It's actually quite easy to do if you bin every receipt and payslip you've ever received, and then just put "nothing" or "no" into all the little boxes - hoping that you don't earn enough for them to actually care. Unfortunately, it calculated that they owe me £12 which might put a wee-red flag against my name. I was hoping there would be a wee box that said "Just keep the extra money and put it towards Trident" or something, but sadly there wasn't.

  6. Popped into the wee Esso & Tesco on the way in/out of Dumfries this afternoon. Genuinely don't know if the punter in front of me was at it, or if he genuinely had Tourette's, but he was a bit twitchy in the queue before slapping the boy in front of him on the shoulder and letting out a cry of "Tits!" followed by a Ric Flair-esque "Woooo!!!" [emoji1] Held it together quite well in the shop, but once back in the van, I pretty much laughed about it all the way up the road.

  7. 'Grats on (almost certainly) brining in Ojamaa. He's decent enough from what I could tell over his two periods in the Netherlands (before Motherwell he had a spell with Fortuna Sittard). However, he barely got any playtime in the weakest team of our top league despite scoring one of the best goals of the season so far; Hope he gets more time on the pitch and, more importantly, goals for you lads.

  9. I must admit, waking up to that this morning is the first time I've genuinely felt a wee bit scared by his actions. He said he was going to build a wall, he said he'd ban Muslims, so when the people were stupid/bigoted enough to vote for him, I was hardly surprised to see him doing it. But this? This is getting into the realms of only surrounding yourself with people who agree with you. That is scary enough, but the 'betrayal' language is even more terrifying. Just in case anyone has forgotten here's where he's now at: Anyone who disagrees with him is said to have betrayed him, the press that point out his inaccuracies are lying and it's a conspiracy. Anyone who looks a bit foreign is not a proper American. The country is in a mess because of another race stealing all the jobs. The country is under severe threat from another religion and they must be, in effect, banned (or at the very least 'sent back to their own country...even if they are Americans...). White, Christian Americans are the leaders of the country, and can do no wrong. How can people not see what's happening here? Surely it's only a matter of time before he is impeached....it has to be.

  12. Right, wee bit more on this now I'm home. He's a weird player, but like I said Colin Nish is the only other guy I've seen like him. He's tall and lanky, decent in the air but not particularly strong at holding play up. His first touch can be sublime at times, but at others it doesn't look as if he's in control of his legs. His distribution has been pretty meh, a few nice balls through but nothing special. The absolute biggest problem he has is that he is beyond wasteful in front of goal. I mean he finds new ways to miss the target week after week. Our home fans have already near enough turned on him because of how many good chances he's passed up and you never feel confident in the slightest with him one-on-one. Since October he's been playing out wide for us, where he's been slightly better courtesy of not getting the chances, but he doesn't really have the pace to be a great winger. This, from the weekend, sums him up perfectly. Decent pass, decent movement, good feet, completely sclaffs shot He definitely has potential. His movement, touch and ability in the air all mean he should be more effective than he is - but at the moment, if you were to allow me to choose one member of our starting 11 to sign for Morton, it would be him. Nade and Fleming are both far more effective in his main role for us at the minute. Is he better than Kudos? Probably. Although I get the feeling he's similar in front of goal.

  14. Manager's saying one thing before the game and another after is as old as the hills and for Willie Miller to be so angry about it is a joke. As has been said before, he never has a single good thing to say about Caley, I think he gets pissed off at having to drive to Inverness to work. He was right about us being awful on Saturday though, can't say he was wrong there. Regarding Hibs and Dundee Utd, the point that rankles is that these clubs have been relegated because they deserved it. Hibs were awful for years before finally going down - I think they finished 9th or 10th for three or four seasons before they finally went down. They seem to be rebuilding now, which is good because I like them, but they utterly 100% deserve to be where they are. Dundee Utd fell apart a lot quicker than that but when they did they did it spectacularly, an absolute shambles from them. Saying that having teams in the top flight is part of some sort of natural order is pish. There are teams in the seaside leagues who used to be considered a big scalp for Caley and Ross County in teh Scottish Cup. St Mirren will likely be in those leagues next season and it isn't that long since they broke the Scottish transfer record. It's sport - things change. Stuart Cosgrove wrote an article in Nutmeg a few months back pointing out the bias against clubs like St Johnstone and ICT in favour of 'traditional' clubs. I think this is similar to that, people think that somehow there is a 'peak Scottish football', there's some configuration that we can set things to and the crowds will come back, we'll succeed in Europe and have a great national team. It's all bollocks of course.

