Clarify your assumption which, according to yourself, you're not supposed to assume? That would be a tricky one...

Well presumably they have shown they are working towards it. If not, do they get expelled at some future point?

Aye, well, at least Coleraine and Ballymena* are still in the top flight, look at Ards, Bangor, Distillery, famous old Irish League clubs. Newry City have gone bust twice(?). Spend money and have your day in the sun, followed by years in the shade, or don't spend money and watch enviously. * This may not hold true for next season... -

Both Ballymena and Coleraine have had considerable sums poured into them over the years, although I agree not the way Larne have. There was no plan or strategy about how to spend it, or sustain it. It will be interesting to see if Coleraine's new owners can waken the "sleeping giant". Somehow I doubt it. -

Northern Ireland Football League 2023/24
Jacksgranda replied to Jacksgranda's topic in Misc Other Fitba Chat
Larne deservedly retain their title - barring a 17 goal swing in goal difference in the last games - after last night's 1-1 draw at Windsor Park. As @hatchetman says . not a classic, but a good watch. Linfield started like a house on fire, and no quarter was given or asked in the opening exchanges. Larne got a toehold in the game and slowed things down, and of course, Linfield then scored, own goal I think. However, Larne seldom wilt, and they got an equaliser before the break from a silly penalty. Larne had the upper hand in the second half, not allowing Linfield to play their pressure game, and held on, I wouldn't say comfortably, but they held on. So congratulations to them, hard luck Linfield, have to concentrate on winning the cup, dress rehearsal on Saturday. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cw59q1x5qwro https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/videos/c1ejw3pxvglo Larne's achievement puts the likes of Coleraine and Ballymena to shame, 1 title between them. -
Having ploughed through Paisley's Wikipedia entry - not something I thought I'd ever write - you are correct. I apologise. It doesn't say when he was a member, he certainly wasn't a member in my time here - 51 years. I imagine he left it about the the time he founded his Free Presbyterian Church, but that's just a guess on my part.

Paisley wasn't an orangeman so I doubt that very much. As far as I'm aware, Togo and Ghanain orangemen have participated in the Belfast 12th July parade.

Everton are quite liable to lose to those two, too. Burnley - Manchester United A, Newcastle United H, Tottenham Hotspur A, Nottingham Forest H Luton - Wolves A, Everton H, West Ham A, Fulham H Nottingham Forest - Manchester City H, Sheffield United A, Chelsea H, Burnley A Everton - Liverpool H, Brentford H, Luton Town A, Sheffield United H, Arsenal A Before last Saturday I would have said Luton were quite capable of picking up 9 points from those set of fixtures - and I still wouldn't bet against them - Everton would need to ensure 3 of those points aren't against them. Everton ideally would need to beat Brentford and Sheffield United to ensure safety. Still nervy times ahead, I fear. -

Not necessarily, if Larne win, or it's a draw, Larne retain the title, even Linfield are unlikely to overturn a 17 goal defecit in the event of a draw. However, if Linfield win it goes to the last game, with Linfield needing a win and hoping Coleraine do them a favour at Inver Park, by taking points off Larne. My (metaphorical) money's on Larne. -
