  1. That's a bit harsh, I think. Stornoway and Kirkwall (mentioned in the previous post) are both working ports, rather than tourist-oriented like Portree. I suppose the kind of industrial character makes the waterfronts seem a wee bit bleak, but they're far from dismal. Stornoway's got some cracking places to eat (HS1 and An Lanntair, particularly), a good mix of shops (unlike Portree) and Lews Castle grounds (home to the excellent HebCelt festival). It is lacking in good pubs though.
  2. The Panther's Palace? I don't remember that place at all. And nae Sands? Shocking.
  3. "Pointless scam" is spot-on. I'm self-employed so had to pay for it myself. Sitting in a classroom as some droning clown tries desperately to drag 7 hours out of a module that had absolutely no relevance to what I do for a living. Still, at least I got to show my shiny new card to VOSA.
  4. A brilliant read. Ridiculously unhinged. As is the sequel "This Book Is Full Of Spiders".I don't think the film had a theatrical release over here. At most, there were maybe showings at festivals. Which was a shame. You can get it on Region 1 blu-ray through Amazon. I don't know when it'll be released over here. ETA. I've just had a look on Amazon. It's being released on 17th Feb. That's brightened up a Monday morning.
  5. Cheers, HJ. I shall mount an expedition forthwith. Are the natives peaceable? I shall require their services as bearers and suchlike.
  6. Cheers. Is the loch still there? I live quite close to Easter Road but I've never noticed Lochend Park.
  7. "Sassij" is a fine insult. I'll have to use it more often.
  8. "Was hoping for a feel good rampage film" Contender for quote of the year.
  9. Is the Kennedy assassination an actual part of the plot? I'd just assumed it was the publicity campaign jumping on the anniversary bandwagon.
  10. <round of applause> That's made up for having to get oot o bed at stupid o'clock on a Sunday morning.
  11. Pacific Rim. Big robots fight big monsters with big chunks of ham and cheese flying all over the place. Entertaining enough but disappointing for a Del Toro movie. 5/10
