  1. Ripping into the likes of Raith and Brechin really just reminds us all how fucking diddy Morton are, tbh.

  2. We have had this argument before. You were probably drunk and don't remember. A chaser is a spirit you have with a beer. A curer is a drink the day after to sort out your hangover

  4. It has been a terrible end to the season for Raith but to call the manager a pathetic human is out of order. Would you say that to his face? Would you hell. A wee keyboard warrior hiding behind your mummys apron strings no doubt. It is football. Not life or death.

  6. Well what a season it’s been. Many more highs than lows and we should all be incredibly proud of the team. Losing Steven Doris so early into the campaign was an absolute sickener and I genuinely believe with him we would have finished 3rd and a lot closer to the top 2 than we did. The new formation was widely disliked but it’s been effective and for that I congratulate Dick and Pink. I was skeptical of McKenna but I can clearly see we have a talented lad on our books that gives you 110% every single week. Wallace has a lot to do to change my opinion of him but hopefully he has a great summer and comes back to prove me wrong. There is clearly a good player there but he needs to cut out the diving nonsense. Gav started slowly but from around January was probably the most creative player in our side. Looks like that was 8K well spent. Thomas O’Brien was far and away our top performer this season and in my opinion is the best CB in the league. If we revert back to a 4-4-2 I’m confident with TOB and Ricky at the heart of the defence we will be hard to beat. Bobby showed glimpses towards the end of the season to give me hope he can be a constant threat in the next campaign. Unfortunately this has been a poor campaign for Pongo and I’m sure we won’t see the ginger prince in an Arbroath shirt again. I also expect Hutton, Gomes and Kadar to be away. Scott Martin was a fantastic piece of business and I’m sure we all hope he can break into the Hibs team next season. Some really great memories from the season include skelping Forfar 5-0 at Station Park to get Bollan the boot, putting 7 past Airdrie at Gayfield and our early season battering of Montrose. I would have obviously much preferred to go up but next season will be a fun one with the 12 local derbies. On a personal note I now get to look ahead to my wedding and a few weeks away but I genuinely can’t wait to be back at Gayfield or travelling the country with some of the great supporters we have who have become fantastic friends in the process. Enjoy your summer Lichties

  7. I don't think this 9 goal advantage is as comfortable as some people think. I've seen some people online think that there has to be some high scoring results for it to be overturned. Not so. Unless my maths is fucked then, if we lose by 2 and Partick win by 2 on Tuesday that would leave them needing a 6 goal swing. If they then beat us by 3 in the last game that's them above us. Highly unlikely but football is mental and until we're mathematically safe I'm counting f**k all chickens.

  8. If we are safe come Saturday and a win for Thistle will ensure Accies are relegated or in the play offs I would happily let the Harry Wraggs leave Dens with the 3 points. Love a day out at Firhill and respect any 'by the ways' that don't support the Ugly sisters

  9. I absolutely fucking hate this notion that a manager should resign from a job. He has bills to pay like everyone else. If anyone on here was doing shite at their job they wouldn't just quit. Its a pathetic stance. He has a contract and it's entitled to honour that. It's up to the board to make a call to end that.

  10. That book's never had a page turned. You've been having a pretentious meltdown! Eta - nae fuckin wonder. First class to and from Doncaster doesn't change the fact that you went to and spent time in Doncaster. That would melt any c**t's head.

  12. They could win the East Super for ever more and never improve - or attract any interest from outside to help them improve. Now they can go into EoS, perhaps dominate it as Kelty (and LTHV) did this season, perhaps win it, beat the South champs and go into the LL. Upwards trajectory. Maybe even get some investment to improve their facilities. Any small business that wilfully deters investment (beyond "gie us a few grand for some big name part-time players please Mr Sponsor") will not progress at the same rate. Just a hunch.

  13. Aye we should just let the fan/players player of the year and the only ICT player to get into the Championship Team of the Year leave the club cause he picks up a few too many yellow cards. What a load of nonsense. He was at Inverurie for fitness after struggling with injury. I’d go as far to say he is the most technically gifted player in the division. He is miles ahead of anyone in our squad and we will have a hell of a bigger chance of doing something next year if he is in the team

  15. Meh, style of football is really the manager's remit, at this level. You're never going to have the size of football infrastructure required to embed a "philosophy". What I'd like to see is a bit more personality emanating from the club. Beyond the standard articles and interviews in the papers, the only real output from the club has been a couple of decent YouTube videos and a couple of tweets from Craig Easton. Someone's obviously trying, there's evidence of an attempt to build a brand, but there's no overall buy-in from the club. Motherwell are by far and away the best at it, but Dunfermline could well be running them a close second. You only have to look at the tweets from their players after they lost to Dundee United. Look at the Twitter timeline of Fraser Aird (https://twitter.com/FraserAird) to see how easy it is. He's engaging fans constantly, and there's a clear link back to the club's branding etc. He's not doing that himself, that's driven. James Craigen is another one. He's even managed to get a sponsor's name on there too. This is where modern football lives. You can't just ignore people for a week and expect them to turn up on a Saturday. People are being bombarded by "media" all the time, and you need to be there. You get more people down on a Saturday and, crucially, you get greater control over the message. You can turn players into personalities very easily, and you can build on that. Hell, in two short training ground videos you could've turned Bobby Barr from a guy who's picking fights with fans to a guy who cares so much that he'll go through walls to get it. You could've sold t-shirts with his face on them.

