  4. After arriving exactly 1 month early on Xmas day via emergency C-section, spending 2 nights in the neonatal unit and a struggle to get the feeding sorted, this wee lad and his brilliant mum came home last night. I was sitting with him in my arms at midnight seeing in the new year, best Xmas and Hogmanay I'll ever have. Amazing to see his change from being whisked away 4hrs old struggling with his breathing to being home and doing well. A tough tough cookie, much like SJC's wee one who I hope continues to fight & recover to full health.

  11. When Hodge was hooked at Half Time in the 2-2 game against yourselves, it was obvious that he just wasn't fancied by Mackay. Colquhoun was brought in afterwards and he and Beith became the Midfield pairing. You shouldn't read too much of Hodge being released from us. In a 4-2-3-1 formation, (which Stuart McLaren favoured.....and I think Dick Campbell does as well, but I might be wrong) Hodge played well just sitting in front of the back four, but he did appear to struggle in Mackay's preferred 4-3-3. Although Bryan Hodge didn't do anything of note to stand out, he didn't really do anything wrong either and was probably surplus to requirement due to not fitting in with formations rather than his actual ability. To win the ball and pass it, he's good, possibly the best in the league, but you'll never get any more than that out of him. If that's what you are missing in the middle of the park, then Hodge is your man, if not, then he's been brought in to cover. I wish him well though, under McLaren I liked him and felt he was one of the few who regularly had pass marks.

  19. I think with Andy Rodgers playing for you, you have a great advantage in that league. He is a class above that level, he might not be as fit as he was but his awareness and positioning will stand out. Hope you win the league. The hubris of the East Kilbride captain is ridiculous and deserves to be shat upon.

  21. And? He trains full-time with Celtic currently, who surely have better facilities/coaches at their disposal. The whole thing makes no sense if they are peddling that it will aid his development. There absolutely nothing to suggest it will and it seems very odd making him leave when he wanted to stay and was doing well. I can only assume Naysmith has a mate at Celtic who is doing him a favour and they are spouting pish to us. Either way, like I said before, poor form from them and they can suck ma bawz.

  22. To be honest, I think the decline started before that. The EK Clyde thing is no longer on the table. This, Broadwood and the board, I'm afraid to say, are being used as an excuse for fans that probably wouldn't attend anyway. I've no issue with fans not going for any reason but to continually find excuses when none are required annoys me. I go to the games because I support Clyde. I don't support the board, Broadwood or Cumbernauld. I don't claim to be a better fan, I don't claim to be more loyal. I just enjoy watching Clyde.

  23. Having decided years ago to only attend the odd game as I personally have no faith in those who are guardians of this so called supporters owned club, I ventured out yesterday with my boy wearing the Generations shirt proudly. We shouldn't have bothered! The team have a fantastic forward in Peter McDonald but the defence is as woeful as the last time I visited. Cost of watching football at the bottom end including a programme ( bit cheeky to charge full price for a reduced version) and refreshments over £30. At that cost I'm not surprised crowds are dwindling. I fully understand the guy who has had enough. If you are content to follow a club who have found their level in the bottom league as someone else said, then you can only expect to have a crowd base on par with East Stirling. You can blame the manager for the team performance, but the state of the club is entirely in the hands of those appointed to run the clubs affairs. The name change started the decline in the support with the we are leaving/ we are not leaving Broadwood sagas compounding it. Sadly I don't see this grand old club being around for much longer as it is being driven into the ground intentionally or unintentionally. if you want people attend, you have to give them a reason to.....at the moment in my opinion there doesn't seem to be one.

