  1. All these "what an experience to play at Ibrox!" Instagram posts are an absolute riddy. Almost exclusively from the wee boys who shat themselves on the park for 90 minutes, strangely enough.

  6. Aaron Tshibola last night opened the door on an extended stay at Kilmarnock. The Aston Villa loan midfielder is savouring his spell at Rugby Park under the shrewd guidance of manager Steve Clarke and senior stars such as Kris Boyd, Youssouf Mulumbu, Gary Dicker and Kirk Broadfoot. Tshibola’s career had stagnated in England but has been reignited in Ayrshire where the 23-year-old signed an initial six-month loan. And although unsure of what the future holds he insists he would be interested in extending the agreement if it suits all parties due to the progress he’s making at Killie. Tshibola said: “It’s a joy coming in here. Being in the right environment was key to me and the team is on a high. “The morale is great in the changing room, the lads are buzzing and to be around a great spirit every day is fantastic for me to try to get to the levels I want. “We are on form and that gives me an edge to get to the same levels the team have set. “It’s great for me because I have to set that bar high and get above it. “I speak to my coaches down south and they are always asking about my games, keeping track of how I’m doing. “It’s been good and positive and we are happy as my development is on the right track. “The most important thing for myself is to continue my development and the only way that can happen is by me playing first-team games. At the moment I’m doing that and helping the team and we’re doing well. It’s important I don’t stagger that development. “Obviously you can’t think too far ahead to next season but in the near future the aim is to continue to develop. “If that means being reunited here in the future and going forward and making the right step we’ll see.” Clarke was key in signing Tshibola during his spell as Villa assistant boss before snaring the player again in January. The manager’s coaching is crucial in Tshibola’s development but the midfielder has also revealed the importance of his experienced colleagues. He said: “The senior players are great characters. There are a lot of young boys but they definitely take a lot from the older lads who have been massive in the club’s transformation. “When I’m on the pitch I can tell I am learning just through their character and the way they are. “For example Boydy is a great leader, Gary, Youssouf and Broady. They are great examples. "You are taking things from them and it’s great for the young lads. “You can feel isolated at times when it’s not like that but the buzz is great and there are no outsiders. Everyone is together and for a young lad it’s what you want. “The last thing you want is to feel alone but everyone is welcoming and has a laugh while understanding the seriousness of the game. “It’s a squad and a team game and everyone is ready. “The team doesn’t know when it’s beaten. The spirit is incredible. We can be 2-0 down and the fight we have with the balance of young lads and experience makes us believe we can beat everyone. “We can have a blip and start bad but it doesn’t mean we are going to lose the game. “At the moment we can beat anyone.” Clarke’s team go into tonight’s clash with St Johnstone on a run of just two defeats in 16 matches and five wins in their last six home games. Victory could move his team fifth in the Premiership but the gaffer expects a tough task and sees the Perth side as a benchmark. Clarke said: “They have picked up a little bit recently. They have been a good role model for clubs like ourselves in that they have always been in the top six and always challenging. “They have been very consistent under Tommy Wright. “We can’t get carried away with what we have done, we are only focusing on this game and we will see what happens."

  8. I don't have kids and have never had to do a school run but the street I need to drive along from my parents house to my flat has two schools on it and on occasion I've been passing before 2pm, I'm honestly shocked at the number of people sat in their cars staring at their phones. They actually sit there for more than an hour so that they can get a space near the front gate? What the f**k is that all about? The number of 4x4's is increasing too, all driven by women who have zero perception of how wide their daft big car is and park about 8 feet from the kerb. Fucking c***s the lot of them.

  12. Does the traditional class system still exist in the UK? What a lot of folk seem to count as working class or lower class these days is nothing of the sort when compared to traditional working class values. Things like education and community were massive pillars of the working class ideology, nowadays anyone who acts like an arsehole and dresses like a tramp is given the "working class" label as if it is some kind of insult.

