  1. Nah, wouldn't blame all MPs and certainly not "our" in the Scottish sense. It's all the fault of FPTP and the commons system of government. To ward off the possibility of a hung parliament, the cons subsumed the views of a minority extremist party and promised a plebiscite on whether we should revoke gravity. As it turns out you can't expect Joe Public to vote for something you've spent the last six years blaming for your own tight-fisted poory-murdering policies and devoid of any other means of voicing their anger the maligned, oppressed and ridiculously misinformed people of Englandshire voted to cut off their genitalia as a protest against austerity. Then in GE2017 they fucked it by conducting the most anodyne, sterile and information free campaign in history, arrogantly assuming they could increase their majority and get a free five year run at the calamity they created. Instead, the crushingly stupid, cartwheeling, flailingly inept thundercunts achieved the almost impossible against a lettuce waving allotment dwelling marxist. The very situation they were desperately trying to avoid with the referendum in the first place, a hung parliament. And to round off the fuckwittery and as an exemplar of the systemic disaster that is UK politics, instead of seeking consensus which would probably end up with a BINO brexit (in SM&CU) which I doubt really anyone could have successfully moaned about. They bribed some other fucking racist, homophobic, corrupt religious zealots and doubled down on their folly. The whole thing has been a breathtaking humiliation for the UK. Once considered the absolute gold standard of stable politics, rational decision making and international diplomacy, the UK has utterly debased itself on the world stage and its reputation will never recover. And to be fair, that reputation has been on borrowed time for a while.

  2. There has been a brewing scandal in recent days over revelations that Oxfam charity workers used prostitutes in Haiti when working there on aid projects following the earthquake that caused devastation in Haiti in 2010. The Times reported that the charity covered up the scandal by not releasing a report into the affair, allowing senior staff to leave in a "phased and dignified manner" to avoid any negative implications for the charity and that Oxfam did not inform the Haitian authorities of the events. The Charity Commission are investigating following the story. There are also claims that one of the senior staff involved also used prostitutes when working for Oxfam in Chad several years before they were assigned to Haiti. The deputy chief executive has resigned and there are calls for Oxfam's government funding to be cut. Also, there are obvious concerns for Oxfam regarding public donations as publicity like this doesn't exactly draw people into donating. I'm not surprised that this sort of thing happens, there are numerous instances of charity workers behaving in this way, as well as relief workers, soldiers, peacekeepers etc. Haiti had a prominent sex tourism industry before the earthquake and is a particularly corrupt country. There have been other issues with aid and donations being misappropriated - Wyclef Jean set up a charity following the earthquake that has serious questions around it, having spent very large figures on luxury accommodation and travel, leaving little for actual projects. Will this scandal affect P&Bers donating to Oxfam? Have any P&Bers ever exploited a humanitarian disaster to get a cheap back alley knee trembler from a starving local? Would any P&Bers like to donate to my charitable trust funding a fact-finding mission for me and the lads to Amsterdam?

  4. f**k. That. Damage is done now. Whatever fudge the UK eventually accepts both internally and externally it will be a much diminished and poorer thing than I can bear. As I said to Craven Rob, Brexit is a catalyst or an accellerant for Indy, not the route cause and I couldn't give a f**k how many go's or attempts it takes. Scotland must become independent. All brexit has done is ably demonstrate how little we matter, the impossibility of affecting critical decisions at a UK level and the total disregard for how key policies might affect people outside of the home counties. I am aware that the polls haven't changed but that can neatly be attributed to voter apathy and basic horror that each of the last 3 votes (on a UK basis anyway) has only achieved greater uncertainty and further chaos. More than enough people are just so fed up with voting not achieving anything and I can't blame them. The trick for Yes 2.0 will be making it crystal fucking clear that whatever happens the status quo is not on offer.

  6. There has been absolutely no contact from Barnsley according to my source, pure speculation. Jack Ross will get linked with a lot of jobs between now and the end of the season, need to get used to it I'm afraid.

  7. Is there a more loathsome draw possible to take the wind out of a cup run sail than the **** away. Totally deflated by it. Likely pumping, the reek that surrounds both cheeks getting the easiest pass possible and a truly horrible away day. Truly the polar opposite of what the cup should be about which was the experience I missed out on at Inverurie. At least lads that made the Cove game got a good experience before going to Ibrox to get abused and sit through a cauldron of bigotry.

  8. It's the sudden touching concern for the "state of the national team" that annoys me the most. Blatant hypocrisy. The national team went down the grubber, coincidentally, with the intorduction of the "SPL"- designed to concentrate much more money in the hands of fewer clubs. Scottish football has yet to recover from that and has since spent its time implementing shit ideas from down south a few years after the fact.

  13. Dundee fans would need to endure the phrase "the scorer of that goal against Barcelona" in every match report produced by a glasgow-based paper. Nothing is worth that.

  14. Whilst I completely agree with the second paragraph, Ibrox as an away fan is fucking grim, it could’ve been a lot tougher. Celtic, Aberdeen, Killie and Hearts would all have been tougher draws at the moment imo. Whilst we still will more than likely get beat and Cummings will definitely score as usual with our defence being shite. However I fancy us to cause them problems and really think our midfield 3 can go and dominate, really looking forward to Tom Taiwo absolutely bodying whatever jobbers they have got in midfield these days.

