  1. When Murrayfield's set up for football and you're behind the goal you're far, far further away from the pitch than you are behind the goal at Hampden. I'm firmly in the camp that if you were building a stadium from scratch in an ideal world you'd just have a bigger version of Tynecastle with steep stands right on top of the pitch, but I still think people vastly overstate how bad Hampden is. Unless you're directly behind the goal the view is fine: the vast majority of seats in the East and West stands provide an excellent view of the whole pitch. While a full Parkhead has a better atmosphere and a good seat at Ibrox gives an excellent view, those stadiums both have far more seats with a crap view than Hampden does. Murrayfield is a non-starter due to the segregation issue before taking into account the distance from the football pitch with the rugby end zones taken in, the SFA's reluctance to plough money into the SRU and the SRU not wanting to let their precious sport be tainted by footballing luddites on a permanent basis. If someone can propose a better idea than Hampden and a feasible way to redo it financially I'm all ears, but none of Parkhead, Ibrox and Murrayfield are a better option.

  2. Hartley has a hard act to follow. Auld Eck and his 100% record. Deserves great praise for steadying the ship and bringing some confidence back. Thank you Mr Smith yet again

  3. People posting shite Scottish/Catalonia memes in some futile exercise in solidarity. It's a fucking riddy for Scotland when you consider what they as a people have endured to cast a vote that won't even be honored. You fucking shat it Scotland. Never forget that. You had it on a plate and you fucking shat it!

  4. Tied at 29th with 10 points and 1 first place vote we go to 2021's "city" of culture, Paisley, proving a remarkable concentration of walloper amongst the St. Mirren support. Their team's remarkable decline over the past four years seems mirrored in the posting of certain users, but then when you see the names you'll know they've always been terrible. "he's been pulling the same shite troll act for over a decade now and unlike, say, MJC he always ends up having it come back on him. I actually have a couple of mutual St Mirren supporting friends on facebook and he's popped up on my timeline. c**t looks like Charlie Adam." "The c***'s c**t" One of my first memories of P&B was seeing a quote in someone's signature. It was, supposedly, from Stuart Cosgrove: "There's a guy I always see on Pie and Bovril called Lex, he always get stuck in and supports his team." I'm paraphrasing and missing a bit since it's not there anymore but the sentiment remains. Here was I, new to this internet-leading source for firsthand news and opinions of Scottish football, being told by a respected media figure that Lex's opinion was one worth reading. In the 3+ years since that errneous Cosgrove quote I have never seen anyone on here who has been so consistently wrong on every subject they ever participate in discussion of. Football, politics, life in general, Lex brings an unfounded air of superiority to everything he posts, constantly undermining himself by being a complete laughing stock in the process. Nobody takes him seriously, everyone takes delight in seeing him miserable and he is undoubtedly a shite troll when he doesn't actually believe the hot takes he posts, as he's shat out of my most basic questioning on the politics board So, @Lex, like your hero Ruth Davidson, you have the air and faux personality of everyone's best mate while actually, anyone with sense sees you're a parody of yourself and a complete joke who's out of your depth. unlucks.

  5. For these qualifiers for Scotland, of the ten I will make 7 (4 home and 3 away). Would rather not go to Scotland games than see the SFA funnel more money into the Bigot Brothers pockets by having them host Scotland games and cup semis and finals. Till a solution is found that involves that not happening they should stay at Hampden.

  6. We’ve come a long way since Daryl Meggett was a CH option. Remember Arturo up front as well? f**k you, Hartley. I did mention it in the Falkirk thread, and I am in a minority with this opinion, but I think Hartley was a poor manager. Not just at being tactically inept or disrupting squad harmony. I would love to see how many players Hartley signed for us. It’s got to be touching 60. And how many had to have their contracts terminated? I know he’s one of the best managers we’ve had for a decade (Smith Deefiant season with embargo and -points best for me) but that’s not saying much. I think it’s no coincidence that Hartley was seen as such a success as he arrived not long after the new owners who allowed him to spend his way out of the mistakes he made. I’ll be interested to see how he does at Falkirk without that luxury.

  7. What are you talking about? Crolla shaded most of the close rounds, certainly in my eyes. The judges have seen it that way as well.

  8. No it isn’t a joke at all. You could win a close fight 120-108 if you just edged each round which is what Crolla did in most rounds.

  9. This was where I was critical.of the Kerr/ Taiwo partnership under Houstie in that at times it seemed like Kerr was under instruction not to drive us forward but to move the ball sideways. He seemed to play with more freedom today and it seemed like he was actually trying to push us forward. The performance today was refreshing to see and it was great to actually come away from the stadium having enjoyed the game.

