  1. I agree, 20 is about our 'natural' level because we're a strong footballing country with decent infrastructure. But put it this way - being a few places short is much less of an aberration than being 10 places high, as we were just a few short years ago. And at that exact time, people were still saying Scottish football was a laughing stock, it was dying etc. They always do, regardless of what's actually happening. It's for this reason that I don't worry too much about our ranking - it's going to ebb and flow, but the average Scottish pundit is going to be slamming our game regardless, while crowds remain pretty consistent.

  18. I don't buy the argument English teams in the EL don't have a budget or squad capable of competing in Europe and the league. Other clubs across Europe seem to know how to manage the squad ok, it's just an excuse for them.

  29. They were though. In fact do you even have to go to the games to support a club? Financially you would I suppose but if someone flees to America to live is he no longer considered a supporter?

  32. This is actually a really good idea, obviously something like this would be ideal at the start of the season, missed that chance now I'm thinking, maybe not though. But if the opportunity arose for this, the either of the 2 home games in March I'd say; St. Mirren and Hibs. For a few reasons, it's about now that families are thinking about Xmas etc, and everyone knows that doesn't come cheap, regardless of who you are you're always skint in January and February is normally the recover month, thus getting to March and they are 2 fairly big games IMO, with people then having money to spend and also, on record March is normally pretty good weather wise (obviously not taps aff type weather but it's dry). I don't know. Obviously if there's an appetite for it on here, surely there's a way you can propose ideas to the club to try and potentially organise something like this...

  33. It's a difficult one this topic Rovers vs. Flyers. For me personally, I use to go to the Flyers a lot, if not every Saturday almost every other Saturday when I was younger and then when I was older, to the football. There was a few years I'd do both. But now I just go to the Rovers, I'll maybe go to the Flyers once a season now, if that, I don't think I went last year at all. The flyers crowd is more than ours and is pretty consistent. Ideally, if the Flyers & Rovers struck up a deal for games then that would be good. Say, if you go to 3 Flyers games, you get into Starks Park for £10 or something (arbitrary figure, free, whatever). Obviously if we keep producing on the park, and the above happened, then our attendances will rise. The 1400/1500 core that's there just now are all loving it. More people, and then more people enjoying it, word of mouth and so on so forth. It won't be long before attendances increased that way. But because it was rotten the last 2 year, it'll take more than a month of good football to fix this. I think this is 100% an 18month job at least, this season we finish well, people saying they enjoy the football, next season we'll have a good crack at the playoffs, and people will be interested to see what we've got to offer. The random punter hearing from other people saying we've got a good chance this season etc. This core that I've spoke of I feel has a responsibility also to let people know how good we are this season and we do have a chance of the playoffs, to try and encourage people back. Anyway, Morton on Saturday - lets pump these minks!!

  35. I alway find it quite strange when Rovers fans are completely dismissive of the Flyers. As a fan of both, I understand the hockey isn't for everyone. However there is no getting away from the fact it is the number 1 sport in Kirkcaldy at the minute and will probably be for the foreseeable future. A core home support of 2000+ for a team that plays a home game nearly every week is remarkable for a team that was in no mans land 5 years ago.

  36. I think of the board introduced a pay what you want match, we would hardly see a difference, it's that bad. It is disappointing as the players do deserve to have the south stand packed with the way we have started, particularly at home. But as others have said, times have changed and although football is bigger than it's ever been, the exposure to basically any game on the planet on your tele at home means Hardly any one is bothered about going to actual games down Links street. I'm not sure what else the board can do. Kids in free with a payable adult may boost the crowd for that particular match, but probably wouldn't encourage a return on the back of one single match, however the Rovers played. I listen to Kingdom FM most days as I commute, and although the Rovers were advertised last season, this season has been non existent. I've only ever heard adverts for the Pars and that Ice hockey mob. This season has been a breath of fresh air so far, some matches, as my dad would say was a bit like the emporer's new clothes (Stenhousemuir most notably) but other than that it has been enjoyable going back to the football again this season. Last season there wasn't a sense of connection between the players and fans, but it's totally different this season. Guys like Toshney and Benedictus have definitely added to that, and even a return to form for Cuthbert has led many fans warming to him as well. Obviously the manager has played a big part as well in rebuilding the relationship between the club and the fans. His interviews never really sound the same, and the way he speaks about the club with nothing being held back is good, honesty goes a long way. He also knows and reacts to situations when we aren't playing well. Classic example was Matthews for McCord at half time on Saturday. Came out and admitted that McCord wasn't up to the standard, and that's why he made the change. That would have been the change I would have made at half time as well, and I wouldn't have been the only one in the stand thinking the same either. Our run at home won't last forever, but if we actually manage to win more than we lose at Starks this season then that's a good thing to work towards. Consistency is definitely the magic word.

  37. I see that after Palace beating Watford today that Rovers are now the only team in the English and Scottish football leagues not to have conceded a home league goal. All credit to Ray, the coaching staff and team for the fantastic start. I'm actually looking forward to going to see us each week now which is stark contrast to the past 3 years.

  40. Oh dear. The Rangers fans didnt say f**k em you complete moron. It was the Rangers fans who actually went to Dunfermline and handed over a cheque for £80,000!!! This was part of the money raised by the support to heelp our club out!! Dunfermline later demanded the same £80 ,000 from the newco for these tickets.