  15. I’ve no issues with McCann falling out with Holt if that’s the reason Holt isn’t playing. If McCann can fall out with O’Dea, Moussa and El Bak we might just stay up.

  21. He's going to go at some point, and if Barnsley do want him I think he should take it. I can understand why some would be surprised that they would want him. On paper I suppose he's really achieved nothing yet, and at a fairly low level, but I think its fairly obvious he has something about him, and that won't have gone unnoticed. His signings for St Mirren have been fantastic, and recruitment is so important. He got exactly the right players, and has built on it in each window. He also seems to be one of the main reasons most of these guys are there. The players clearly love working for him. It might be a step too far for him, who knows, but my gut feeling is he's going to be a success wherever he goes. Hope he stays, but good luck to him if he doesn't.

  27. There is nothing that 'stops us' we as a team do pretty well in youth player development, as do many others. What hinders us and other teams is we don't have the financial resources, facilities and the ability to maintain as large a number of young players as bigger teams like Celtic and Rangers. We also don't have as much of a draw (or finances again) to go snatch a promising youth player from smaller/ similar clubs Colt teams would provide a clearer path for players. Exactly my point, Colt teams provide a path for Rangers and Celtic to mitigate the risk further of losing players like Morgan and give even further opportunity to hold onto largerplayer pools. It would remove the risk of them losing young talented players that want first team football as they'd be able to offer that and it would give the opportunity to sign promising young players from smaller clubs who might otherwise prefer to stay for the first team experience. It is 100% self interest by those two clubs and it again comes back to my point. Why would a team like St Mirren or other similar club vote in favor for a plan that will afford Rangers and Celtic a means to swallow up and retain talent that would otherwise be playing elsewhere?

  29. I'm not entirely upset that my £3 per month is being spent on tarts. Next advertising campaign should be a laugh though. Just £3 per month can provide clean drinking water for a family. £10 per month can provide vaccinations for an entire village. £25 per month will allow an Oxfam worker to be sucked off until he passes out.

  31. Jack will eventually leave St.Mirren. If it's Barnsley it's Barnsley. If it isn't them it will be another club bigger than us. That's the way of the world and it's great to have a successful manager for a change and not one we are having to sack! Personally I hope he stays and finishes off this job. He'll almost certainly get other offers in the summer if he does go on and win the title with Saints.

  32. My main problem with the "expectations for the season" type threads is that the very same people who (reasonably given our budget) say "avoid relegation", "10th place" or "a mid-table finish" have a vast fucking meltdown and want the manager, the players, the CEO and the Kitman hunted because we don't win for a month. What do people think a mid-table season looks like, never mind a 10th place finish? You're going to lose a lot of games and have spells in the season where you are shite - if you avoid those things, you're looking at some season and being back where McCall had us..... There should be a "the unrealistic expectations you have and are scared to mention" thread.

  35. The Scottish Cup final is the best day of the season, bigger day than winning the league after weeks of inevitability. Same in England, and the Championship play off final is a bigger celebration than winning the league. The cups is what it's all about.

  36. could you tell me when clubs at the lowest level of the national league set up have ever produced internationals regularly? It's a totally different discourse altogether. Our last international played in the nineteenth century. We have a youth system that has produced, in recent times, Martin Boyle (Hibs) and Aaron Taylor-Sinclair (Partick Th, but never really made it down south). This is not an argument for Colt teams, by the way. No one can be bothered taking you seriously and the thread has degenerated into a boring game of whack-a-mole. The proposal is shit, fan opposition has -for now- sunk it- come back with something better, preferably not involving parachuting in your youth team just because "we're the Old Firm". Or, alternatively, let everyone sit down and come up with a plan, overseen by, well, y'know, the game's ruling authorities, not this back-of-a-fag-packet-bollocks punted by your under-18 coaches, or whoever they are, designed to benefit the gruesome twosome at everyone else's expense.

  38. Link originates in the scummy rag, therefore I'm not placing too much credence on it. I can see Barnsley looking for someone with more experience and more achievements under their belt - Jack, for all his qualities, has still not completed a single season in charge of a single club, and has won nothing of note as a manager. If Jack is offered the job, I can't see him turning it down, due to the financial rewards, and also the increased opportunity to make it to the Premier League, which will be where he wants to end up. Prepared for another nailbiting few days as rumour and speculation abound, until the truth comes out, however painful that may be...

  41. Having sharpened up my chipping and putting with lessons, I've been on fire lately: On Sunday I was 4 up with 4 to play before the inter-club competition was abandoned due to rain / flooding. We have to replay. Yesterday from a field of 52, I had the lowest gross 76 (5 over par) and the highest stableford at 41 points. Won myself $20 and 4 balls.

  43. Imagine having a guy who saw his old club struggling, so went out of his way to re-join, with the publicly-stated target of keeping us up then getting us promoted. Now imagine he's also our captain, and that he wasn't talking complete bollocks. Stephen McGinn. What a fucking guy.
