManus plus swopping Barrowman for Forbes. Generally though, a number of his lower league signings have improved and might make decent championship players and he has now got rid of those that most of us thought would not. It can be done. As for scrapping your youth system/under 20s, that would not be a good move in my opinion but you do have to see at least a couple of first team players coming through regularly now.
  7. I see Morton have apparently released Jamie McCluskey which is a slight surprise. He is a wide right player and pretty tricky (nicknamed "Jinky" at Cappielow). He can be a bit of a sand dancer in terms of multiple step overs and beating the man twice but he is not a bad player overall at league 1 level. He probably would have found the championship maybe a big step up but he is better than anything I saw in Dunfermline shirt last season in the wide areas. Could do worse.
  8. Desperate season for you guys. Hopefully you join us in the championship next season as everything about your club says SPL except the team.
  9. Its been a decent couple of seasons for Raith but on making a profit, if any "traditional" championship club could not do so in last season with Hearts Hibs and Rangers in the league plus the increased league payouts, something is wrong. Next season promises to be nearly as good with at least three of St Mirren, Motherwell, Rangers and Hibs (and maybe all four if Queens win the playoffs which is not outside the realms of possibility!) being guaranteed to be in the league. For fulltime clubs to make a profit in League 1 though is next to impossible unless they have substantial non core income. Staying fulltime in this league is always a gamble on getting back up which this season Dunfermline have lost big time and Morton still could!
  10. Ross Forbes in today's Greenock Telegraph saying he feels Duffy is playing him in his best position - central midfield - and therefore getting the best from him. He says he feels that he was continually played out of position at Dunfermline and therefore did not do as well as he feels he could have. I thought he was regularly played at centre mid with the Pars - am I wrong?
  11. I think yesterday proved your point about opposition forwards getting forward. Both Morton's fullbacks scored and in fact our left back (Mark Russell) and left mid (Stefan McCluskey) absolutely tore the right side of Dunfermline's defence a new one. What really struck me though about yesterday is that everything about the Dunfermline infrastructure including attracting 2700 to a game after a crap season crys out Premier League. On the park though is a team that struggles to justify League one status. I have been following Morton for over 50 years and that is the worst Dunfermline side I have ever seen! I feel for their fans.
  12. Was just look at the report on BBC for the last match for Morton against Forfar at Cappielow. The league table at that point was after 12 games. Forfar led with 22 points, Morton and Dunfermline were on 21 and Stranraer on 20. Since then, Morton have had 30 points from 15 games, Stranraer, 29 from 15, Forfar 23 from 14 and Dunfermline 16 from 15. It would seem that Jeffries was doing significantly better than Potter. 16 Points from 15 translated to a whole season is play off spot territory.
  13. Ages of Morton team that started v Stirling on Tuesday: Gaston 27 Kilday 23 Crighton 24 Milojevic 24 Russell 19 Forbes 27 McKee 22 O'Ware 21 McCluskey 24 McManus 20 Caldwell 21 Subs MacDonald 34 McCluskey 27 Lamie 21 Scullion 19 Adam 23
  14. Just a wee update for Pars fans. Forbes had another good game last night v Stirling. Since joining he has had 8 starts during which we are undefeated with 20 points from 24. Just saying!
