  3. The only despicable woman appearing on every media outlet - since the dawn of time seemingly - is not so cuddly Ruth. Busy trying to shout down EU citizens living in Scotland by day, rambling on about "what the people of Scotland want" by night. Which is of course utterly laughable coming from the leader who achieved a far smaller share of the vote in Scotland in May's election than Margaret Thatcher did on all three occasions. She knows f**k all about what the people of Scotland want - that's why they didn't vote for her or her shit party.

  5. The whole idea of a state representing a native people and its traditions is history. Globalisation has knocked that for six and unless the entire world economy takes a completely different path as a result of some terrible disaster its not coming back. It's one of those ironies that the very people who now decry immigration are the very people that put control of the economic markets into private hands. It's the very same people that destroyed the British state through Thatcherism that now suddenly want to go backwards. But what these people have failed to realise is that nationalism is subservient to the markets now. Privatization and the dropping of controls means private profit, not the continuation of a nationalist state, is the be all and end all of government policy. They destroyed, strip mined, cut to the bone the British state for their own greed, profiteering off stolen national assets, now the full consequences are apparently and its a different story and two generations of working class and lower middle class 'conservatives' want to go into full rewind mode back to a time before there own decisions destroyed the country. This world that they seem to hate so much is a direct consequence of their own stupid, greedy, pocket lining. Impact on communities? Your figurehead said there was no such thing as society. Local services, stripped away by 40 years of right wing governments. Lack of control, well who gave it away? Big business and the wealthy, the trickle down didn't trickle down like the left said it wouldn't?

  6. We knew this was going to happen. That's why the last four years have on the whole been the most enjoyable time in Scottish Football. The game's up the poley again now though.

  13. Seriously, this "expenses" line is fairly tedious. EK are spending more on their playing squad than anyone in the LL. You only have to look at the players they have and where they came from to know that. There's nothing wrong with this, they earned the right to do it through performance in the Scottish and by being a well run club even before that. They are ambitious and want to get into the SPFL and are spending the money (pretty well it seems, not as if they are bringing in poor players) to give themselves the best possible chance to do so. I don't understand why anyone has a problem with that or would feel the need to try to convince anyone that their squad is expenses based to any great degree (obviously there might be a handful). If its sustainable for the club and gets them where they want to be, fair play to them.

He might have some points about the proposed Champions League changes, but Doncaster really has some brass neck to be coming out with statements like this: "Uefa has a duty to act on behalf of the entire game, not just a few, select clubs and leagues and it must take that duty far more seriously if it is not to risk presiding over a harmful fragmentation of the game." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37313399

  20. I assume it's prerecorded but I agree and had noticed it more in those highlights (obviously ). But it was far more cringeworthy. After 4, let it go ffs. Though I'd be happy for it to never be played. The same goes for the Shrek - What are you doing in my swamp?!

  22. You're contradicting yourself here. The police do not only have the option of shutting these places down. They've been wilfully obstructive and painfully out of touch with the discussion. It's the police that point blank refuse to allow testing stations within venues. You also had police responses ranging from turning the music off every hour for five minutes in the Arches case and suggesting that it was faster BPMs that were encouraging people to take more drugs. The point I made was that if you're going to shut every offending place down then you will have to shut every single club, festival and bigger event spaces down because there is no clean venue.

  24. You're not going to find a single club that caters to dance music that isn't seen as "drug friendly". Even the big gigs at the Royal Highland Centre and their stringent measures don't even come close to catching everyone smuggling in pills. Like it or not drugs are synonymous with electronic music and for every person that claims the music is their drug there's another person that enhances their night with chemicals. Incidentally that doesn't make them any less of a fan.

  27. There are a few weeks in Scottish Football where producing 5 solid hours of interesting, informative radio between Monday and Friday is possible. And there's other weeks when it's not. On those weeks they should just hand the MW frequency over to Brian Burnett at 7:00pm rather than trying to force a "discussion" about nothing Focusing exclusively on the old firm game just exacerbates the situation further. Sure it's a big game but no game is that big. Trying to make 5 hours worth of build up out of the world cup final worth listening too would be bad enough. There's only so many ways of phrasing "Celtic will probably win but they might not and there's another three to come anyway"

After penning my masterpiece and moving on tae the opposite page my workmanship would be smudged with my left fore-arm. Nowadays it would be considered art

  36. Left handed people are superior to right handed people? It's been proven scientifically that left handed people are more intelligent, better looking* and better at sports. Will you bow before your left handed overlords? There are (and this has been prove scientifically proven) no disadvantages to being left handed. *has not been scientifically proven

  40. It's not so much the ex-OF pros, journalists and pundits churning out the nonsense which infuriates. It's the way that anything they say gets passed through totally unchallenged. You'd genuinely think the sporting world was coming to a halt to watch the Glasgow derby. As for the country having suffered economically, environmentally and socially . Aye, that's right... Rangers in SFL3 caused the recession, the floods and the riots. Do they go on the same in Athens, Moscow, Istanbul and so on - or is this a specifically Scottish indulgence?

  43. This is why I have no respect for any journalist or broadcaster covering the Scottish game. If there is any genuine ability in them they've sold it to the devil for a career based on basically promoting sectarianism and two teams at the expense of the Scottish game. If they are allowed some criticism of them it'll be minor and brief and will soon be followed with twice as much praise to counter it. If they were genuine professionals they'd be desperate to get stuck into the true stories of bigotry and corruption but they don't. They just toe the party line in exchange for a quiet life and presumably decent remuneration. Sod the lot of them.
