  1. Your correct Sloop, the area around KGV has been earmarked for the 'learning hub' as part of the Dumfries Learning town proposals. Early plans suggest a reasonably sized facility with perhaps hundreds of pupils using the resource daily - may present increased marketing opportunities for Queens in time, or even revenue from school / council use.
  2. Haggis, bacon and red onion on a thin crust base with a bit of mozzarella and a wee touch of Stilton is amazing if making my own or pimping a shop bought pizza. Correct balance of ingredients needs sussing out, as does a slightly lower cooking temperature, but once mastered is pretty tasty.
  3. Lets put things in perspective. Where does McIntyre sit compared to McPherson and Johnston? At the beginning of the season is was very Gus-esque, though the football was slightly better to watch. Still a number of players out of position, debatable formations and a worrying league position. As the season has progressed, as many have pointed out, things are moving slowly towards the Johnston level of performance and best use of players. Of course it's not there yet, and may never do so, but that's the expectations of many Queens fans. And I don't think it's wrong to have higher expectations but that has to be tempered against the fact this is McIntyres first season at Palmerston. He is making decent progress - eventually - and I hope it continues with a play off place. That's a fair ask of this with the players he has inherited. I've not been his biggest fan, but he's slowly winning folk round, including myself. So where is he between Johnston and McPherson on the 'like ability' scale? Somewhere in-between for me.
  4. Had a similar bet on but with Chelsea instead of Burnley. 20 quid well invested, a good start to the new year!
  5. Right enough, has to be completed on the night. A win via penalties will suffice.
  6. Bring it on. Was at the Annan game on saturday and Rangers, should they play as they did at Galabank, are there for the taking. With it being at ibrox I'd expect a much improved Rangers, but I travel in hope. A draw would be fine.
  7. Delighted with Carmichael re-signing. Clark should do well enough, and Rome should be a good fit for the reserves and 19's - onwards and upwards...(well, downwards really, but more optimistic about coming back up next year. Kind of.)
  8. Alan Johnston could be a realistic option. Pardon my ignorance, but has he done his badges and the likes? Has he an interest in management? or is coaching his forte?
  9. Ok, so most of us acknowledge that McPherson should go. I, personally, don't care that he's only had one season at the helm, the 'product' is pathetic. Another year or two of McPherson will maybe ensure second division survival. Great. Brilliant. Super. Don't know about the rest of the Queens fans, but I like the first division. I'd like to go back there sometime. I think thats our level, and we are underachieving otherwise. Thats not arrogance, just my feeling. A spell in the second is a dose of reality, but we need to learn from it. Taking into consideration our catchment area, demographic etc. etc. the first division is where we should be. Well done to the Ayr's and the Raiths fro showing us how it can be done. Now, heres the question - who is the manager to take Queens forward? Answer on a postcard please...
  10. I think I've been spoiled so far with my wee one. 6 weeks old on Monday. For past 2 weeks she has went down at roughly 10 pm, wakes for a feed about 3am then up again about 7 am, just as I get up for work. She rarely cries, only agitation when she's hungry. Have I struck it lucky? Has anybody had a similar kid and seen the early patterns remain or will this go Pete tong and I'll get a huge serving of feck-you-this-is-what-real-parenting-is-about from my daughter? Also, at the 6 week stage do you think it's ok to let them sleep as long as they wish? Or better to wake them to continue a more structured feeding pattern? Cheers.
  11. Mortgages - I'd really appreciate some help from anybody with a bit of knowledge in the area. I've made an appointment with an advisor but won't see them until next week so any assistance in the meantime would be spot on. My wife and I are looking to upgrade to a more family friendly house. We went to see one today, which is actually through a friend-of-a-friend kind of thing. The house is ideal. They are looking to sell quick-ish. House valued at about 200k, but willing to accept 185k. In hypothetical terms, after we sell out house , pay solicitors fees etc. we should have 30-35k as a deposit. When getting quotes do you use the house value (200k) or the amount you have agreed (in principle) to buy at (185k)? This will have pretty big issues in LTV percentages etc. and whether we put down a 15, 20 or 25% deposit - Ideally I'd like to keep the monthly cost down to a minimum. If it was the 200k value, and we agree 185k, does that leave a 15k 'gap', where, if possible, I need to add 35k to the deposit to ensure a 25% deposit, therefore getting a better rate? Or do you simply use the figure you pay for the house? I'm not too clued up on the whole mortgages business, and as stated, advice would be greatly appreciated.
  12. Congratulations new dads and families. Hope all goes well. Best of luck! (I say this as I've been up all night trying to settle my one...lol)
