  1. I've still got a 1990 British Supercup at Knockhill t-shirt i sometimes wear. In my teenage years in the 80's every second birthday i would get a Scotland strip, never threw them out, the 82 one is a bit tight but the rest still fit me. The one stroke of genius thing i've ever done in life.
  2. Have stayed up there, wasn't to bad, it was better than staying in Dumfries. May 11th, think i'm going away for a wee-day out that day. Last night, when Star went 2-0 up they had a spell in charge where i though they were going to get 3 or 4, but hats off to Vale, second half they totally bossed the game, looked sharper and more hungrier to win. The big no 4 never missed a header or tackle all night. Totally deserved win and Star can have no complaints. Re fixtures , May 4th, Star Wars Day, Star to play Challenge Cup semi if they beat Gretna tomorrow, May 11th Creetown to play in a Final, May 18th play-off games start. thankless task being fixture secretary, best of luck to them. As for the Jade Palace, when you drive past it looks like the old days of covid lockdown.
  3. Yes Star have improved and toughened up since those games. Wasn't at Craigmark but the Carluke game was was a game to forget. Whether it is The Star or Creetown who win the league i wouldn't expect them to win a play off/s for the LL. I feel the SOSFL is on a hiding to nothing in the play offs, If they get beaten it will be the usual neigh sayers of, they didn't want promoted any way or how the hell is that league at tier 6, yawn! Be absolutely fantastic if they did South West derbies against GretnaFC2008 and possibly Stranraer await. On to a lighter note cup final at KBT with a 4pm KO, will there be room for another at 1 or 7pm? The Bus timetables have been checked!
  4. I'm sorry, forgot to use multi quote, i do apologize
  5. Do the floodlights on these council facilities still cut out at 10pm ? Certainly a different idea. Maybe a cup final Saturday, If 4 different teams get to 2 different cup finals maybe play them same day, same ground, a 2 and 5 o clock kick off? Beer tent, big telly, ample catering what could go wrong? But not Palmy, they don't have a team in the league, yet!, or the NWCC, no spectator facilities, still not found a toilet yet in half a dozen attempts. Would help ease fixture congestion also.
  6. Last time Star were in the SOSFL i'm sure they played a cup final at Nithsdale on a Friday night, and a game at Dalbeattie on the Saturday And now the fixtures are even more congested, Creetown v Star, tomorrow postponed
  7. Looked like 5 at the back. To be honest it looked like get the lead and defend at all cost, try and save themselves for Saturday. Reminded me a bit of a game of rugby, get the ball at the back and launch up front or kick for touch. Actually thought if the pitch and conditions were better Star would have nicked a second. The game was probably symptomatic of the league this time of year. Star have 6 games in 12 days, 3 tough league games, 2 tough semi finals and a cup game against an at present Lowland League team. Very much the case of horses for courses, grind out results, use the squad, prioritise games, keep everybody fit and suspension free. Doesn't always make for great football. Heavy pitches this year isn't helping, did notice 2 or 3 cramping up last night.
  8. Dalbeattie looked like a few were rested/missing from there strongest eleven. Saturday back at Creetown in a league match will be a far more important and meaningful match, well it is in the minds of the supporters. 120 mins on a cold wet night on a heavy pitch is probably the last thing they wanted. Creetown dominated the 2nd half and should have been out of sight. No 8 is Lewis Dunn
  9. 1993 Tournament. Stranraer 3 Gretna 0, QOS 2 Albion 2 - Albion won on penalties, 3/4 QOS 3 Gretna 2, Final Stranraer 3 Albion 2. Wonder if Stranraer still have the Trophy?
  10. Had a tidy up at the weekend and found the programmes for these games, googled for info and found this thread, from my memory: The 1992 tournament, Stranraer/Gretna was on Thursday 23rd, QOS/PNE was Friday 24th, there was a last minute goal in that one possibly a QOS winner and the 3/4 and final were on Saturday 25th. 1993, sure it was QOS 1 Albion Rovers 1, Albion won on penalties. Andy Cook scored for QOS and Tommy Bryce played for Albion and scored in the penalty shoot out, he re-signed for QOS a couple of weeks later
  11. Thank you. 4 league games to complete, no problem, just a lot of cup games to play
  12. What dates are the play-offs scheduled for?
  13. Way back in time, Annan used to play in the Carlisle league, must have joined the South League late 70's. More leagues than Threave Rovers!
  14. Saints v Workington, that would be a good day out in a boat! Abbey Vale v Silloth, only 15 miles as the crow flies, closer than most of there matches.
  15. Creetown v Star, the fixtures were made up and released at the start of the season, Star's last league game was actually against Mid Annandale which was brought forward, so they have tried. Wasn't at the Lochar/Star final, roughly 800 there on a Friday night speaks volumes. The public have spoken! Quick couple of questions from me, out of interest any excess gate money from these finals where does it go? Assume host club, officials and other incurred expenses are paid. I'm not suggesting any impropriety only curious. When did Creetown change the pitch name from Cassencarie to Castle Cary? I have been watching the Lowland League for the last 10 years so its been years since i played or watched a game there.
