  1. If what you say about Green is true (and there is plenty of info that may suggest he is as ruthless as that,) then rangers are completely screwed. A messy war will only just be starting between the two parties and which league to play in will be the least of their worries.
  2. Yet another example of ranger's fans arrogance and cluelessness was that historian guy on news night. Many of them still do not understand the severity of the situation.
  3. Well done the youths! Great achievement getting to the final. Anybody agree that one of the main reasons we're in this mess is very poor preparation last summer? The whole thing was a mad rush. Late appointment of manager Late signings of players A complete joke of a pre-season fixture list. In fact it could be said that the start of our competitive fixtures were in fact our proper 'pre season.' I understand the financial reasons for delaying the above but IMO it was delayed too long. Gus has been far from perfect since but he/we started with a disadvantage IMHO.
  4. I'm a Glasgow doonhamer and would be happy to help!
  5. I think one thing we can all agree on is that things are looking up both on and off the pitch. Lets try and move forward together with a bit of optimism! Two great signings by Gus. As for the ticket prices, not surprising really. £17 still sickens me every time I part with it. But this is a problem with football in general and not one I blame on Queens. At least when we part with our hard earned cash we can be more satisfied than before that it will be spent in the right way, not to mention the pleasing fact that youngsters can rightly get in very cheaply again.
  6. Totally agree with the sentiment in the above posts. I don't expect to be blown away by any of the signings we make this close season. But I will trust in Gus and I am pleasantly surprised by a couple of the names on the training list. I suppose one way we could possibly sign some 'better' players is if Gus used the salary earmarked for two players on just one. Doesn't look like that is going to happen but you never know, I suppose it depends how many put pen to paper early.
  7. It was said partly in jest but SD I totally agree with your post. Bowey is one of my favourite Queens players in the time I have watched them! I still treasure with all my heart the photo of the two of us paeshd in Jumpin Jaks. I do agree with you re Simmons. Not a signing that excited me initially but if Gus is that happy I'll be happy with it too! re Weatherston I guess there must be some serious doubt now over him signing for us. Definitely a weapon at this level and perhaps even more so next season given the type of football we may be playing and also the quite possible lowering of quality of the division.
  8. The board can surely not be so daft as to appoint Connolly purely based on his past success with us. If they do appoint Connolly then it must be because he has impressed them with whatever plan he has in place. In that case I would support them, and him as much as I possibly could. I do not believe that Chisholm is right for our situation. In different circumstances I wouldn't mind seeing a gamble with the likes of Scally/JT/Main. But with the SPL2 thing coming up now is not the time for a gamble so one of those appointments would disappoint me the most. Having said all that I will certainly support whoever is appointed. I think we have to give them a chance and give the board the benefit of the doubt with their selection process.
  9. No. I hope brian reid is going to QOS. Until now it would have been a step up, thats for sure. But with such big cuts happening that is perhaps no longer the case.
  10. Please no! If thats the only two choices then just give it to Scally FFS!!
  11. To be fair to the board most managers have not left queens expressing frustration at having to deal with them. Even McCall's complaints were mainly just financial. Brannigan must have played his part in the breakdown of the relationship. What is terrible is the general handling of the situation. There was absolutely no need to wait this long, this saga could have been ended a while back. To be honest if Rae has not been waiting for the Ayr Utd playoff to end then the new manager should have been appointed way before now.
  12. Clearly we're not going to be able to outbid any other clubs with these new contracts. So the only way a player is going to sign with Queens now is if he wants to come for another reason, eg. Wants to work under the manager, happy training in Glasgow (or Dumfries?!?), wants to play with fellow colleagues etc. We can't offer answers to any of these questions while many other clubs can. Nobody in their right mind is going to sign for queens when they don't know who the manager is, where training is going to be or (give me strength!) whether we're FT or PT. So any club which offers the same money or perhaps even slightly less is going to get the player's signature. Next season is a tall order in any case, so we need to be getting a manager in at the very least who can start to plan! Lets just hope that Rae is waiting until after the Ayr Utd playoff. Otherwise this is becoming a shambles! Any truth in this rumour that Brannigan is to become no2 at Falkirk?
  13. Brannigan almost certainly gone, in bbc report... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13461781.stm
  14. I would still be pleased to see KB return as manager. Apart from anything else, we don't have the money to get a big name replacement. With the SPL2 uncertainty now is probably not the time to gamble on a new/young manager. Why would we move training to Carlisle? This is an interesting rumour.
  15. Colin McMenamin on twitter saying he is talking to other clubs. When asked if there was any chance of resigning with Queens: "Doesn't look likely, still heard zero from Palmerston." If we're so skint that we absolutely must save two weeks wages, (ie. from contract expiry to mid July,) why can't we just say to the guys we'd like to keep, there will be a contract for you in mid July if you want it? Oh yeah, because we don't have a manager who can decide who to keep.
  16. If a new manager was being put in place this week, he could have identified if there was one or two players he wanted to keep. That would at least give us the chance to make offers to them, albeit on reduced terms, so they at least know they're still wanted at queens. Of course, most will move on to better money. But who knows, there may be one or two willing to sign on reduced terms. Perhaps mcmenamin for example? Undoubtedly we are holding off on all of this to save money, but surely some of the budget can be used to sign a manager sooner rather than later?! I suspect that everything hinges on the SPL/championship announcement. They even want to hold off on the manager because if there's a guaranteed future income increase, they can get someone of better quality in. But SD speaks a lot of sense re the manager. A new man coming in before now could have had the last couple of games to assess the squad, assess
  17. I think they deliberately don't publish online on the same day the paper is being sold. Annoying for us folks not in Dumfries though. I think, you know, we're going to wait until all the decent personnel are signed up, you know, and then make our decision. You know.
  18. So decent they could stay but on reduced terms?!
  19. I'm not trying to deflect deserved criticism from the board, but I do feel quite hurt by the team's last 3 performances. Even if they know they are leaving, they owe it to the club and fans who have been paying their wages to at least put a decent shift in until the end of the season. The lack of fight at the cup final was extremely embarrassing, especially with so many floaters there. But to react in the manner we have is verging on unforgiveable. I never thought I would say this but I'm struggling to find the motivation to even go and see these players off at the final game. I know that the overall mess has been created by the board, but these players are privileged enough to have been paid full time (and decent in many cases) wages for playing football, and this is how professional they act towards the fans. It's disgraceful.
