  1. Meanwhile in other news your chairman was prepared to knock your ground down (your new ground after he knocked down your old ground already) in order to profit from some development land he owned and/or had an option on. Real long term stuff there. Without Bruce McDiarmid effectively pumping 20 million in mto Sainties you'd have been dead years ago. But your day is coming, don't doubt it. In the meantime take your shitey, second rate WUM act and go f**k yourself. You're a despicable little c**t.

  2. In a word; yes. — Oh dear, let's look at this clusterfuck of a post, one point at a time. In reading this, I'm going to go ahead and assume you have absolutely no understanding of what's involved in running a business. 1. There are almost always operational losses following new ownership, particularly when you're investing in infrastructure. The day to day operations of the club are polar opposites to 10 years ago, for example. From youth set-up to odd-field activities, we're more stable than we've been for as long as I can remember. 2. The piece of land you're referring to isn't owned by the club (as far as I'm aware), so why even mention it? 3. Dundee are not in need of being 'kept afloat'. The purpose of the investment from FPS wasn't to 'save us', it was to move us forward over time. We were already afloat thanks to the existing directors and fan ownership. Unlike Rangers, we saved our club. 4. This is the principle on which investment was accepted by the fan before diluting their shares. It was accepted on the basis they wouldn't be able to take money from the club until we were turning a profit. 5. Compared to most other Premiership/Championship clubs, it's a much more sustainable model. It's a safer model than your own club, for example. And, so far, it's working. 6. Yes — agreed. I know you're really, really trying to wind people up, but I think your time would be better spent looking at your own clubs fucking mental business model (see Fifespuds magnificent post above). Essentially, what I'm trying to say is shut your puss and f**k off. Thank you.

  4. Think you're spot on here. I've seen quite a bit of online outrage (mainly on FB) from fans of other teams, saying it's a disgrace that the game wasn't called off... I think it would've been a disgrace if it was called off! Why should Ayr have had to take a financial hit (stewarding, catering, hospitality, sponsorship etc) over a last minute cancellation due to the opposition failing to have adequate cover for a playing position. Never mind the 100 or so Rovers fans who probably had to leave work early and fork out petrol money to get down there. Last minute call offs due to weather are just one of those things unfortunately, but this situation was entirely preventable. I cant believe the Rovers have driven me to agree with the SPFL.

  5. But that only works if the thing being discussed is a matter of opinion. This is a matter of verifiable fact. I'm very happy to agree to differ when appropriate. However, if you have a go at me for saying things I didn't, I'll say so. Obviously none of this really matters and you can characterise it as heads gone, a meltdown or whatever pleases you, but as it happens, it does piss me off a bit. I don't accuse you of coming out with stuff you don't and if I make a mistake about something, I'll admit it. It just bugs me that you operate differently; perhaps it shouldn't.

  7. There isn't a decent team in the league this season. All that was required was two or three players who were passable and we'd have finished streets ahead of this rotten Hibs team. Eight players brought in and every single one has been shite or crippled. Houston's recruitment this season has blown the biggest chance we've had to get out of this midden of a league and I include Gary Holt's season in that.

  8. Welcome to Highland Scotland. This is a photo taken recently in an area of moorland. A truck full of dead hares. They are being killed, legally unbelievably, because game keepers say it helps prevent the spread of disease in grouse. I'm sick of what game keepers have to say because clearly they don't give a f**k about our wildlife. More shocking still is that the government allow this to happen. It's countryside management that's gone out of control. We should be promoting our wildlife to the world, not allowing for it to be destroyed for the benefit of the Tory game keepers. Game keepers: 1) Don't like trees 2) Don't like hares 3) Don't like raptors They are an actual shit stain on our land. Get them to f**k P.s. I'm not one for petitions but I signed this one. http://onekind.scot/campaigns/protect_mountain_hares_in_cairngorms_national_park/

  9. And once again they have Chick in the studio "monitoring events at Ibrox". The longer they persist with this, the more they undermine their stance. It's all well and good (rightly) standing by their employee but if they then go to extraordinary lengths to still cover Sevco it gives the impression of the BBC needing them more than they need the BBC. Its disgusting.