  24. That term's been used by many people for years referring to fans who've followed the club from Shawfield to Firhill to Douglas Park & onwards. Is that news? You seem animated about its use in a specific post, can you show me which one? Or on the assumption you've got a life and don't have time to traipse through posts, I'll explain it for you We all inherited a situation due to a decision taken in the 30's that benefited the club short term, but was catastrophic long term. The idea Clyde had to sell their ground is a myth - what, he sold it to himself with his new organisation the GRA he set up to get around a ruling?? The idea is you learn from your own history. The club are again looking at their long term future. Presumably we all hope the club are around many years to come and flourishing, that future generations don't look back and ask why they were left with a legacy condemning them to forever being in the lowest reaches. So it's a key decision and from the VC's comments today they've shortlisted 4 options. So they have to balance that with kick starting the process via an option most of the existing support can buy into. If only 200 or 300 go for it, there's no chance. It's also time sensitive, to re-build they need to make a statement of intent. As each year goes by, you only need to look at the posts of some diehards in the last 24 hours. But this is where the wider consultation last year made sense, use it as some kind of a guide. So yes, they've got to consider it carefully but also mindful the clock's ticking. What has this got to do with any specific group of fans, old guard, new guard, train guard....what are you talking about?

  31. So it looks like Thomson will be joining Queens. I'm really, really disappointed that Celtic have recalled him to send him to a direct rival. I find that really poor form when it's of no benefit to the player.

  33. Here's the wee highlights package on him. Genuinely hope a proper run of games allows him to kick on as he's been caught in a kind of no-mans land between being a level or two above dev league (he played in the Youth Cup winning side last season) and not being able to establish himself in the first team, especially when we've had Marvin Johnson, Lionel Ainsworth and Chris Cadden as options on the wings ahead of him.

  42. I was one of the ones who made what you might call a 'fatalistic' post in the wake of the Bonnyrigg shambles. And from my point of view, it certainly wasn't knee-jerk after such an embarrassing result. I imagine I might be in the same boat as others in that my response to that was a last straw at the time. The last straw to inept performances, rigid tactics, uninspiring management and above all, a long list of poor performances and an unacceptable run of results. But credit where credit is due. Well Done Stevie Aitken and the management team and of course the players. After the Bonnyrigg result we were at a majorly low ebb and it was difficult to see a way out, but we've taken 7 from 9, pinged up the table and look like a much better unit and a confident one at that. On Stevenson, I've been one of his harshest critics in that I, as everyone else presumably does, see that he has undoubted ability, but we only saw two or three glimpses of it. For me, he's been uninterested, lazy, inconsistent in his affecting of games, and became all to predictable in what he was going to do. And if he was on a hefty wage then I'm glad we're shot of him. Again, credit must go to Aitken for that as well. We certainly seem to have turned a corner, and long may it continue. I look forward to Nade's certain goal and I wait with excitement for his celebration in the Hibs game to come. But football is all about opinions and it'd be boring if we all agreed. I do agree in wishing you and all other Sons fans the best for the coming year!

  46. Joining in the shoppers getting in the way theme, I'm afraid I totally lost it today. Pushing my wife around the shops in her wheelchair and we gets stuck in a clothes shop aisle behind two women who are gassing away, oblivious to the world. After coughing and trying a polite "Excuse me", we're totally ignored so I tried to turn the wheelchair in the narrow aisle but couldn't. Tried reversing but somebody had brought up a clothes rail so the route was blocked. So once again but a bit louder I said "Excuse me" and one of the women turns, looks at me then looks at the wife as if she was a piece of shit, "tuts" loudly then turns back to her pal and continues yacking. If there hadn't been a wheelchair between us I swear I would have lamped her. Instead, I very loudly roared "GET OUT OF MY FUCKING WAY YOU IGNORANT FUCKING BITCH!". The entire shop stopped dead to turn and look and she damn near shat herself as her pal pulled her out the way. As we went past her I called her a "Stupid c**t" only slightly less loudly than before. I'm now in the bad books with the wife for making a scene. WTF?

  47. We can't have ideas above our station. We are gonna be a club that has knock backs and shite seasons from time to time. We've not got a big enough budget to guarantee success every season regardless if it's the 5th biggest. I'd wager our budget is closer to the smallest in the league than it is to the 4th biggest. Therefore losing a couple of good players (And we lost our best 4) and anything less than bringing in perfect replacements 100% of the time - then we will struggle. Nobody is perfect and Hartley's head shouldn't be rolling just because he's had one bad summer that at the end of the day, even at this moment in time is unlikely to take us down.
