  1. No. Nor Fraser. Welsh was targeting the first game back after the split though, will he have made it or will it be back to 6 weeks away?
  2. Rae went to uni in Germany and is fluent in German. He also makes a concerted effort to learn how individual player names are pronounced. Would much rather that than Clive Tyldesley pronouncing things the way he thinks the audience want to hear.
  3. I'd rather we continued down our path of signing guys none of us have heard of from English clubs rather than started fishing in the Scottish lower leagues where the competition for signatures amongst premiership clubs is greater which drives up wages.
  4. I think it's worth trying even if they are very late to the party. Free to air will probably be ITV4 or Channel 5 though. Also, Zafar Ansari has packed it in age 25 to become a lawyer, or a lecturer or something. He probably didn't stand up to international level in his brief career and was unlikely to be considered again until the next away Asian tour. Doubt the guy's short of a few quid either.
  5. I definitely think we'll be looking for another striker with the amount of times we've either started with or switched to 3-5-2 this season, and as you say one of the strikers has ended up being Amoo or Erskine, neither of whom are suited to it. It'll be interesting to see what the plan is for Nisbet, he hit a bit of a bump in the road this season, by not doing very well at Ayr, and McLaughlin seems to have outperformed him in the dev league as well. He might get a couple of games between now and the end of the season if 4th becomes unattainable though.
  6. Last 2.5 days in this job and I have almost nothing to do (as the amount of posting I’ve been doing on here last few days testifies). Unfortunately Sporcle and Geoguessr are blocked on work computer- any other suggestions for time-killing game / quiz sites that I can try that might have sneaked through IT?
  7. I think Edwards is good, but even one of the club tweets saying why he was on the shortlist said something like “he outran every opponent he faced” which is a tremendous endorsement for a 10,000m runner but less so for a footballer. He’s not as good at breaking up play as Osman, not as good at passing as Welsh or Fraser, and doesn’t create or score anywhere near as much as Erskine. However, his energy and workrate are good in games where we don’t have a lot of the ball (like Azeez’s strength and pace).
  8. f**k sake Christie, making me edit my post. Made a non-serious post a couple of years ago about booking the day off work after for his testimonial vs a Newcastle XI in 2021 but there's probably a > 50% chance it happens now.
  9. and of course his first game is @ Vikings...
  10. Gone for the Umi Z as was in EU stock, should be here Friday according to tracking. Guess the next thing will be sourcing a case and maybe cables, can nick into town and go to Maplin on Saturday. It's got Dragontrail Glass, which seems a positive though.
  11. Squad under contract for next season assuming we don’t get Keown back and we sell Lindsay- both of which are more likely than not. Cerny, Scully Dumbuya, Booth, Penrice, Devine, Elliott Osman, Barton, Bannigan Edwards, Erskine, Lawless Doolan, Azeez, Nisbet Out of contract: Elliott, Welsh, Fraser, Amoo, Wilson, Ridgers I think the last 3 will go and don’t think there’ll be much uproar about that. I’d like Elliott to stay (edit: I'd like a soapy titwank off Alison Brie if this is how we're getting things done) and I’d offer Welsh a deal though he might look elsewhere if he’s wanting guaranteed games. Fraser might get a similar deal to Welsh 2 years ago til the end of August, but he’s also got the additional problem of the competition for places in midfield… this is of course assuming Bannigan is the player he was before his injury. I think we’d need 2 centre halves, one left sided, to allow Barton to maybe flit between midfield and defence, and at least 2 attacking players- someone who could play up front and out wide would be ideal as it would help when we switch between 3-5-2 and 4-2-3-1 during games. Plus Elliott as general cover and another centre mid if neither Welsh nor Fraser stay. Of those only under contract for 2018 (everyone bar Doolan, Barton, and Erskine) I’d –obviously- like to see Cerny extend his stay in the summer but there’s question marks over most of the rest in terms of injury, or form shading slightly this season.
  12. Think Erskine probably deserved in ahead of Edwards, more goals and assists (edit: and I'm sure one of those guys on twitter who does the SPFL advanced stats has him very high up in the whole league on chances created), probably didn't help him that when he was playing well at the start of the season the rest of the team were playing badly. Still, nice to have the problem about who to leave off the POTY shortlist rather than "well, he was OK I suppose".
  13. Also does Edwards have a case of the Dukes, as he's sitting on a chair whilst others are sitting on rocks? I suspect Doolan will win it but he didn't score in the league until the end of October. He's been pretty impressive since then especially with all the talk of the milestones, he fairly breezed through the last 5 goals.
  14. Player of the Year vote up now on the website, 6 candidates are Barton / Booth / Cerny / Doolan / Edwards / Lindsay I'd probably go Barton- Cerny- Lindsay top 3, not really sure why Booth is there at all.
  15. 1 will depend what difficulty level you're playing on. Think on default meditation restores full health (tho obvs not if you're being battered about the head when you try and meditate) but if you've upped it then it doesn't. Think Keira is fairly useless except when it comes to the mission with the Hounds of the Wild Hunt. And getting her baps out. Not sure on strategy as it's been a while since I played it but I was pretty faithful to the instructions in the bestiary. The Quen upgrade where you gain a bit of health if you take a light hit helps too.
  16. Got this on Friday to try and fill the Witcher 3 shaped hole in my heart. Quite enjoying it so far, not too far into it, only just a couple of quests past the Proving. I'm hoping there's more random encounters as I'm keen not to play through the main story too quickly but was wandering about for ages and didn't find anything other than going back into the ruins from the original mission when Aloy is a child.
  17. Yeah, I'll keep looking. Problem I always have with reviews is I can see 9 good ones but if the 10th one is a bit off then I start having doubts. There's a difference between the Mi5 and Mi5s as well, but thanks for looking. Also quite like the idea of a Doogee phone, just because of the name
  18. *picks up tumbleweed* I've had time to do some research this afternoon and other than answering the customs query, I've probably just confused myself a bit more. I've been trying to pitch what sort of level of phone I'd want. I really like the look of the Xiaomi Mi 5s, but it's around £230-250 depending on where you look which even allowing for eventually punting my old handset (also, where's a good place to do that if you don't use eBay?) seems a bit much for a first toe in the water considering pretty much everyone else on the thread has been buying for under £200 and closer to £100 in most cases. Also I read one review that said the screen scratches easily and the MIUI 8 system is a bit of a pain which spooked me a bit. I guess what I'm looking for is: will get EE 4G, good battery life / fast charging, runs quickly and isn't huge (maybe 5.5 inch max). Not fussed on camera quality or call quality. Would ideally like more than 32GB storage but that shouldn't be an issue with most of these having the ability to put an SD card in the 2nd sim slot. Any recommendations?
  19. I still say "tape" as it sounds infinitely less wanky than sky plus or tivo. Guess "record" is a happy medium.
  20. Looked through the last 8-9 pages of this thread, as I’m finally free of my contract this time next month and bumping to SIM only on my Samsung S6. I’d probably keep that if the battery wasn’t absolutely humpty so decent battery life / fast charging is a big consideration for me. Couple of questions- am I best just going onto gearbest and having a root around or are there comparison sites for these phones out there? The Maya max doesn’t seem like it’s for me, I could have given Jeremy Beadle a square go at thumb wars so is there a smaller phone that people have on there they would recommend? What happens if you get a customs charge? I’d probably get it delivered to my maw’s as she’s retired and in during the day more often than I am, do you actually get the phone and have to pay a charge to HMRC by a specified date under separate cover, or does that phone get stashed at a nearby location which you then have to go and collect and pay at that point? Or is there an angry wee Chinese guy demanding £20 cash at the front door?
