  4. Holt wasn't perfect but I'd say his first season of first team management was a hell of a lot better than Pressley's. Someone else will eventually find out whether Holt will go on to become a decent manager I would presume as we didn't really have him long enough to find out . Some youngsters improved under him whilst others stagnated. Its like that with most managers I feel though.

  9. Players ?The season that Kingsley shone at centre half as well as left back, McGrandles had his best season, Alston had a decent season, Vaulks at right back won a few POTY, Fulton didnt do too badly either and was dropped from the team when needed, something Elvis refused to do. As for Elvis, failed to keep us up, where in my opinion an experienced manager wouldve kept us up, it wasnt mission impossible the task, then with a large budget of players on prem players he adds more dross, gives us our worst heartless performances against the pars in many years and loses a third of our games in the league, where on paper, it wasnt a great side but shouldve been challenging....again an experienced manager wouldve done better. Following season his hands were tied and he got lucky till January but the youngsters worked well, I personally feel going far in the both challenge cup and league cup playing mainly lower league teams, instilled confidence within the group and winning became a habit albeit against lower level teams but carried on to the league. February onwards tho we only won 4 games in 15 league games and losing out to 2nd place by 3 pts of which Dundee got promoted. The following season started off with 1 league win in 8, yep progress is a bugger.... I'll grant Elvis a pass for the hands forced to play kids season but look at the progress made since he has left, Holt with a lesser budget had us in play offs playing attacking football, Houstie cup final then now play offs, the latter showing what experience can do. Elvis simply, failed to keep us up, failed to challenge for the league when it was a hell of a lot easier to challenge than it is now and his fist pump at a 0-0 midweek away draw to to Morton is thankfully history

  10. It may be, though not sure how many call ups they'll actually have with the likes of Onuwa, Thompson, Hardie and Walsh all away or out on loan. McKay and Zelalem will no doubt be called up. They will need a third to get the option. Shiels might be with Northern Ireland. Or they may have others with the 19's.

  12. So, your saying the UK has permanently shafted Scotland to such an extent, that independence can never be made to work, and that only gradual decline under UK stewardship is possible? Quite frankly, I think GERS is bollocks, it doesn't really tell you how well Scotland's economy is doing, it only tells you how much public spending is made relative to the UK, and even then it's largely guesswork. There is absolutely no figures on the levels of private capital investment, or exports from Scotland, no clue as to the wider picture of how Scotland's balance of trade is working, therefore we can say with no confidence what interest rates would be. I don't doubt that different spending decisions would be made by an independent Scotland, whether on tax and spend, or on defence, or on welfare. We don't know what the debt situation would be in an independent Scotland (we always assume a per head share, but that could change dependent on certain conditions like the basing rights for Trident). Crucially, there is no evidence that Westminster is willing to tailor it's public spending requirements, or give scotland the full powers to do so itself, to close what you believe is a catastrophic black hole in our nation's finances, which surely will make things worse over time.

  13. Higgins booking last night means he'll be suspended when we play Rangers at the end of the month. Dowie and Lyle are one booking away from suspension too. Jacobs and Kidd are nowhere near suspension having already served a one game ban.

  19. What do you mean then if you're saying he was "forced" to play youngsters? How many was he forced to play at any given time? How many "older heads" was he allowed to buy a season? If his remit was solely to get the club on sound financial footing why was he allowed to bring in, for example, Tam McManus, David Weatherston and Sean Higgins? Do you think a different manager would have meant Sibbald/Alston/Kingsley/Wallace/McGrandles would a) not have been in the first team and b) wouldn't have developed to the same extent if we had a different manager instead of Pressley?

  20. Martyn, I've got numbers for quite a few ex players through programme features, let me know if you want any. Boring stat attack coming up on the worst second tier performances since the introduction of the four division set up in 1994/95. 1st place goes to the shite Clydebank side of 1999/00. 1 win and 7 draws, 17 goals for and 82 against. A grand total of 10 points. Next up is the abysmal Dumbarton side of 1995/96. 3 wins and 2 draws, 23 goals for and 94 conceded. Finished with 11 points. A year later came the pish poor East Fife of 1996/97. 2 wins and 8 draws, 28 goals scored and 92 against for a final tally of 14 points. The awful Arbroath of 2002/03 managed 3 wins and 6 draws, scoring 27 goals and conceding 77. Finished on 15 points. Alloa were 20 points above them but relegated on goal difference as Ross County scraped to survival. Rank Raith of 2004/05 managed 3 wins and 7 draws to finish on 16 points. Scored 26 and conceded 67. Stranraer have two entries in the hall of shame. Their hopeless 1994/95 team had 4 wins and 5 draws, 25 goals scored and 81 conceded on a final points tally of 17. The gash Stranraer class of 1998/99 equalled this record with 17 points collected from 5 wins and 2 draws. 29 goals were scored and 74 conceded. The brutal Brechin of 2005/06 had 2 wins and 11 draws for 17 points. 28 goals for and 74 against. So there were at least two sides worse than the Wasps of 2015/16, and with 8 games to play we could still climb a few places. We also need 3 goals to pass Clydebank's low of 17. Cmon the Wasps

  21. John Fashanu spent four of his teenage years working to get a job at his local smarties factory. After being rejected three times, Fashanu gave up his dream but the very same day he received his first professional contract, he was unexpectedly called and offered his dream job. Since he had given his word to sign his football contract - he turned the job down.

  28. Only things that matter forever are: a) What do the football authorities think? Answer: Same club. b) Are our finances secure? Answer: Our only debt is to our shareholders. We're projected to make a profit next season. c) Are we winning on the park? Answer: Yep...and with style too. Who cares what others believe? We're well and truly back

  30. Also monkey if you were so against repetitive , childish drivel you would have pulled shull , doink etc up along time ago , the reality is you are more than happy for such posts to continue as long as it is anti rangers in stance , all I have done is turn shulls type of post on its head and given it a pro rangers stance and clearly irks and irritates you , so give the outrage stance a rest and just admit you are a hypocrite

  31. Give it a rest fb. You're coming across as something of a simpleton. My contributions on this have been to suggest that while there's been a continuation, it's not been seamless. Your contributions have been repetitive, childish drivel, that apparently betrays a sense of somehow being above the tedious shit you do so much to sustain. Honestly, you're behaving like some tiresome kid that needs taken home.

  38. Wrong. The facts are that it is against UEFA rules for a club to alter their structure in the case of an insolvency event, and has been since the introduction of the financial fair play rules. See the Timişoara case for confirmation.
