  1. Fling enough darts and I'll usually have some joy, had enough festivals in the past where I was taking 1 per race and losing the entire time but I know the way I play it with multiple picks isn't for everyone but a pretty good week for me ending up just over £400 up. My cash bets placed during the week weren't great overall, it was returns from free bets and antepost were where the profit was made. A couple of horses finishing 1 place better and the picture would have been a lot rosier too though . 3 seconds today for example that I had backed on the nose with the two Minella's and Cobblers Dream would have made a big difference to the week had they won (not including Fil D'Or as Vaubans win was better for me than him winning) but definitely getting into the being greedy level there. Fair to say returns wouldn't have been anything like the one @#Gary mentioned above though, that's a complete gutter.
  2. Antepost bets for today are pretty much all in the Triumph Vauban and Pied Piper both backed at double figures (16's for Vauban and 12's for Pied Piper) as well as Porticello @ 25's as well although went off him a bit. Minella Indo doubled with Pied Piper in a special is the other one I've got 1.30 - Given current position I'll likely put Skybet offer onto Il Etait Temps or Fil D'or. 2.10 - I Like To Move It / My Mate Mozzie / Tax for Max 2.50- Minella Cocooner / Bardenstown Lad (e/w). I'll also likely fling the Ladbrokes £1 free bet on a 50's or bigger shot here given the race's history for decent priced winners - Green Book or Idas Boy likely to be the pick for that. 3.30- Tempted to put a small bet on Royal Pagaille given Venetia's form but he'd prefer worse ground so will make a late price based play. If PP doesn't win the Triumph I'll likely take Minella Indo 4.10- Bob & Co. Then an e/w effort to be decided closer to the time but possibly Mighty Stowaway since Codd is on board. 4.50- Vienna Court (e/w). Not a race I particularly like though. If Elimay was to drift to somewhere near 3's then I'd consider her but don't see that price being available. 5.30- Chemical Energy / Cobblers Dream
  3. Put the bet on Monday when the field hadn't been declared so was still antepost rules (but with NRNB concession). It was a complete muck up on my part because I thought it was 3 places and it had been cut to 2 by time I put bet on as it was pretty obvious that it was going to end up a really small field once L'Homme Presse headed to the Brown Advisory. Such a bad bet to have made but there was no cash out option on it once I realised my mistake - only noticed it when I went to back another of the rags at that point. Still to look at the handicaps but will post them up shortly.
  4. An astoundingly good ride by Danny Mullins. Between that and the exceptional stroke of luck in the first race with GDC falling meaning I got both Bob as a winner and that horrific Busselton e/w returning money I'm in a good position ahead of the final day. Going to be sensible and cash out a few accounts tonight so that even without a single return tomorrow I will be left up for the week and anything tomorrow is an added bonus. My other bets today were pretty poor tbh, even adding Mister Coffey in for the last race didn't get me anything but after FP can't say I really care too much. Looking forward to tomorrow.
  5. Antepost wise today I've only got 3: Dame de Compeigne in the Pertemps Flooring Porter to land 2 doubles in the Stayers A stupid e/w on Busselton in the Turners that has no chance. Random selections to be made from: 1.30 - Just using Skybets offer and will take whichever of Gallopin and Bob are the biggest price. 2.10- Dunboyne / Tullybeg 2.50 - Fanion D'Estruval e/w (or Shan Blue if he drifts a litle more) 3.30- Paisley Park / Song for Someone 4.10 - Adrimel / Imperial Alcazar 4.50 - Party Central / Impervious 5.30 - Mister Fogpatches / Come On Teddy / Elegant Escape
  6. Was half expecting Jack to take a bit of a pull on Delta Work on the run in when it looked clear that Tiger would win the race if he didn't. Davy looked gutted that he didn't get the win and after the drift to 10/3 I had a wee nibble on him so wasn't too happy either bit more so for the horse than myself. Shishkin was a bit of a disaster for me today as he let down 3 doubles, and Bravemansgame getting withdrawn and killing the price for L'Homme Presse wasn't ideal either, although can't blame Nicholls given the farce the ground conditions ended up. Only returns were Funambule Sivola (e/w without Shishkin or Enurgemene), Ashdale Bob (e/w) and a quite frankly stupid free £1 bet from Ladbrokes on Commander of Fleet at 66/1. Slightly down for the Festival but still in the acceptable loss side of things. Hopefully things pick up the next two days.
  7. Small profit yesterday due to Corach Rambler winning and an unexpected Skybet boost on Honeysuckle but still not sure how Gaelic Warrior blew his race which would have made it a much better day. Will probably take the Sir Gerhard / Shiskin double and then a selections from the following shortlisted horses: 1.30 - Three Stripe Life / I Am Maximus 2.10 - L'Homme Presse /Ahoy Senor / Dusart 2.50 - Unexpected Party / The Shunter / Ashdale Bob / The Bosses Oscar 3.30 - Funambule Sivola (each way or without Shiskin) 4.10 - Prengarde / Shady Operator / Potters Corner (although if Tiger drifts then I could see me backing him instead) 4.50 - Sky Pirate / Embittered / Elixir de Nutz 5.30 - Redemption Day / Houlonbatordechais Smaller amount of antepost ones to follow today with the best chance one being Shiskin / Facile Vega.