  11. It is indirectly Gary Locke's fault - spunked our budget, including his last act of signing a defender (which we didn't need) just before he was binned. Said defender hasn't even made the bench yet. By signing a 'keeper on loan to play in the development league (who is now injured) we didn't get a permanent one and resort to playing trialists. Therefore, there was no one to step up. Last night isn't Locke's fault but he created the conditions that led to what was, undoubtedly, a farce. He's a fucking bellend.

  12. Interesting. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Rovers don't have any more cash to pay for a 'keeper and thought they'd chance their arm with a postponement. It's the only reasonable explanation, if they've genuinely ignored all of those options (after having them explained by the SPFL board) then it screams "amateurs". Your right that Yogi looks like a fud there. Saying that an U21 keeper wouldn't have done any better than Stevo is neither here nor there, he had the chance to get a keeper and knocked it back and then moaned about having to use the squad he's got. That's before you get to his "they've never played futba" pish.

  16. Enjoyed an awesome moment today when I drove past a sparrowhawk with a broken wing. Turned the car around and managed to fling a blanket over the thing as it tried to hop away. Took it to the vet as directed by the RSPCA. Hoping to get in touch with them and hopefully they'll let me assist in the release of the bird. I'd never held a wild bird of prey before so that was pretty special. She had her talons wrapped round my fingers and gave me a wee cut. Don't have a great photo but heres a screen shot from the Facebook live video I took at the time

  17. If they genuinely have anything to say, that is worthwhile and has any credence, then we are going to need a mediator. Otherwise it will take about 3 mins for someone to wind someone else up, and bang goes another opportunity. Too many egos and too many who just aren't up to it. And that's just the business side of it.

  22. To clarify on some of the rule queries: "Emergency Loans" is just a name. Don't get caught up in it. It's a format of loan currently allowed outwith a window. An emergency loan was certainly available to Raith Rovers if they had been able to get one. They have already confirmed they had a deal in progress to sign a keeper from Celtic which fell through. Commons and Ambrose couldn't sign at the same time as you can only have one loan player born before 1st January 1995. There are loan limits. There are three different kinds of loan - Standard, Emergency and Development (u20's only). You can can have to five combined Standard and Emergency loans in total in a season but only four at any one time. You can have an additional four (I think) Development Loans which apply only for players born after 1st January 1997. You can't do that now. Was your previous incident in the SFL days? Rules were different then. An SPFL club (certainly a Championship one, not sure if the rule is relaxed at lower level) signing an amateur outwith a window is only given permission to play him at Development team level. They can't play first team until the next window opens. Eric Drysdale said in his interview last night that they couldn't play the 20's keeper (who is Australian and doesn't yet have international clearance anyway but leaving that aside) because he signed as an amateur and the SPFL doesn't let amateurs play first team. That's over-simplified but the gist is accurate. They can play first team (or Queens Park wouldn't be able to play a game!) but they can't sign outwith a window and do so. If you had signed an amateur keeper in January he'd be fine but signing one in February or now doesn't allow him to play first team until after the June window opens. Championship sides can't field trialists either. Any player signing would HAVE to get a contract to the end of the season anyway. The minimum length of professional contract is to the opening of the next window so any free agent signing would have to sign to June. The 3 clubs in a season rule certainly stops you bringing in anyone who has been on loan somewhere else already this season if he either has played or wants to remain eligible to play for his parent club too. It wouldn't stop anyone coming in on loan from a club who hasn't played anywhere else already though. No idea if Henderson was previously a professional footballer and never reinstated amateur? If so then he could have signed as a free agent in the same way Rab Douglas could have. If he's been a reinstated amateur then he'd have the same problem as the Australian boy in that signing as an amateur in February / March wouldn't see him allowed to play first team.

