  1. That's a really harsh take on our performance. We didn't create too many clear cut chances but had plenty of the ball and got into some nice areas, in what is the most difficult fixture in the league. Not sure what you were expecting.
  2. Did anyone else notice McAllister having a couple of late digs on Middleton in the first half when the ball went out for a goal kick? It was almost as if he was trying to lay a marker on the winger and intimidate him a bit. Not long after that Middleton seemed to have a word with the ref (when they had a corner). I didn't see the red card incident but I'm guessing McAllister has not been entirely innocent. Thought we were really good value for a point until the sending off and even after it we still gave a decent account.
  3. I wouldn't pull the plug on bullen just yet. The team still look like they're playing for him - and there's always going to be ups and downs in this league. We have to do everything we can to avoid relegation but I wouldn't be too itchy with the trigger finger. If things don't turn around by January then I'd be looking to bring in a fresh voice. What's the deal with the keeper btw? And is there any clear word on musonda?
  4. Chalmers didn't have a kick today, and was very much off the pace, so it wasn't that surprising. Thought we looked like the better team until caley scored, and then we shat the bed. Billy McKay ripping mccallister a new one changed the game - but arguably we were fucked as soon as stanger went off. We never really laid a glove on them in the second half. 3-1 probably a fair result in the end. At least Inverness is a cracking wee city and I've had a lovely night.
  5. Aye I want to see the big guy get a pay day. Dismantling Joyce has surely earned him that. Would he defeat AJ?
  6. Surely this season it is? Relegation would be pretty brutal considering the investment. Sometimes you have to take a small step back to go forward.
  7. Bit of humble pie lads? By f**k did we need that result (although I certainly didn't see it coming). Maybe it'll spark a wee unbeaten run that can build some confidence. This season has to be about picking up enough points to stay in the league. With the new stand and the other off-field improvements, hopefully we'll see some steady growth after that.
  8. I really can't see it - that was just too one-sided. Looks like Eubank took him too lightly in January and got himself sorted this time. Smith wasn't in the fight at any stage. Outclassed, and I don't know if a third fight would sell.
  9. Airdrie weren't negative today. In the first half they had a couple of nice passive moves but they obviously wanted United to press, and Goodwin didn't want play that way. As a result, their best strategy was to stay in the game until the last 15 minutes and then throw everything at it. They looked like they had an equaliser and they were clearly going for it - hence the keeper being at the half way line.
  10. I would just like to pop in and say I had a btts coupon with this on it - which I obviously gave up on (I checked it with a couple of minutes left). So well done everyone, that's taken the edge off my team's shite start to the season.
  11. Bucky you win the internet for me with that post. Superb. Things look bleak at the moment but things can turn around quickly in this league. FWIW I don't think Bullen will be let go as he seems to fit in with 'the project'. Whether that's right or not, time will tell. I think he deserves a bit of time after a strong season with an average squad last year. If we can somehow sort the centre of midfield things might improve quickly - as we've got some good attacking options (especially when Murphy returns). But it's fucking tough right now, so I'm switching off from Ayr and heading out.
  12. Bit of shit game from United, as others have said - very poor in the 2nd half. Airdrie didn't create much but that clearance off the line was so close. I thought the tiny fella in midfield did well for Airdrie - looks like a player for the future (when he fills out). I'm just amazed that Goodwin doesn't try and go all out at home this season. Surely going baws oot no-one would cope - and maybe tighten up at the back. Letting Airdrie have the ball and trying to hold on and hit on the break seems a strange tactic to get the fans on side.
  13. McKenzie was one of our better players today, I felt. I don't want him starting every week but he's a very useful squad player. Can't disagree with Bullen's interview - other than Frankie being iffy in midfield (but he's probably got to praise him playing out of position when we're so short in there). One good centre mid and we'll be there are there-abouts.
  14. I'm not so sure Pendlebury has much to offer - based on today. My biggest concern is the middle of the park - although the lack of an effective striker is also worrying. Rose didn't have much service or support today but he didn't do anything to impress. We've got plenty of options in wide positions and the defence seems pretty solid (the full backs are not as bad as folk on here make out). I like that Bullen tried Musonda sitting in front of the back 2 but it didn't really work. He wants too much time on the ball and all-too-often his instinct is to play backwards - leading to a punt and inevitably losing possession. McGeady was outstanding until he sold the jerseys with the error that ended the game, and Chalmers looked as good as ever when he came on. That's where our hopes are - but overall not a great performance.
