  1. Jack Ross was the main reason behind the success we had at that time. I have heard this from a few of the ex players and I can’t say I am surprised.
  2. Aitken managed to piss away money on the wages of utter dross . Anyone with half a brain knew Nade was done, Beany was finished some years back and Stewart (well Raith fans told us so). Not confident that Aitken will use his budget wisely tbh. I would rather just pay at the gate than spend £250 . His style of football reminds me of the Paul Martin era and I canny go that again. Fair play to those shelling out for a season ticket but it's not for me
  3. Players I would keep: Gallacher (Keeper- had my doubts early on but he is decent), McLaughlin, Dowie, Barr, Hutton. Would like to keep Wardrop but he will get better offers. Handling will be on a high wage and is a luxury player. Squad really needs totally gutted and I am not confident Aitken can do that. Too negative a manager for me but I hope he proves me wrong. Won't be renewing season ticket as it ain't worth the money.
  4. Well done to Alloa. They were the only team that wanted to win it. Aitken has to go as his tactics are woeful. Player recruitment woeful too. Nade was done even last season. Stewart and Russell - well need I say anymore. Aitken's luck has run out and we need a guy in with fresh ideas and willing to play a more positive style of football. This season has been brutal to watch
  5. Totally respect its early days but during the games I have seen him he has too many weaknesses for me to be a goalkeeper in the Championship. I hope I am proved wrong 100%. Grindlay did have a weakness for high balls but he did have a confidence about him. It's a miracle Gallagher kept a clean sh
  6. Do you still think Gallagher in goals is decent? Seriously the guy can't catch a cold never mind a cross. No point in being a good shot stopper if you flap at every high and crossed ball. It took me 30 minutes at the Clyde game to work that out so god knows why Aitken signed him
  7. I have only made the Clyde game thus far and although we lost to a lower league team which is embarrassing there were some positives. However our new keeper worries me a lot. He has bomb scare written all over him.
  8. Aye West Dunbartonshire Council sure have messed up the provision for school football. Yes the Vale and Clydebank High have decent facilities but the biggest school in WDC St Peter the Apostle (and arguably the most successful) doesn't have a 3G pitch big enough for competitive football and their grass pitch has no floodlights! They have to share with Clydebank High. I see the council is wasting £300,000 on improving the changing facilities at the current OLSP site. The pitch there is awful and surely with the new pitch being built up in Bellsmyre - what's the point in the old OLSP pitch. Money is being wasted as it should have been used to rip up the St Peter the Apostle hockey pitch (which has never ever seen a game of hockey on it) and replace with 3G.
  9. Background to the incident. Docherty stuck the head in Carswell. Dunfermline players seen it, I seen it as did many sons fans. Sure there needs to be an investigation but we need to have standards and zero tolerance of assault in the workplace.
  10. I see some Sons fans are trying to sugar coat this incident. Guys it was s clear headbut by Docherty on Carswell. The fact Docherty knew about Carswell's nose makes it even worse. It wasn't dealt with well on the day (wasn't dealt with at all). It is a difficult moment for the DFC management but the outcome should be swift. If it were my decision (based on what I witnessed) Docherty would be gone by Monday afternoon.
  11. If I was the manager Sparky would be finished at DFC. I haven't seen anything like it and it could really have a bad impact on the rest of the team. Obviously there needs to be an investigation etc.
  12. Mostly negatives from yesterday's performance but some positives. I will start with the positives. Big Thomson up front put in a decent shift we just need someone feeding off him as he holds the ball up well at times. The kid from Celtic looks decent so too does our new keeper. Negatives: our full backs are a major weak link especially as our centre halfs are slower than a week in jail. Pettigrew is rank, gives the ball away constantly and I don't think he knows what to do (I think there are a few in this category mind you). The kid from Aberdeen looked like a rabbit caught in headlights yesterday. Why do we still not have a defensive midfielder? I know Barr will probably play there but we need more than one. Every single Sons fan can see that Stevenson isn't suited for that role (or Fleming)- he needs to be higher up the pitch. Not convinced with Smith, reminds me of Chris Hamilton- bit of a headless chicken. He has great pace but crossing is hit or miss and defensively he is all over the place. If I had my way I would punt a few players: Brown (2 year contract is a joke), Doherty (lack of pace, decision making is poor), Gallagher (not good enough for this level). Pettigrew is another one who ain't up to it for this level of football. I would have kept Taggart. We look ok going forward but maybe Stevie has forgotten to do defensive drills of any kind!
  13. A new keeper is welcomed but we must be punting Brown, I know I would. He has not been nearly good enough, shakey and lacks confidence. Hopefully the boy from Aberdeen has some pace as our back 4 is woefully slow. If we are starting Buchannan and Wright at CB we need reasonably quick full backs to provide cover. Still need a defensive centre mid for me as Darren Barr will not stay fit for a full season and we will need cover. We need a balanced squad so fingers crossed we can get 2 or 3 more in this week.
  14. I did not attend the game today but Any talk of sacking the manager is foolish at this stage. There are some worrying signs and these can't be dressed up like' we always do poorly in cups'. We are leaking goals 10 in 3 competitive games. Our squad needs at least 3 or 4 more players. I might change mind about sacking Stevie if he plays Gary Fleming as a holding midfielder again.
  15. I know it's early days but we look horrific. Don't know where to start but we will be lucky not to finish bottom at this rate.