  25. I'm not sure there are many Rovers fans out there who don't blame the board/Hughes/Locke entirely. Completely amateur and we genuinely deserve to go down for the pathetic way we've ran ourselves this season. The list of errors we've made since McKinnon left is pretty long, and somehow not having a fit goalkeeper might not even be top of it. In terms of moving forward, if Hardie/Barr were capable of finishing exceptionally easy chances we'd probably be having a different discussion this morning. Ultimately a manager can't put the ball in the net for them, and we did create more chances than we have in a long, long time. However what does concern me is the new manager has tried three different systems in three matches. To me, it seems pretty obvious (and has done for a long time) that we need to do the following: As discussed, keep Davidson from the midfield, especially if it's a two-man job. In a match against Hibs or Dundee United, if we're playing three in the centre I could get over it. But not in a four man midfield. Matthews does a similar job far more effectively. Declan McManus should be reduced to an impact sub, at the very best. One goal in sixteen (off the bench), or two in 22 for the bold Declan. Or, if you prefer, one goal in his last 23 league appearances. He isn't good enough, he's not going to get any better, why are constantly playing him? Full-backs. It seems kind of obvious, but if we have our only two full-backs fit, pick them. I can understand 5 at the back last night, but moving forward Hughes needs to make a call between Barr/M'Voto/Bene. Thomson isn't quick enough or good enough on the ball to play as a wing-back, meaning we're totally reliant on McHattie or a central midfielder (lol) to create. Callachan could do with a couple of matches on the bench too, but I appreciate he may have to keep playing. Our options there just aren't very good. I really do think at this stage we have all the signs of a team doomed to relegation. We deserve it entirely, and if it does happen the board need to be braced for a backlash - this whole thing is 100% their fault. But we're not there yet. Hughes was the best option out there to replace Locke, he's clearly a very good manager, and if we can grab a result from somewhere the confidence might just carry us over the line. Ten matches left. Forty points seems a reasonable estimate of safety. Fourteen points to go, but we have some tricky fixtures. Probably need to match St Mirren in our head-to-head, beat Ayr at home, beat QoS at home, and find a couple of wins elsewhere (Dunfermline/Dumbarton away, Morton at home look the most achievable). Pressure is well and truly on.

  28. I see some people's choice, Jim Duffy, has written a timely column in the Sun showing disbelief that the "board" at 'Well would ask "the supporters" their opinion before sacking McGhee. He somehow thinks that letting "supporters into the Boardroom" is a problem - the bizarre inference being that boards without supporters' rep's somehow make more rational decisions - something that is patently nonsense given the decisions that traditional Boards have been responsible for over the years. He seems totally unaware that in this case, the "supporters" are actually part of the main board (and are not in a majority in any case AFAIK). These Reps are party to the same information as the other Directors and are making decisions from the the same position. It isn't as if they balloted the members of the 'Well society before making their decision and have overruled the other Directors (the only such ballot was whether or not to admit The Rangers into the SPL, called by our traditional board at the time). I didn't favour Duffy anyway as I remember that Hibs team he relegated against all the odds - but the pish in that column means he can f**k off basically...

