  5. Really enjoyable night at the SLO's Meet the Manager night last night. As always the manager and Dougie Anderson spoke very well, and gave very honest answers to any questions put to them. It was nice to see a more relaxed Gary Naysmith as he recounted tales from his playing career with Scotland and Everton. After that it was time for the Geordie trio of Paddy Atkinson, Steve Bowey and Warren Pearson to take over the microphone and share a few stories. I think the SLO's have a bit of a thankless task attempting to get more fans on board, but they are doing a cracking job at least trying to make things better for those of us that do go with nights like last night, and getting a bit of fan engagement going with the banners and pre-match song choices. Their next event to commemorate our run to the cup final sounds like it will be a cracker as well. Keep up the good work lads

  6. First of all, a huge debt of gratitude to everyone who messaged me via the PM function over the last few weeks. Your words of solidarity and hope reaffirmed my unshakable belief in road safety and fiscal justice. I present the '18 survey because I will never kowtow to bullies. But, at the same time, I have my safety to consider and therefore datasets and additional information will only be available via pm, and won't be available to all. Fathers for justice had the same thing; except they were targeted by dykes not bikes. #dykesnotbikes But the C.A.S.T team were blown away (not literally) my the marvelous response from the Perthshire people. In 2014 we surveyed around 1,900 this time we broke the 2,500 mark! I'd like the share the submitions of one member in public ( who will remain anonymous ) for the purposes of this we will call him Colin (not his real name) Colin talked about the problems he's faced using his motorized mobility scooter. George relived 12 separate occasions where cyclist had blighted his life and lowered his self-esteem, all in the last year! 6 times he was forced into 'pavement dismount' due to villainous cycling. 4 times he was the victim of 'green bike syndrome' at pelican and puffin crossings. Once he was called a "paraplegic bentshot", another time cyclists stole George's ignition key and throw it into the river tay. So onto the results and we shortened the survey to 10 questions this year. Question 1: Should cyclist contribute to fund road based taxation? Yes 83% No 7% DK 10% Question 2: Would you agree the police turn a 'blind-eye' to illegal cycling? Yes 83% No 13% Dk 5% Question 3: Are there too many bikes on the road? Yes 36% No 51% DK 13% Question 4: Should all bikes be fitted with seatbelts as standard? Yes 31% No 40% DK 29% Question 5: Have you been assaulted by a cyclist in the last 12 months? Yes 94% No 3% DK 1% Question 6: Would you like to see cyclists allowed on dual carriageways and motorways? Yes 25% No 74% DK 1% Question 7: Chris Hoy eats bran flakes. Do you eat bran flakes? Yes 6% No 90% DK 4% Question 8: Are you in favour of advanced stop lines? Yes 59% No 29% DK 12% Question 9: Premature babies tend to have underdeveloped organs, making elite performance impossible. If said young baby lived a healthy life, but didn't have the lung capacity to emulate his father, would this be a bad thing? Yes 12% No 60% DK 28% Question 10: Should it be mandatory for cyclists to wear a helmet? Yes 89 % No 2% DK 9% Huge thanks to everyone that made the 18 survey the roaring success that it was. Wee break for the C.A.S.T team before our summer programme!

  10. I actually think completely the opposite here. Defensively there’s not a lot between Watson, Muirhead and Grant. They’re all capable of putting together a decent run of games but equally having complete howlers. However because Muirhead can cover at right-back and his fantastic penalties makes him a much better option to keep.

  13. "Junior brand"? What brand is that exactly? It certainly isn't a marketed brand. It's an old name, from a bygone age. If the changes that are beginning, continue to sweep through, then the name 'Junior' will be dead in 5 years.

  23. This. Just this. For the entire Sportsound mob to digest and hopefully choke on: "Clarke said: “My quote (at the AGM) is ‘it’s not my intention to leave Kilmarnock for any other Scottish club’. “That’s it. I don’t think I need to elaborate on that. It’s quite clear. “It probably says a lot about me as much as what it says about settling in here. I came here for a reason. “I said at the time that a lot of different reasons fell into place at the right time. Nothing has changed that. “I didn’t come here to leave. I came here to do a job. “I came back to Scotland for Kilmarnock. It’s always hard to look too far into the future but it’s definitely not my intention to leave to go to another Scottish club.”

