  1. Fair points @WattersIsGod and very true mate. Totally agree that the Thommo/Carrick partnership wasn't working at this level, however it was never really addressed when Thommo went sadly.
  2. Yip, here we are indeed. I have to be honest and say that a few months back, I didn't think this would be the case but we are where we are. The last 3 or 4 months of the season have been awful, I just want it finished now and I hope that Darren Young has plans in place that will help kick us on, and obviously I hope that's as a League 1 club. I really don't know why he changed it. Our squad is balanced enough to have kept it and was geared around that formation and it obviously worked so well for us last season. The big problem for us this season is the lack of goals, I think that's partly down to the fact that Dale Carrick hasn't had a Robert Thomson to work off and has been fed scraps. I don't think Spence has it for this level anymore (neither does Hilson) but that would be my front 2 going into this match, and on his day, Spenny is a right handful for Defenders and the League table doesn't lie, Edinburgh don't have Defenders for this level. I've kind of said it all over the past few weeks, so lets hope we can achieve the task. I'll not be heading along, refuse to pay the money to watch football in that stadium, but will be glued to the X updates and keeping my fingers crossed we bag the 3 points.
  3. Looking forward to getting along to the Falkirk Stadium on Friday and cheering on Steins.
  4. Fantastic season for Danny and everyone associated with the club. Over the moon for them all after all the hard work that's been put in over the years.
  5. Well if the rumours are to be believed, then he'll be a St.Johnstone player next season anyway. Guessing none of us can see him being effective at that level?
  6. It’s all been said in the comments above. When he first came in, he looked a right handful and my instant reaction was that we must do our best to keep him longer, I even posted in here that we should be looking to build next seasons team, in an attacking sense, around him and Carrick. He looked like the kind of player that’s a class above what you would normally expect of someone who is Part Time these days and I thought once he got up to speed, he probably wouldn’t look out of place in the Falkirk squad. At the time, a Queens Park fan posted on here that he is good at cutting in and shooting but once Defenders suss that out, he becomes ineffective…..and I would say this is what has happened during his time with us. He’s targeted for fouls and is often doubled up on. If he was to stay, I do think he’d be a positive addition to the squad, but he over plays ALOT. Some times he gets away with it, other times he loses the ball. I would prefer it if he would move the ball quicker personally. There was an example of that yesterday when he held onto the ball for too long, Dale Carrick stopped his run and when the ball was finally played it was subsequently too far for him to knock it in. The positive side to his game is that, he looks to be, something of a game changer. He has the skill and ability to play higher up and his mazy runs and ball in the box can be top drawer. In a team that dominates the game, you’d fancy him to be one of their top players, for a team fighting, he becomes frustrating, especially when he can’t get the shots away.
  7. Poor game with very little quality, however had it not been for Stone, a game we probably could have won. QOS problems have been well documented, but once again our big problem, was clearly evident….we just can’t score and the strikers have to work off very very little. Carrick ran his heart out, forcing errors and being a pest, Hilson did the same when he came on…to good effect, and Spence battled away, but hoofs up the park are all they have to work with. As even as the game was, on another day, we could have surprisingly won the game. Offord was denied with an excellent save in the First Half then again with a shot in the Second where he managed to scramble it away. Big things were predicted of Stone, people were even tipping him for Scotland honours in the future, and I thought he looked the part again today. I think we looked more comfortable in our 4-4-2 formation, but I am worried, we have no creativity and even the simple things seem to break down or just not happen, and despite Pabs & Jojo doing well in defence, we still look shaky at times. Queens came with a game plan of not to lose and they executed it. They’re poor but they stifle the game and we don’t have the ability in our squad to deal with that…..we couldn’t even get a corner to beat the first man. So, 2 weeks left and 2 more tough games to go….i’m not backing us to do anything, I’m not even sure we’ll even score, so hopefully others do us a favour elsewhere.
  8. No problem with parking if you keep in mind that there are hundred of spaces behind the trees of the away stand. Do not park anywhere that’s not a space, or you’ll likely get a ticket.
  9. As a former SSP member and someone that got to know Colin very very well during this time, he's exactly the kind of guy that Scottish politics needs and someone who speaks well, debates well and is very knowledgeable in the goings ons. However the SSP are truly a basket case of a party with so many faults. They're good at campaigning streets and standing united with workers on picket lines etc etc but actually do nothing....when this is questioned, all you get is "but we're a small party that needs to grow first"......how you grow without actually standing for elections is beyond me. How long does a party need to stand still before it grows? So yes, Colin (and Richie Venton) are excellent politicians, whether you agree with their political stance or not, but you'll probably never get the chance to vote for them and in some way that's a pity because they do have a lot to offer.
  10. Welcome @Moorie, and hope you enjoy the day. Our hospitality really is amongst the best (in my experience) so you've made a good choice. To answer your questions: Pubs near the ground, you only have the Springkerse View ( The Springkerse View Pub Restaurant in Stirling (greeneking.co.uk) ) which is in walking distance. You have the cricket club also, but I've not been there for a few years now and I'm not sure what time it open etc etc. If you want a pint before hand, then head to the Springkerse View or stay in the City Centre would be my advice. Getting to the ground, the bus station is right next door to the train station, get the park and ride shuttle bus and it'll take you straight to Forthbank/Stirling Village. Buses are every 5-10 minutes and are cheap. You'll see the stadium when you get off the bus, and the Springskerse View is in the same estate, but maybe about 5 mins from the bus stop. With your Dad having a stick, you can't walk that. It's a long straight road but it'll be too far for him mate, get the bus or grab a taxi from the train station. Get in touch if there's anything else.
  11. Am I right in assuming that Cameron McKinlay will have to wait until next season to make his debut, as the transfer window is now closed?
  12. Cameron McKinley signs from Stirling University. Never seen him play, but 27 goals in 64 appearances in the Lowland League is a good return, so fingers crossed he can step up and do well.
  13. ......or are they just objecting everything to try and make the SNP look bad in the year of a General Election that they're party looks set to lose?
  14. My DHGate top arrived last night. £14 and you wouldn't know it.