  15. No arguments from me. Always wanting to get a better deal without really thinking of the consequences. Private Eye had a piece a while back about how the NFU lobbied for the abolition of the old Milk Board because they wanted a better price for the milk farmers were producing. Fast forward several years and the farmers are getting felt up by supermarkets paying them a pittance for their milk. Round them!

  17. I'd agree with the technique. In the slow motion clip you can actually see him prolong his step so he can meet it perfectly. An outstanding goal and it capped off what was one of his best performances for me. But Moult lobbing the 'keeper from 25 yards? You could have cut diamonds off my stauner when that hit the back of the net.

  24. I read an interview with Kari Arnason about his first spell at Aberdeen. The players wore tracksuits to every game, unless they were playing at Ibrox or Celtic Park in which case they got told to wear a suit. If that's your attitude then you're beaten before you get on the pitch.

  28. He's not merely "on the books" at Man U. He is starting in Champions League games and top level Premiership games ahead of Paul Pogba (when we're talking about hype you want to see how much heid rippin there was over that signing). Also, nobody is suggesting he will become a regular. There's a huge amount of straw-man creation on this thread. The response has been pretty sober. It's great that a player with huge promise has chosen us over England. The difference being that he has chosen. It isn't a case that he just hasn't been called up for England and has opted for us (my main issue with the Granny-rule players), but he didn't even meet with Southgate. People are delighted and encouraged by that. We're hopeful that he'll become a top player. Those in the know are thinking he'll be a top player (Mourinho rates him and trusts him hugely) so you'd forgive us for being massively excited, and we'd surely be allowed that. Nobody is massively excited though. We know that he might not kick on and he could end up being utterly average, but we're hopeful he won't be. I know that supporting Scotland has been traumatic over the decades (and I'm a Partick Thistle fan, too, with numerous relegations and being a bawhair from liquidation, so I get it) and that creates a certain cynicism borne of fear. We're afraid that we'll get carried away only to be crushed by disappointment. This is especially the case with players. Psychologically we may not have recovered from the 1970's, where we had teams packed with European Cup winners and League champions, and we failed spectacularly and creatively at each of the tournaments we entered. Hell, it could be argued that 1978 left a huge wound which hasn't yet been healed and has left us with a sense that any positive expectations will result in catastrophe.

  30. He's now claiming to be a published author @Peppino Impastato is actually fast becoming my favourite poster on here as he seems to have the best life. However, I'd enjoy a bit of context and specifics regarding all his achievements / adventures, so Pepp, if you could please provide details on the below it would be appreciated: How long has your friend known Cristiano Ronaldo, and have you ever met him? Where did you meet Alex McLeish? What was Condaleeza Rice's handicap and did she play to it? Which football team, at an above average level, did you play for, and for how long? What were the three high profile football transfers you were heavily involved with, and what was your role? What's the name of the work you had published? Thanks in advance for your no doubt detailed and in absolutely no way fabricated responses. Kind regards, J_Stewart.

  33. Came on to this thread as I thought there was something new about RG, and was quite excited as there was a good page and a half of replies. I should have known that most of the replies consisted of one man picking a fight and de-railing the discussion. I ken that moderators check for trolling and abusive posts, but can they also do something about being utterly feckin boring? Pep, I genuinely enjoy your contributions to most threads, but you've let yourself down here mate. You're not the only one who spends too much time in schoolboy-level debate, there are others, but you should see that your tendency towards this undermines the quality of your other posts. To get it back on track, I too am concerned about Gauld's lack of game time and am still irked at how his spell with Setubal ended. I hope his lack of momentum, not being settled at one club, doesn't harm his development too much. I am one of those who wants to see more Scottish footballers playing abroad. I feel that Faddy, for instance, would have been better served going to Portugal or Holland than the premiership. In these days where freedom of movement in the EU is, for now, easier than ever, it's pretty disappointing when scottish footballers' vision seems to go no further than the channel tunnel. Hopefully the adventures of Henderson, Gauld and, until recently, Burke, are a belated commencement of a trend which will continue.