  8. Far too excited for an hours time. Big day in terms of my antepost bets as I seem to have loads that live or die today. I'll do my usual for the Festival and be backing more than 1 horse per race. At the moment I'm looking at the following Supreme - Jonbon (Skybet Offer) / Mighty Potter (888 who are free bet back for top 4) Arkle - Haut en Couleurs (Betfair- free bet all losers) and I'll add either Edwardstone or Couer Sublime but would want 3/1 to be taking Edwardstone and he's just under that the now. Ultima - Antepost bets on Kiltealy Briggs, Vintage Clouds and Rapper. Will add another one from a shortlist of Frodon, Corach Rambler & Grumpy Charley. Champion Hurdle - Have Honeysuckle in antepost doubles, and also a silly one on Tommy's Oscar, so I will just play the without fave market but not decided who yet. Mares Hurdle- Race I've paid least attention to for today to be honest. Probably just go each way on either Martello Sky or Indefatigable unless something jumps out when looking at it closer to the off. Boodles - All over Gaelic Warrior at a bit bigger than his current price which is ridiculously short so be playing each way only in this one. Likely take two from Champion Green, Bell Ex One, Iberique Du Seuil & Doctor Churchill NH Chase- If GW wins the Boodles I'll be wanting Run Wild Fred to oblige here for some good antepost doubles. Already on Braeside antepost as well when it looked like Codd would be on him so any bets in this race would just be trying to cover position, or if GW doesn't win I'll be starting afresh. Good luck to all.
  9. Champion Chase an absolute disaster for me. Antepost bets dead everywhere and took Sceau Royal as an each way bet. PTKO is one gutsy mare though.
  10. Put on a favs treble on Bob Ollinger, Chacun Pour Soi and Easysland this morning. Didn't bother adding Monkfish in given his current price. Already have Bravemansgame well covered in the Ballymore so won't be upset with him winning but Bob did concern me so fired into that treble. I'll cover a couple of the next oin the market (Bear Ghylls and Keskonrisk) with the PP freebet and the Skybet offer too. Monkfish is already in some antepost multis so will look at the without market there and make decision close to the off. Similar tactics in the Champion Chase where CPS is already well covered. X-Country will need to see how my day is going. Coral Cup will be a throw a dart at the paper job but I've backed 2 for the Grand Annual. Entoucas win bet and On The Slopes each way. For the Bumper I've got the front 2 in the market covered antepost already so need to see how they are going and then consider any cover positions .
  11. If my cashout offer had been about 10% higher I'd have been tempted to just take it as it was off a freebet and would have been close to 50% of return as I had similar fears of another Annie incident . Probably didn't help that I already had Roksana covered antepost who I thought was her main danger. Decided to add Dame de Compeigne as a late safety net given her Coral Cup win last year but ignored Black Tears who was 2nd in that same race. Knew what was going to happen after the last hurdle was cleared.
  12. Think Concertista would have burst a ton of lines, plenty would have been on the muggy acca of Appreciate It, Shiskin, Honeysuckle and her (yep, I was one of them. The mares race seems to love bursting those!). Today was relatively OK for me but will take me a while to get over ditching Vintage Clouds for The Wolf. Monkfish & Chacun could have a big impact on my chances of a profitable festival and Bravemansgame would be a definite bonus for some antepost multiples. Based on what we've seen so far Monkfish should absolutely hose up, Chacun does have to answer the Cheltenham question so I'll have a play elsewhere for cover I'd imagine, likely PTKO or Nube Negra. Still to look into the handicaps, X-Country & Bumper properly. Skybet going money back all losers again in the first tomorrow.. I thought they'd revert to form and only do that for 2nd or 3rd but not going to complain.
  13. Counting down the days impatiently for this. Hopefully coronavirus doesn't scupper it as one of my favourite weeks of the year. Big blow to the antepost bets last week when Champagne Classic was ruled out of the festival as I had him in plenty bets. including a double with Column of Fire in the Martin Pipe at a big price. Most important horse I have left is Allmankind in the Triumph who is involved in quite a few multiples with only others featuring in more than one are Asterion Forlonge (Supreme) / Hazel Hill (Foxhunters) / Cepage (Festival Plate) & Copperhead (RSA) but plenty others in one off appearances. Not really got any anteposts that have dropped dramatically in price this year. Best on that front is either Ferny Hollow in the Bumper (25's now 8's) or Ramses de Teillee in Albert Bartlett (33s into 12s) but truth be told I'm a bit cold on the chances for both at the moment.
  14. Had seconditis yesterday with 4/6 bets finishing there. Today's starter doesn't look easy to find the winner. Expecting A P O'Brien to have a few winners later on so have taken So Wonderful to get him off to a flyer.
  15. His mount in the 5.00 has collapsed as well. 12/1 earlier on when my mate backed it, now at 4's going by Sporting Life (think it's Skybet prices they quote)
