I think it was Jens Lehman, interviewed during the Euros, who said the reason we were so bad at football in this country is that compared to our European counterparts our players and coaches are not bright enough. In any other society, Barry Ferguson would spend his days in a cage eating crayons yet here he's tasked with running a football club.5 points

Well, Sean Murray came through on one promise. You can play it forever and you'll never bump into anyone else in the Universe.4 points

FC Krasnodor of Russia have built this absolute peach of a stadium based on the Colosseum, with a crazy 360 degree screen thing. Only holds 36000 as well.3 points

Because it is easier to swallow bite sized chunks of primary colour, emotive nonsense than have to consider the actual ramifications. And folk were spoon fed these flag waving memes by c***s. I'm not saying all leave voters are idiots, far from it. But leave certainly captured the market. Interesting article in the New Statesmen, on bias.3 points

That's got to be treated as excellent news, given where he plays. How far away from fitness do we think he is? What exactly is the nature of his difficulties? There was scary talk on here in the summer of his career being in real danger. For the sake of both parties, it would be great if this worked out. It's still a shame that it went wrong for him at Hibs though. I think everyone wished him well with that move.2 points

Jim may be inexperienced as a manager but he along with Gary Teale were first team coaches under Tommy Craig in the Premiership. He was also involved in taking the U20's (who are relatively successful often finishing above Premiership teams in the U20 League). He is quite a charismatic character and very popular (and maybe opinionated) and is a born leader and winner. He has all his coaching badges and his ambition is to manage. And besides that he is still a great player and captain playing every week. His dual role, drive, enthusiasm, and experience would be a good asset to Alloa in my opinion. I do not know who he was up against but a player/manager would a good fit for Alloa for this season I would think.2 points

Mmm. Keep some oatcakes in the glovebox and if you're ever stranded in a snowstorm you can survive on this delicacy festering in your motor.2 points

With most of the results now in, we can see the usual suspects up the top of the leaderboard (though it's nice to see Supermik's blackstar in there). Down near the bottom, SlipperyP is having a bit of a 'mare after a strong cup performance. @Marr1... fancy taking Monday's quiz? (just scroll back a couple of pages to Eednud's post) ... World mental health day today apparently. Good to see an attempt to get folk talking and get rid of some of the stigma around mental health. Hope everyone is good [emoji106]2 points

Britain can't engage in talks on trade deals until it leaves the EU. At best, countries can be "sounded out" about a deal when we actually leave. Norway's response therefore seems perfectly reasonable to me. I don't see anything other than a non-story here either. Of more concern would be a Norwegian parliamentarian's reservations about the UK joining EFTA and distorting the balance.1 point

Shandon Par was obviously sat up there dressed as a clown trying to freak the locals out and then got shot down and killed. It's a shame because he was a nice guy, if a little odd.1 point

About a third of a way through a decent film on Amazon and my broadband goes down. Last time it was some Moray farmer c**t putting his spade through the cable. If it's Mozzamozza getting his revenge in it's not fucking funny.1 point

Personally, I find issues like employment tribunal fees quite important. Suppose it isn't your march down a street behind a flag kind of politics though.1 point

I remain an idealist and value the free movement of labour/goods/capital/people irrespective of short-term economic and social changes. Then again, I love nipping in to the Polish deli just down the road and buying a load of pickled herring, smoked cheese and sausages. High Wycombe is a culinary desert made bearable by the incomers. I doubt Brexit will have much impact on the people who voted for it. A lot of immigration had nothing to do with The EU in the first place and, certainly in London, the recruitment of well-educated and thoroughly capable Europeans willl continue.1 point