  22. There is no Rovers brand, other than a slightly grumpy sense that fans are an inconvenience. The stuff that’s shown any drive and energy around the club is all run by volunteers (RaithTV, Roary Club, 200 Club as examples). Anything the club runs itself tends to be very pedestrian. It’s pretty much always been that way.

  27. I've been looking back on this thread. There seems to be a feeling that those left on the bench would be changing games if only they started those games. Well, Mark Stewart started against Caley and was pretty meh, whilsy young Burt usually looks better as an impact sub than a starter. Wilson occasonially blows hot but mostly cold. Froxy is the one player with any sort of the unpredictable about him but he can also be anonymous. With the exception of Wardrop the loans have been crapiola. Maybee we had just better accept that we have had a pretty mediocre squad this season and it doesn't really matter how the pack is shuffled. If we manage to stay up we need a new pack.

  28. So what is your problem with this? Why shouldn't they manage their finances in the way that best suits them. Maybe now that we've got an expanded EoS league it's just the right thing for this club to do in the same way as going to the Highland League might not be the right thing for Lochee to do. Not every team has the same reasons for moving across. But losing Bonnyrigg and Kelty has absolutely fucked the East Superleague. We'd be as well not bothering next season because whoever wins it knows that it's a completely devalued league.

  29. Obviously you're capable of finding the score without Alan helping you out. So what's your point? Is it that Cove might not win. And if so, are you espousing the old Homer Simpson line "you tried your best and failed. The lesson is, never try"? I get it that people don't fancy the pyramid but all over the world, play offs are taking place and teams trying to move up are either winning or losing. At least they're not just battering their head off a ceiling.

  35. No, but it'll be interesting to see what they're like next season with a few of the traditional big hitters moving across. For what it's worth, any game I've been to in the EoS in the last few years, gates are broadly comparable to a lot of Junior district level games - mostly comfortably sub-100, with the odd exception like Coldstream, which I was lucky enough to visit on a blazing hot day and had maybe 130 there, and Eyemouth which I went to when it was tied in with that groundhop weekend thing and there were about 250...obviously that was very much a one-off. For comparison, I went to Kirrie v Haddington yesterday...one of the two East Region grounds I hadn't previously visited - maybe 40 paying customers? It's only really the university sides that have virtually no following in the EoS - otherwise it's not all that different.
    3 points
  36. Nope not off putting at all, looking at it long term rather than the hysterical "what about the gates!" or the hysterical "but Elgin away on a Tuesday in December!" or the even more hysterical "£18 to get in!!!" and the prospects are better in the near and far future within the EoS than they are within the SJFA.

  39. If you paid for that card, then you only have yourself to blame if you’re disappointed. There was nothing of interest on the undercard and the main event was a freak show just like their first. On paper there wasn’t a fight of quality on the whole card, and so it proved. Don’t sign up for volcano insurance in Scotland and then get angry when you realise you’ve been conned. Golovkin blew out Martirosyan in the second round as expected, nothing of interest on the undercard either. A poor weekend of boxing considering it was Cinco De Mayo. Loma v Linares next weekend should make up for it though. Can’t wait.

  43. The reason I don't think a WoSFL can begin in 2018-19 is because it's too late in the day to arrange all the competing factors. -Right now the Lowland only has to relegate one club if a lower league (EoS/SoS) has a licenced champion. They can also relegate a second club but only at the very end of their season dependent on the SPFL playoff. You'd be asking them to further increase the relegation possibilities to cater to a WoSFL. -The EoSFL has now doubled their membership and one of the things that the league will likely pursue is automatic promotion for their licenced champion, with the possibility of an additional spot as well. -The SoSFL share the current promotion opportunity with the EoSFL. If they give up ground to the EoSFL as well as a new WoSFL it will ultimately effect their standing as a Tier 6 league. While everyone assumes that's what they desire, are they willing to do it on such short notice. -When the Lowland League was formed on short notice everyone knew the first season would be considered a 'trial' to see if worked, as there would be no promotion to the SPFL. The clubs that joined weren't bothered by this as it would be no different to what they would be up to anyway. For any Junior team to join a WoSFL right now would be giving up the cups, derbies they have in the Junior game, with either a tangled mess of a promotion opportuninty if none at all. There are just too many discussions to take place to push it through this year as far as I am concerned.

Disappointing that having made 117 before the end of November he failed to add a goal in his last six months. Injury kept him out for a couple of months of course. He made only 3 starts and 9 sub appearances in that time. Stephen Dobbie is 5th with 108 goals coming into next season. Given he's managed 53 goals in a little under 2 seasons since returning, then he'll surely manage the 12 he'd need to become 2nd top all time scorer in the next year. We should treasure the next year of him firing them in because, unless he does another season beyond that, I suspect it will be a long time before anyone else gets anywhere near that top 20. Players staying with clubs long enough to do it these days is less and less likely. The next highest scorer behind Dobbie in the current squad as it stands right now will be Lyndon Dykes on 12. It's fairly remarkable that we have three modern day players in the top five who most of us have seen scoring for Queens.

  46. Exactly. The thing I find most depressing about the furore surrounding Gerrard’s arrival, is how servile our media are. “What will the English think?” continues to dominate their thoughts. Gerrard may or may not turn out to be a great success at Rangers, only time will tell. But this idea that we should all rejoice because idiotic Talksport pundits like Alan Shearer might afford our game a cursory glance once in a while is ludicrous. Kenny MacIntyre has been the chief cheer leader in this field. The disregard for the play-offs and vital relegation games has been a disgrace.