  26. Hartley had had 3 seasons to make improvements apparently 2 of them with a top 6 budget. We were going backwards rapidly and he made some disastrous signings on longish contracts. He had to go. McCann appears a stubborn guy with a propensity to lose his shit easily. He’s made a mixed bag of signings but seems to have no clue as to how to make a decent team out of them. He needs emptied too.

  28. I'm quoting this one rather than your mammoth post just so people don't have to scroll! You raise a lot of good points. McCann was asked in his pre match interview if we were any better off than when he came in. As you'd expect, he went mental and said we have a much better squad. (We don't). McCann is a Dundee hero and he talks a better game than pretty much any manager we've had. He's very good at keeping the fans onside. Even after the St Johnstone game, the vast majority of fans chose to make a hasty exit. Whereas after the Hamilton game that ended Hartley, there was chants of Hartley, Hartley GTF. That's just not happened so far. Many have been hypnotised by this idea that McCann has the right ideas about football and his refusal to compromise will mean it'll come good in the end. He needs to go.

  33. Tom Johnstone’s legacy is going to be presiding over the demise and then the ultimate death of the Junior grade. He might and should have done so much better by engaging with the pyramid at the outset.....or engaging now, but he didn’t and even at this [too] late juncture he won’t. There’s none so blind as those who will not see.

  34. It's difficult to be honest. You often want to go up and tell them to shut the fk up but then you realise that you might get that bottle of buckie smashed off your head, they might stab you or come back with 3 mates next week to do you. You deal with this type of person every week and you hate them but you keep going back because you love the club you've been brought up supporting. For me and I'm sure others there just comes a time when you've had enough. My biggest fear was taking the kids to Celtic and having to come up with an answer to the question "Daddy, what does the IRA mean?" Well kids, a long long time ago in another Country..... how do you even begin to answer that? Nice to see a bit of support on here, I've been getting heavily pounded in real life for this decision. Some people genuinely can't understand what I'm thinking.

  36. Sad to say I just don’t see where our team is strong anymore. I was overly positive at the start of the season and also when our big players returned from injury, I thought we were sorted. A lot of the blame has to go to Archie now, even when we’ve played well he seems to change the team. Penrice and McCarthy must be wondering what they have to do to get a solid run in the team. I love Erskine like most of us do.. but he’s finished at this level imo. Osmans first two games back from injury I thought wow, we’ve missed this guy so much. Guy ain’t fit, McCarthy deserved a place in the team after last week. Barton must start in a back 3 for our final run in, I’m sure everyone would agree that we are more solid with him in the middle of our defence. Devine needs someone to keep him calm. Hope Dundee go on a c**t of a run and Ross county don’t pick up, because I can’t see us picking up a lot from our next few games.

  38. Caulker isn't a ball playing CH whatsoever. Either is O'Dea. Meekings can do it but he was a bombscare attempting it last week. Therefore, we shouldn't be utilising that style of play. Gadzhalov and Julen are probably the best CH's we have with the ball at their feet and they've been bombed out the squad (Julen can't have many complaints mind). It's just bizarre, everything McCann does struggles to have an explanation. McCann destroying Jon and throwing the ball away against St Johnstone. Then bringing Holt out from the cold. He'd not made the bench since January yet starts today. How many different positions has Deacon been deployed in now? In his post match interview, he fairly tore into Parish. Rightfully so. But the subbie keeper he signed isn't even making his bench. It's shocking mismanagement. He doesn't know what he's doing week to week.

  44. Why should the loyal members of the EoSFL be pushed aside to accommodate new clubs? In the past, when the league had 2 divisions if a new club came along they were placed in the bottom division and the challenge was for them to work their way up. Why should this change because we have so called 'superior' teams joining? Lets not forget that these teams aren't joining the league because they see it is a step up - they see the league as a stepping stone to a step-up. They'll have no loyalty to the league what-so-ever. There also shouldn't be assumptions that these teams join the league with the same standing as they do at present, I'm sure they'll lose some quality as players will leave as they don't fancy the step 'down'. The solution should be the top 8/9 teams at the end of this season should be in division 1 - the rest should be in division 2. I accept that we 'may' have a season where the better team/s are in the lower division, but the league has to be seen to be doing the right thing for all current members.