  44. I really don’t understand some Scottish people when I see things like this thread. A young guy getting regular game time at one of the top clubs in the world chooses to play for Scotland, and instantly some seem utterly desperate for him to fail. Remarkable.

  45. This. This so much, one of the hardest things to do is to open up and although I wished you could have done so before (therefore perhaps preventing this episode) you did now and i have massive respect for that. Ive run over a lot how to begin this post, perhaps a joke or an aggressively written statement meant in a light hearted way but I don't think it'll help. There's definitely something in Bairnardo's theory of pre accepting what might happen. The hardest thing is to find a way of stopping it happening. For me, it was sheer will power when things were utter shit and as you know, still struggle at times even though my situation is good. I was on meds once. Came off them because either I didn't regularly take them or they did nothing for me. But everone is different and each struggle is unique. The impulse to drink is more common than people think in my view. I don't get it so much anymore, it's embarrassingly been replaced by sugar cravings but it was dangerous and not something that there is a lot of help for out there. For me the fear of 2 or 3 days feeling below average scares me enough. Even if these impulses happen, go along with it but buy say 4 beers instead of lots. Something really good and enjoy some old highlights like you sent me, or stick on a good long film, and try to change your mind's response to this impulse. Cut down before eliminating it, it takes time. Also remember that relapses of such a thing will happen too. It's all part of overcoming something. The hardest thing in the world is to change habits, but it can be done. It just takes time and no pills can help, nobody else can take the strain of it, but others can guide and help. You know me better than anyone I dare say except my lass in some regards and you know the changes I've made in my life. Which brings me on to this, I know loneliness is one of the main problems. Im sorry I complained about having little personal space recently, seems really pathetic now but you know, it helped. So fucking talk before you reach for the beer OK? Anyway, loneliness and in particular, women or specifically attracting one. Don't take this the wrong way but you need to implement other changes before this happens. 1: forget them right now. Don't go to pubs alone approaching then. Just don't. They don't like this, speak to my lass about it. 2: focus on becoming healthier, make small changes perhaps to your diet and really push yourself to try some sports. Doesn't matter of you're shit, it's about good routine and you will also meet people. You have the time. 3: write some goals down. Write them fucking down. Now. Make goals each week so you can tick them off. Do it. Make them small, thinking about some bigger ones you may have long term. Write them down too. Fucking do it! 4: if you don't finish them all in a week, so what? But it's a good habit. Get into good habits and good things will start to happen. You've already improved your debt situation so much. 5: let relapses happen in smaller scales if you have to. It's fine. So stop beating yourself up over everything, please. Everyone fails. Everyone. You know what is a good habit? Trying again. Fucking trying again until whatever it is improved even just a bit. I'd insert a Family Guy clip I have in mind if I could find it. You're my Bro. Truly. I know we don't normally talk aloud about all this shit but perhaps we should have done, still can do. I don't like talking about all this shit in public but if it helps so be it, and if it inspires someone else even a tiny bit, it'll be worth it... You know that letter you left me when i left for Germany? I read that every so often. It makes me laugh and it inspires me to keep trying even when things are tough because they can be some days. It also helps me remember what I'm trying to accomplish in my life. YOU are helping me do that even now. YOU have helped me, as well as other amazing people, get me here today. If you're able to turn all that positive energy (yeah, wanky term but f**k it) onto yourself, you've got the potential to go so fucking far. Here's one mad wee random thought that might be worth considering. Have you looked into volunteering at a dog home or animal shelter? I know you love dogs, look into it. Even one evening or one weekend day a month. If that sounds like something fun, then nothing can stop you. Who knows where it could take you. Anyway enough rambling from me, I love you and I'll batter you if you do something so stupid again. I'll make myself more available to talk to and if you want advice, or guidance on anything at all, ask me.
