  3. As many have said, this is basically the old firm are willing to bribe their colt teams into the league. They guarantee a minimum of 250 away fans at £10 per head. They would play all fixtures away from home during the two year pilot. They know clubs at that level are tight for cash and would find it hard to turn it down. So, basically, buy your way in then once you're in you're in, they're not going to be kicked out once the foot's in the door. A Few years down the line, any benefits the other clubs have received are gradually eroded, hibs hearts and Aberdeen want a piece of the action and one by one more of the wee teams slide out of the league set up and into oblivion. It stinks. I'd support a boycott at all levels of Scottish football. Although it sounds extreme, I genuinely feel, as others have stated, that I would seriously consider whether I wanted to watch Scottish football anymore, or help fund it.

  4. Celtic supporter here. I don't think this is a great idea, if the SFA wants to help promote youth development they should provide subsidies to the existing clubs to help with youth development and coaching. If there are good coaches at the likes of Elgin or Peterhead then an 18 year old would get just as much benefit playing for them as they would playing for Celtic Colts against those same teams. Either way the existing clubs should listen to their fans, if the fans of the existing SPFL teams want this to happen then the SFA should go for it, but if the fans are against it (as I suspect is the case) then the idea should be scrapped. We (Celtic fans) would be hypocrites if we praised SPL teams in 2012 for listening to their fans and rejecting Sevco getting Rangers old place in the SPL but ignored the will of the fans of teams in the league that Celtic Colts would go into.

  6. Out a cup early? We got the holders and the eventual winners in the quarter final ffs! A bit of luck with the draw and we could of got further yes but we didn't get the luck and went out as expected to Celtic. I've already said I wasn't there Saturday so can't comment on the performance but we're still in the cup after a poor performance and if we can get through this replay then we've got a winnable tie to get to the quarters again. We may be 10th in the league but performances have been a lot better overall compared to last season. I believe we're going in the right direction but end of the day points is all that matters and sometimes grinding out results will get us the 3 points instead of the bonnie football. Signings are required but there's no point in signing someone for the sake of it. January is a c**t of a window as clubs aren't willing to let their better players go so if we're going to sign someone, it'll be a free agent or a loan. I read a quote from McCann saying he's looking to bring players in so we'll see what happens in the next week or so.

  8. See folks, this isn't really to do with just Celtic & Rangers, it's the classic Scottish football scenario of them identifying a problem, knowing the correct solution but pursuing the wrong one For years all of the top tier clubs and several in the Championship have operated extensive youth development programmes, usually ranging from age 9 up to late teens / early 20's. Thousands of kids have come through these programmes and comparitively few have become first team regulars. The reason for that is managers, rightly or wrongly, feel they can't "trust" them and their "mentality" due to the fact that they've only played against players the same age up through the years via the Pro Youth set up. In other words, they've not been learning from experienced Pro's, and that's due to the removal of the Reserve teams. So all these kids hit a brick wall at around 17 or 18. Their solution is to loan them out to lower league teams (or play against them with this Colts suggestion), but it's flawed. While it gets them game time, they're not learning off top level Pro's, their own standards decrease and only a tiny percentage of those loaned out return to establish themselves in the first team. Most end up permanently in the lower leagues or disappearing from the game. We would like to see more kids coming through as someone else said, for the ultimate benefit of the national team. Top tier chairmen would because they'd like to see more in the way of transfer fees boosting their revenues. Project Brave have also recommended the return of Reserve Teams and cutting the number of Pro Youth set ups (correctly) as only a limited number of clubs really have the infrastructure to run it properly. But the clubs feel Reserve teams are too costly and there are a lot of people who have made money out of their involvement in the youth set up but have delivered next to nothing - so there's a lot of vested interests in the current failed system staying as it is. That's why you've got garbage like this being proposed which is doomed to failure in every conceivable way.

  10. A youth player moving to the English Championship via the one of the Old Firm and we’ll likely receive a sum equating to a packet of Quavers and a Terry’s chocolate orange. I know it’s been spoken about before at length, but this transfer has got to be one of the fucking worst bits of business any club has ever done.

  18. Not sure that's a good idea. People who organise write-in campaigns tend to avoid telling their supporters what to write as it's then obvious that people are simply putting their names to a template. They think it's better that people's comments are in their own words as that seems to convey individual feelings better. Thousands of identically worded e-mails are easier to ignore than the same number making the same points but worded differently. Of course there's nothing to stop somebody putting down the main objections to the scheme as initial guidance providing that the individual fans make it a bit more personal.

  20. Have to disagree with these 2, PB. Golf is shite so f**k the membership off completely and make a considerable saving and make yourself a better person. Gym membership can definitely be saved on (scrimp is the wrong word). No need to pay bannantynes or David Lloyd £45 pcm for them heat the jacuzzi when all I want to do is go to the gym. If you enjoy the luxury and money isn’t an object I understand why folk would prefer the more prestigious private health clubs but if you just want to use the gym, nae point.

  29. This latest Colts shite is an absolute textbook example of the "pure bitter rivals" acting together in their mutual interest and attempting a stitch-up for themselves as they always do. The grubby bung to the smallest clubs is as tawdry and blatant as it gets in Scottish Football and anyone that thinks it really would be a two year trial shouldn't be allowed out on their own. And if the trial is judged a success by Rangers and Celtic on their own terms? There is every chance that the other 10 Premiership clubs (or the top 2 tiers of academies) would want to take up their "rightful" spot in the league setup - what then? Sadly, I can see this happening if the powerpoint presentations are already on their way round - the top tier clubs will see this as a good thing out of self-interest (under the fig-leaf of Project Brave) - and sadly, there will be nowhere near the level of outrage required from the general support of those clubs (as opposed to the type that hang about on P&B) to make Boards think twice. It was easy to get people whipped up when new Rangers were trying to be inserted straight into the top league against any principals of integrity or justice - it was a simple message and it directly affected the supports of the biggest clubs. The Challenge Cup colts stuff points to the fact that when the "victims" are to be Edinburgh City or Cowdenbeath, etc, the proposal will be met with a shrug of the shoulders.

  32. I shall be returning to work on the 30th of January. I feel that I am ready to return now because talking therapy, being good to myself, therapeutic writing and reading alot of good books and staying off social media has enabled me to "reconnect" with who I am and various unpleasant experiences from the past no longer haunt me like they used to. The veil of depression has been lifted. It will also be good to have my fulltime wage again because sick pay is less than a third of what I usually earn. After six months of sickpay I will feel like a millionaire.