  29. I said after the Queens game that last night wouldn't be the decider for us, but it's exceptionally frustrating that we're in the position we're in and if we continue as we are, it won't be long before it'll be too late. The goalkeeper farce is absolutely ridiculous. Not one person came out of last night in a good light for our club aside from Stevo who by all accounts made a couple of good saves. Listening to Drysdale's interview, it's clear that they'd exhausted every option but the possibility of playing an outfield player in goal was always going to be something which could've happened since we faced Dundee United and Cuthbert got injured. The fact nothing has been done during that period up to Brennan's injury is crazy, albeit I appreciate we have budget constraints. For the rest of the team, they really need to have a look at what's going on. The goal last night was a simple short corner and McHattie was too slow to get out to it. Despite having Benedictus, Barr and M'Voto all in there we couldn't in the header in the box. Obviously we'll concede goals, but it just appeared we've been beaten in the split seconds over the park at that moment. In midfield, we're far too raw. Davidson adds experience, but he's also utterly rancid. Callachan is a good player when he sticks to the basics. If he can focus on getting the ball up the pitch, then brilliant. But speculative 30 yard shots into the stand don't help anyone. I've been unsure over Jordan Thompson all season, but I really don't see what he offers us in the team. I'd far rather we dropped him and Davidson, and replace him with Craig Barr and Matthews. On the wings, neither Johnstone or Scott Roberts should be starting. It simply needs to be Bobby Barr and Coustrain. Both are quick and skillful players who have the attributes to drive on and attack teams. Up front is utter chaos. Stewart and Hardie worked well last season, but we're missing the creativitiy in midfield which we had in the likes of Aiden Connolly, Louis Longridge and James Craigen. Those three were superb last season in terms of getting the ball forward or find passes. McManus is far too similar to Stewart, but doesn't seem to be in the box enough to be effective. Can't see Skacel getting starts given he's not featured under Hughes. And Osei looked very raw at the start of the season, but has been scoring for fun in the development league, but in untested at this level. I'd rather we cut out the extra man in midfield, sign a goal keeper and go to a 4-4-2 rather than trying stuff like 4-2-3-1 and complicating things. It's a case where we're in a shit situation, and shit decisions have been made, but we've still got 10 games to play. Clubs like Dumbarton and St Mirren aren't going to be sitting about moaning about their luck. We need the players to go out and start getting a siege mentality.

  34. The statement, put out by the club, was a clear attempt to whip up sympathy and paint the SPFL as the bad guys in this scenario - implying unnecessary red tape and lack of cooperation had got us into this situation and that the club only had 72 hours in which to find a replacement. Nonsense. The moment it became clear that Cuthbert required an op, we should've been looking to bring in another keeper (u21 loan or a free agent) or at the very least have an agreement with a club / player to draft a loanee / signing in, at the last minute, should they be required. Contrary to the way the board have tried to make things look, this situation didn't manifest over 72 hours, we've been playing without a keeper on the bench, for the past few weeks - this was a calculated risk. We all appreciate budget constraints and regulations surrounding loans, but the situation is so frustrating when you consider the huge squad we have and signings the board have sanctioned, which have added nothing and made little sense - Robbie Crawford, Rudi Skacel and Scott Roberts spring to mind, but I could go on... I'll give Stevenson a break though, after yesterday! Losing three keepers to injury is incredibly unlucky, but it didn't happen overnight. There were a couple of weeks to make arrangements before the situation became desperate. The club took the risk not to do that - that was their gamble. Superb job by Stevenson last night. Shame his efforts were so badly let down by his teammates failing to score. Hughes is doing his best, and I genuinely think he will manage to pull us to safety, but he's been handed a team of players who just seem to be devoid of confidence and even the most basic of skills at times. We know that most of them are better than this, but this season just seems to have sucked it all out of them. With the best will in the world, Hughes can't instill it all back into them overnight - but he's going to have to if we're going to avoid the drop.

  43. Losing a wee bit of money, have a managable amount of debt, and budget model that we fell two league places short of meeting the requirements of, and we do actually care. The thing is that these guys knew they were coming into the difficult market which is Scottish football, and have gotten our club running relatively well compared to the basket case it was run as under the schysters that came before them. They have more than enough money to bankroll us as a charity case for decades, but they're intent on changing the culture around the club which takes years and plenty of effort. As a man who supports a club who probably makes more money from it's function suite, car park, and conference centre than it does from footballing activity, surely you can understand why moving to a new stadium is a priority in getting the finances in order and totally under control.