  30. Maybe if Willie Miller channelled his anger into running his businesses properly he wouldn't have had so many failed start ups over the years. Or maybe that explains why he's a perma seething mess. There was a lot of guff recently about why the 18,000 sell out between Hibs and Dundee United showed why they should be in the Premiership. That large crowd was great of course but it was only that big because both sides were at the upper end of the Championship and it was a massive game for both sides. Crowds for the same fixture in the Premiership were getting around half that. We really need to kill this notion that because a team has a big crowd they deserve to be in the top league.

  33. I'm struggling to think of a list with plenty of contentious stuff that the Board has been responsible for. Yes, there have been a couple of issues I would list that, on the face of it, were not handled particularly well. The dealings with the so called Young Team, faults on both sides imo, signing players without a Manager in place. Skelton's hiring and eventual departure and the Interim Managers role in this. I doubt if a non-voting supporter's rep on the Board would have had much if any effect on these issues however. To be clear, I don't consider myself a "forelock tugger" just an ordinary supporter who, from the outside, considers that the current Board has achieved more "pros" than "cons" over the past few years. I won't be too upset either way if a fans rep is eventually put on the Board or not, but for some to be suggesting that it's essential as the club is being so poorly run is a poor basis for mounting the campaign. I eagerly await a list from disgruntled supporters why they think the Board are not doing a reasonable job and what difference a fans rep would or could have changed things.

  34. Cheers! You don't come across as patronising. I'd wager that the majority on Rovers fans on here like your insight. I know you've mentioned before you've known a few of the players, and it's always good to get the perspective of someone outside the fanbase. In particular, it's interesting to hear what you've mentioned about a potential split. It genuinely feels like the morale among the players is very limited. My outstanding McCulloch memory, aside from brutalising Carrick, was playing them in the Ramsden's Cup final at ER when they won a free kick for hee-haw, only for Cardle to run past the ball to the other side of the pitch. Elbows punted it at him, then started greeting to Clancy resulting in our player getting a booking. For all Rovers are shite at the moment, and I'm frustrated with the club, I still fucking love thinking back to that day. I still picture the union jack plastic bowler hat running along the side of the pitch as our players bolted to our fans after the final whistle went, their own fans streaming out. Laugh? I almost fucking died pissing myself.

  36. I took a thought on Saturday that Chris Johnston might not have actually won a league game with us, in my mind he returned round about the 0-0 at East End Park but it was slightly earlier than that. Having looked at it, Johnston has actually appeared in three league wins, starting just one (the lucky 1-0 over Queen of the South, our last victory - he was subbed on 75 minutes with the score 0-0). This then led me on to looking at our record with Johnston/Barr both playing. I posted the below after the 0-0 with Dumbarton in November... Johnston's on the pitch league record is scored four, conceded thirteen. This is from fifteen league appearances. Now in fairness to him, of the four we've scored with him on the park, he's scored one (Falkirk) and assisted one (M'Voto v Hibs). Our record with Barr/Johnston simultaneously on the pitch. Scored three, conceded eleven, from eight such occasions. Contrast this now with our record with only Bobby Barr on the pitch, and no Chris Johnston - scored sixteen, conceded twelve. Now there are a range of factors involved in this, I'm not saying it's exclusively the problem, and I think Johnston mostly as an individual has been somewhere been OK and decent for us. It isn't a dig at him, it's a dig at the manager for not noticing this pattern. Very few teams at this level constantly play a flat 4-4-2 with two attacking wingers. Grant Murray played it virtually through his entire tenure and never got out of the 6th/7th/8th rut. The stats show we are significantly worse when we play both Johnston and Barr, we are so easy to play against with space behind the wingers that the central midfielders just can't cover. Virtually all our better performances (and victories) came with either Ross Matthews on the right wing tucking in on opposition attacks, or a three man midfield, in which Callachan thrives. In fact, we have won just two matches in which both Bobby Barr and Chris Johnston have appeared - 3-2 v Dumbarton, when Johnston came on the park at 3-1, and Falkirk away where Johnston replaced Barr. So one victory where they've simultaneously been on the park, and that came when we were already 3-1 up. If I, a pillock on a message board with access to Soccerbase, can not only see this pattern now but also call it in early November, why can't our manager, assistant manager, coaching team or team of match analysts/statisticians notice? Or have they noticed and continue to do nothing about it? Just one of a long list of reasons why he's shown he's just not upto football management in his spell here so far. Face it Eric and correct the mistake now before it's too late...

  42. Don't really care. I think there's a better understanding of Tourette's these days and it's ok to laugh at the ridiculousness of some of it. The guy himself and the boy he slapped had a laugh together after a wee apology. The checkout girls had a wee giggle too. Perhaps if folk were making fun of him it would be a different story... The general lack of surprise by the folk working in the shop made me wonder if the guy is local and fairly well known around there.
