  1. How long have you got? They've both been guilty of the same things inconsistency, poor leadership and unclear idealogy, the Shinners and the DUP love them or hate then have been strong on all these points. The UUP have basically been a shambles since the GFA , dreadful leaders like Reg Empey and Tom Elliott lost a lot of support, focused on silly campaign slogans like "Decent People Vote Ulster Unionists" (honestly, that was the slogan), they also lost popular figures to the DUP, most noticeably Jeffrey Donaldson and Arlene Foster who were far more aligned to the definitive stance of the DUP. Mike Nesbitt showed signs of improvement but again was unclear with his idealogy, asking Unionists to vote for the SDLP in areas is always a hard sell ,even though some do vote to keep SinnFein out it's never easy coming from a Unionist leader, the DUP just would never do it. The SDLP have been in pretty much the same situation, they haven't been able to replace their top politicians with the same quality as before and the rise of SinnFein has driven voters to them, again SinnFein have a clear mandate whereas nobody really knows what the SDLP want, politics around the UK has become very clear ,left or right , nationalist or Unionists ,yes or no. N.I is no different which is what we saw in the election. A lot of people who would have voted for SDLP beforehand now are happy to vote SinnFein because they don't just appeal to a hard-line armed struggle believer , their electorate is made up of middle class and young people who can clearly see that they have stronger politicians in their party. Can't see it changing any time soon ,perhaps we will end up with one unionist party and one nationalist, this would leave a lot of voters in limbo which is where the Alliance could step up but again they are at times in affective and perhaps lean towards the equality for all rhetoric too much as opposed to any conviction in their ideals.

  2. Just me who thinks that's a great deal? For all the hype he is actually utterly unproven over a full top flight season. That's a bigger fee than May, Stewart and Hemmings combined

  4. Nobody suggested that she was either a DUP member or voter. She could however be an academic, or a journalist, or the head of an NGO focusing on the political or sectarian divisions in the region. Which would make her rather well qualified to discuss the motivations, strategy etc. of the DUP. and far better qualified to do than its rank and file members. But rather than accept or reject that contribution based on any such relevant background information such as expertise, knowledge or sources our garden bigot's response was "what would she know about it being called Siobhan". So an exercise in bigoted stupidity then.

  14. Little Jimmy really loves tractors, he has tractor toys, tractor wallpaper, tractor bedding, tractor pyjamas, basicly everything he has is tractor related. When playing in a nearby field he stumbles across a real tractor, with no farmer around little Jimmy decides to have a sit in the tractor and pretends to have a drive. Suddenly out of nowhere the farmer arrives "Oi you ya little c**t!! Get the f**k oot ma tractor!" This upsets little Jimmy, he runs home, heart broken and pulls down his wall paper. He no longer likes tractors. 2 weeks pass and little Jimmy has a new found love; Fire engines! Everything he owns is to do with fire engines. Across the road from little Jimmys house, a fire breaks out at another house. Excited with all the fire engines, Jimmy goes down for a closer look at them. His attention is distracted however by hearing the firemen talk, "The smoke is too thick and the mother and baby are still inside, we cant get in" Little Jimmy interupts and said "I can help, trust me!" So the firemen, with no ideas left, let him help. Jimmy walks up to the door opens the letter box, puts his mouth up to it and sucks all the smoke out. The mother and baby are saved, Jimmy is a hero! The fireman asks Jimmy "That was amazing, how did you do that?"

  15. Sad if Cummings goes but he's earned it with those goals against Hearts, being part of the Scottish Cup team and signing that new contract last year to significantly bump up the price of this transfer. I would stay another season if I were him and try and prove to everyone that he can cut it in the top flight before heading south, but I can't blame him if he wants to go. Have a feeling he'll got lost in the shuffle down there and we'll see him back in Scotland (be it in Leith, Govan or - god forbid - Gorgie) soon enough. He's also one of the best personalities that Hibs have had in ages, not enough modern footballers like him tbh. ETA: I think people are being misled in their anger at the board if this "£1.4m" transfer fee has been accepted when we rejected £1.7m from Peterborough last year. IIRC, their offer was made up of tiny fragments of clauses etc. - so I would assume that this one is a fee up front.

  19. How could I forget: Sets alarm for 6:45, doesn't leave the bed until 7. Gave up on challenging this every morning as the resultant tired strop outweighs any benefit. If I get back from work anytime after 9, which is half the time, the front door is locked (in case she has a kip). That I can deal with, just. What I can't deal with however is when she invariably leaves the key pushed in on the other side, completely locking me out. Then says I woke her up by having the cheek to bang on the window in the rain to get into my own house.

  21. Thank you Jose. I don't read newspapers, have no real interest in any other team in Scotland, nor do I generally read any others threads on P&B. So I had completely missed this discussion previously. I have now read all of the posts on that thread from December and then skipped forward to the comments since this resurfaced on Friday. Now I have got a better understanding of the proposal I have to agree that this is utter pish! This clearly demonstrates the utter contempt that the football authorities have for SPFL 1 & 2 and HL/LL clubs. Pandering purely to mainly the OF's ambitions to the detriment the quality of competition and entertainment in the lower tiers, is at the very least insulting to fans and members of those clubs. I fail to see how this can be of any benefit to anyone. If the PL clubs want their U21 players to develop in competitive leagues, then as someone else suggested, get them out on loan. One or two PL loanees in League 1 & 2 squads can benefit both the player as well as the Club they play for, as long as they are played. But, that is not always the case as we saw with Mutch last season. it is the AGM this week, so I wonder if anyone attending will ask the board for their view on this. Be interesting to find the view of Mike Caird et al on this.

  36. Close. The stat is we've beaten both halves of the Old Firm in cup finals. (Even though they're not really Rangers!) I've never known a game to unite fans of all clubs as much as that final did! And to even have Pars fans on here today admitting to cheering the goal, well all faith in humanity is restored!

  37. Hibs late winner against Rangers in the cup final aside certainly the most I've celebrated a goal in a game that didn't involve the Pars.

  38. Me and another Pars fan were in Glasgow that weekend and watched it in the pub just outside Queen Street. There was a blue nose in there who literally got redder and angrier the more it went on and when you scored the winner... And we cheered... He looked like he was about to explode [emoji1]

  39. Fair enough I wasn't looking in the Raith thread because there was no transfer activity then I seen you made 3 good signings and seen a couple mentions of Vaughan leaving. Fact is there's no movement at all, it's impossible for him to be anywhere near Dundee and as I said he's spoken to Smith, talks went well and all is raring to go. Any signings made is nothing to do with the player moving out. Pressure is good at his age imo. Ive no idea what you have against the boy to be honest. He's always been completely respectful and grateful to the club, your agenda from the beginning when you messaged me is random.