  10. Anyone with full knowledge of what this Tory government has done to refugees, the disabled and other vulnerable groups and still insists on voting for them is at the very very least selfish and morally bankrupt. *even if they are a poster's maw or da.

  11. 150,000 seater stadium in the centre of Stirling. Railway links from every major Scottish town and city into the heart of the stadium. A modest airport across the road for expats from Canada, Australia and the likes. Lights that project our starting line-up into the night sky. Extra lasers. The extent that the SFA have ripped off their mug fan base over the years means they should be able to afford the above twice over with change.

  13. Deserves the support and backing of the fan's and must be given a chance. Will have his own ideas on style of play and the way the team is set up. Has no other choice but to work with what he has got until the transfer window. Suspect some will move on and some new faces brought in. If ever there was motivation for the squad to play their hearts out it, it is that scenario. It's also an opportunity for the young fringe played to impress. Remember the Great Willie Cunningham coming in and doing just that. Players were transformed and were as good as new signings. So give the guy a chance to prove himself with winning in style and with good football.

  14. The pathetic thought that we'd have to make sure we evenly distributed the games between Celtic Park and Ibrox, lest the bog-dwellers who care about such things throw a wobbly, is enough to discount that idea for me.

  18. I remember the days Lex lorded it up in the premiership hooking folk everywhere (including myself) with his smug styled bait. Now he flounders about in the Championship thread where everyone just ignores him. His attempts at winding folk up in the politics and Scotland threads are equally disregarded. A shadow of his former self.

  19. Tied with Lex was @wisbit who posted videos himself playing football manager in his jammies (videos P&B I'm sure will share with us now), posted that he didn't believe in gravity and eventually got banned for holocaust denial. A low surely unsurpassed among P&B's worst.

  22. Work. Or more specifically recruitment / resignation of people you line manage at work. When someone you line manage leaves your work and your boss says they don't expect you to do the job of the person who has left. Then your boss describes tasks they want you to complete which are the job of the person who has left. I hate work. I want to be retired or at least just have a diddy job back close to home that I don't have to care two fucks about. I'm already working on an exit plan.

  28. I love Hampden. Sadly not had many opportunities to see my club there, but have been watching Scotland at Hampden for over 30 years. Nights like last night, the place was rocking. Having watched Scotland at both Ibrox and Parkhead, they just can't compare (OK ROI game was decent). On these occasions necessity demanded moving the matches. The idea however of playing there on a more permanent basis and thereby financially supporting these odious institutions does not attract me at all.

  42. Talk of what our ideal ground might look like is redundant in the context of this discussion. Nothing new, big and shiny can be afforded, so it's a question of continuing with Hampden, or playing all big games at either of Glasgow's other big two stadia. Given that, it's an absolute no-brainer. We'll need to stay at imperfect old Hampden. It's bad enough giving that pair lots of money for staging internationals, but far worse paying them to enjoy huge advantages in the late stages of our cups. We need to have a ground that's separate from either of them and even if it's not great, it's important to run with it.

  44. I'll start by saying that I fucking love Liam, he is Oasis, Noel's noel, but Liam is pure rock 'n' roll, always was, still is and always will be. That aside, I stuck this album on with real fear, the singles I'd heard we're all pretty good, but you'd always chuck good tunes out to get people interested. I had major concerns over what he was gonna produce for the slower tunes especially. Fucking hell, it's brilliant. The time he's taken to go off and find people to write with, has paid massive dividends. I'm trying very, very hard to keep the Liam tinted, john lennon shades to one side and be subjective. But I can't. Liam made this album and it's fucking so much better than I ever dreamed it could be. This thread will no doubt attract plenty of haterz, when it does, I'm not even gonna bother weighing in with the usual defence. It won't be required. This album speaks for itself. Can I justify £150 for a Glasgow standing ticket? That's undecided, but if any legend has a spare going, please PM me. I'll happily pay a bit over face value. The King has returned. Long live the King.

  48. No profound earth shattering statement in this Friday's Courier from the Glorious Leader, (ex safety officer), but there is a letter from a chap titled, "Players can do better but so can the Fans". In the letter the chap say's he attended last week's QOS game and basically though he says the players performance was poor then if the fans do not give them encouragement and only display negativity by booing and falling attendances then that is what we can expect. He also admits that he is NOT a regular attendee but intends to attend more games in future to give the team encouragement? Gimme me a feckin break from clowns like this. If like many of us he was an ST holder or regular game attendee plus traveled to away games, incurring hotel costs etc, and didn't have to suffer the shite we have been served up all last season and now into this season then he would not be writing this drivel. The reality is that we play a division 3 team tomorrow and there is every likliehood we could get beat.
