  1. Fair play to Edinburgh - the league table doesn't lie, but I don't think they've been as bad as their points tally suggests and a tough season giving the kids experience might set them up okay for L2 if they stay afloat. Poor result for us, and makes the path to 4th place a lot more awkward. We badly need Alloa to win the Saturday Telefios game IMO regardless of what happens to us at LP.
  2. 6-1, and only a few good saves from the keeper and some wasteful finishing stopped that being double figures. Hard to judge against a poor team, but Buckie ping the ball about nicely and wouldn't be a mismatch against the chickenf***er and his band of mercenaries. I'd make Buckie slight favourites now unless Brechin go utterly berserk tomorrow night.
  3. Nipped up to this - only 3-1 Buckie HT, not sure how as they are the better side by a mile. Could be ugly second half if Strathspey tire out.
  4. Absolute belter of a gig this evening - was a bit apprehensive about being in the upper seats but if anything the acoustics up there are better, and not many of us were sitting down. Two great set lists and a rave on the balcony, perfect Thursday night oot.
  5. Went along to this and Dumb and Dumber for the world of Cine double feature. Hadn't seen either for quite a few years - both are still quite funny and hold up okay. That said, Naked Gun does show its age more of the two, and D&D probably had the more gutteral audience laughter at that screening. Noticed they are doing an action season for the rest of the month, too. Commando already booked!
  6. This is largely why predicting what will happen in the next five games is a bit futile. But given the fixtures, I'd take a final day win-or-bust for 4th right now.
  7. Didnt expect much beforehand, but we've effectively deducted ourselves a point with this porridge of a showing tonight.
  8. Immaculate - Sydney Sweeney as a nun, which will probably lure in some of the posters on 'that' thread over in general nonsense right now. It's a fairly generic dark-quiet-dark-quiet-THUMP horror for about an hour, but her performance is really good, and the final 20 minutes are deliciously nasty. Late Night With The Devil - now THIS is my kind of unsettling slow burner horror film. David Dalmaschithingimabob playing as a slick 70's American TV show on 31st October (tick) as a piece of found footage (tick) with a young female guest who does exorcismy things (tick). Sounds counter intuitive, but if you ignore it as a horror film and watch it with a straight bat a'la Alan Partridge Does Halloween, then it's great fun, and the visuals/set/etc are really good. Suitably bonkers final act, too. Won't be everyone's cuppa, but I loved it.
  9. Very slack today, and fairly relieved to nick a point from that. Hope Balfour makes a good recovery, sickener for the kid. Can just sense there will be a lot of plot twists and edgy afternoons before QOS at home.
  10. Coped with Megginson and Burrell fairly easily yesterday if that's any clue. Very fine player IMO, lot of intellegence with his positioning/tackling and we were a more vulnerable side when he was out. Possibly a bit raw for the Prem though TBH I don't watch much of it.
  11. It wasn't all that long ago we were playing in front of 200 odd at best against the wee Rovers and the Shire while we were jobbing the bottom of L2, although TBF many of the 'ultras' who sing about shite home supports were still dropping shite in nappies at that point. We're slap bang in the middle of the recession and any number dedicated enough to spend ever increasing costs on an away day just now should be respected (especially teams in the soup who hardly ever win). Trying not to have a dig, but I do feel Cove are one of those clubs more heavily reliant on a smaller circle of influence so more vulnerable to doing an Edinburgh if and when any backers pull out/get bored etc. Struggling to see their mid-term planning or at all, and the manager is still in the job through nepotism over ability. (Would also qualify most of the above by saying most L1/L2 clubs are in a similar financial bind just now, including ourselves. I genuinely don't think anyone is totally safe right now.)
  12. Another big win and a very composed performance, massive credit. Cove were absolute toilet for an hour and only got a bit of a look in at 0-3 when we were snuffing the game out. All their main attacking threats were well dealt with, I thought Luke Graham was excellent today at doing the dirty work while Hester is finding form and goals at just the right time. Always dangerous being optimistic, but much more positive about a top 4 shot just now.
