  8. Addison is 2 in May. Absolute basket case of a girl. Runs about daft all day and still sleeps 10+ hours a night even if she's been for a sleep during the day. She's right in to Teletubbies the now as she's obsessed with babies, ran up to me this morning and passed me the remote said "there you are" and then just the word "baby" Absolute diamond of a wee girl.

  11. I think time will show that this season has put the club back years (training facilities, community programmes and development squad aside). I've always maintained that I think we've got the core of a good squad, but that have had all their ability and confidence sucked out of them... however, as each game passes, they seem no closer to regaining them. A complete rebuild of our first team will be required, in order to repeat and build on (relative) successes of past few seasons. With several players on longer term deals, how easy will this be? How attractive will the club be to prospective signings, after this season? I'm working on the, possibly misguided, assumption that we'll still (somehow) be in the championship next season... if we're not, then I don't know what a realistic timescale would be to rebuild, achieve promotion, re-establish ourselves in the championship and then look at mounting play-off challenges, cup runs etc. We can blame Locke for being Locke, we can blame the players for not doing as well as they should have, we can blame Hughes for not turning things round as expected.... but, in my opinion, the buck ought to stop with the board. They appointed Locke; they signed off on his signings and agreed to deals that were detrimental to the club (e.g. Vaughan and Bates, goalkeeping shenanigans) and they allowed the rot to set in, leaving it far too late to bring in a replacement with a fighting chance of turning things round. To be fair, I think Hughes was the best appointment they could possibly have made - but he's been handed a hopeless task. I'm at a loss to think of what carrots the board can dangle, for us, to entice season ticket sales for 2017-18.

  14. If players miss a penalty, or an easy chance, or have a poor game, or get injured etc..that's not the responsibility of a board The financial health of a club which has a direct relation to its leverage to attract a specific calibre of manager and player is the responsibility of a board That's a general rule in the case of 99% of clubs We're the 1% exception (if as high as that) relating to the general health of the club because of its structure blurring the edges of responsibility. Sometimes 'members' are to shoulder a burden, while other times its not convenient for them to be fully informed due to technicalities. A model crafted by a small band of architects which became reality without any consultation If we are relegated, the arguments will become redundant. A handful of people attending can't sustain the club. If we avoid relegation, I suspect the CiC's days are numbered

  21. I'm watching in Dublin mate. On the laptop, in my bedroom, with earphones in. I try not to expose my children to the vile sectarian hate filled disease that you and your green brothers take such pleasure from because I'm a) a Glaswegian fitba' fan b) ashamed of my city/country whenever your hideously ugly hate machines posing as football clubs take to the field. c) as the inevitable Sevco capitulation plays out, my uncontrollable laughter annoys the wife. d) in the unusual event of a blue c***s win, my uncontrollable laughter annoys the wife. e) watching it brings an element of shame to me so I need to hide away from civilised society as I do so. It's a pity both sides can't lose like you force Scottish society to do. You?

  23. Edinburgh played on Tuesday away to Cowdenbeath and then away to the league leaders yesterday. Six points. Not buying the lack of training sessions/too many games patterns. We are simply a team filled with no commitment, no belief and no confidence. If we lose our next two games we must be favours for bottom spot. And who would back us against an in form East Kilbride? Desperate times. Will quite happily take nineth place at the seasons end and clear the club out from top bottom, on and off the pitch.

  25. I picked you up because all anyone has really said is this: 'JP and Peaso haven't had long but neither do we'. I wouldn't be me defending JP & Peaso when the club itself is lurching the way it is. You've replied: JP & Peaso have changed things... Nobody will ever agree on absolutely everything... They've made the changes people have cried out for... They know best because they've been close to the team... They've had a lot of bad luck... Individuals are to blame... There's actually been no lack of effort/aggression etc... I'll say just this. If they'd changed things in any helpful respect we'd have seen the last of Smith and Perry. We'd have seen McNiff at centre-half consistently. We'd have seen McNeil left/right back consistently. We'd also have seen McMillan at right/left back consistently. Not centre half, by Christ. Fundamentally, we wouldn't still be wondering what back line will appear week on week if they'd changed anything. Phil Johnston wouldn't be in the team at all. And we wouldn't all - including you - still be willing them to do things differently. As for the 'no lack of...'. I was at Berwick. I was there today. Don't give us it. Effort's one thing. Aggression and dig, those are different. There's one or two in there that are playing for their jobs, flinging themselves about. But I invite anyone to look at the Berwick highlights package. You will be shouting at the screen for our lads to dive in, to go to ground, to give them a dunt. Flynn, McNiff, Johnston. Go and look. Downtrodden I think was the first word I used in the initial post: it's an attitude. Some of them just do not see light at the end of the tunnel and they're in desperate need of persuasion. 14 without a win will do that even to decent players. You're wrong when you say only long-term coaching and new players - I'd like to see some - can change things. Manifestly wrong. We need someone in there who those lads can buy into quickly and send them out with the fear of coming back into the dressing room empty handed. Someone who'll do enough with the carrot to get us that one win that'll catalyse another one. I take the general point, mind you. What I say cannot be done in a bubble; bad players and bad selections are so irrespective of incentives. All the patter about them knowing best, bad luck, individual errors, how things could've gone differently in such and such a match... Sounds like the first bar of the Lowland League Blues to me.

  31. You have to laugh, otherwise you'd cry! What an absolute shambles of a team we are and the worrying part is, I don't see how we can turn it around. The players just don't seem up for it or good enough really bar a few. What options do we have though? Give Thorsen a go? Play Osei? Giving some youth players a chance is the only realistic thing that could really shake things up but if they don't hit the ground running then we're in the same predicament. Also, Skacel, Roberts and McManus shouldn't be on the pitch for a further minute this season, absolute diddies.

  38. I can't say in all honesty that I have been impressed with Gary Naysmith. East Fife supporters were very critical of the style of football that they played under him and sadly we are seeing a very similar pattern developing. Defence has been awful, midfield can't keep the ball, and up front we are simply wasting our marquee signing by not deploying him properly. No sign of any innovative tactics or coaching that leads you to believe that it will not be more of the same between now and end of season.

  46. Been spending a few hours on a Friday night reading this thread (I am a sad ground hopper who is well on the way to seeing a game at every professional ground in England and Scotland) and I have enjoyed the thread (thus far). I had to comment on this though as West Ham have now moved in and and I have been there to see my team Sunderland. Believe me, its probably the worst 'football' ground I have visited (and I also support Gateshead and have been to Cowdenbeath and Albion Rovers). Ours seats were in row 66 and the toilets were on the ground floor. There is no concourse for the upper level and all the so called facilities are miles away. The steelwork supporting the 'state of the art' roof totally blocked the view of the 'state of the art' video screen as well. The gaps between the upper and lower tiers are just weird and then you have the friendly loclas who made a nice welcoming party as we left the stadium and kicked the sh*t out of men women and kids. West Ham have sold their souls. They got that stadium on the cheap from tax payers and to be honest they are welcome to it as it will kill their club and everything it used to stand for. It's beyond hideous as a football stadium.
