  1. Think the Keeper error has really taken away the focus from IM having a terrible evening. Maybe he was arrogant or over confident with his team selection or simply trying to please too many decent quality players. I personally felt he over rotated his teams during these 3games. The substitutions were a shambles on Friday and I would love to know the reasoning for the changes made during the game as tactically they were not what we needed. On the whole its been an outstanding season and we had our fair share of luck go our way at times to help paper over the cracks and similarly I felt we were unlucky during the 3 defeats on the bounce at the start of the year, but Friday seemed different to previous poor results, every aspect of our weaknesses were highlighted (Not taken enough of our chances when on top to get a 3rd goal to kill the game, not being able to defend a lead and rash multiple changes of throwing players on for the sake of it without an obvious clear plan or structure) Really need Morton to help us out on Tues to allow us to really promote the derby on Saturday and boost enthusiasm. Looking at the results recently you'd think nobody wants to win this league, it may be a long time until we get a better chance so lets make Utd win it rather than handing it to them if we cant win it ourselves. Please can someone tell IM to stop this chat of mathematically possible for guaranteed top 4. I don't mind not winning the League - but can we just not throw it away, Pick a strong 11, identify a few likely changes/replacements and let them play - we don't need to make 5subs every game and if some players are unhappy so be it, its up to them to take their chance when they get it. If it wasn't for the importance of the run in I'd love to see us play 4-3-3 with Rudden/Hamilton/Vaughan as the 3 and Byrne/Stanton/Mathews (assuming brown is CH) but there is a time to experiment and its not now but at 2-2 away to Arbroath it probably would have made more sense than the changes he made.
  2. A retro 1994 cup final top would be great with coco-cola main sponsor!
  3. Players not staying to leave for more money or a longer contract is hardly surprising. Our problem is we have stopped giving two year deals. Really cant blame baird, have to ask why we didnt offer him a two year deal or 18months when he first signed. For me next year the difference/gulf between top div and championship will be minimal even more so if hibs come down. other than Celtic,Aberdeen, Utd & Motherwell all other teams are bog standard in that league, There is plenty opertunity for a player like cardle or others to show case skills in this div. If we only offer out 1year deals will will struggle again next summer, players that prove themselves need to be offered 2year deals to aviod a massive clearout year on year while others get offered 1year.
  4. I'd be happy with a left back thats solid at defending. We will spend more time defending than attacking in most of the games. Similarly I hope we have a more soild midf this season. Attacking winger type players that cant/wont defend are not what we need in a harder div.
  5. No link as it was a verbal conversation from a board member. End of last week the money had still not been passed into the "FA pot" which would then be split 20% to hibs and 50/50 share of the remainder after costs between the two finalist teams.
  6. No ticket money from rangers sale of ramsdens tickets yet. They should be punished for this
  7. I don't think many fans will miss out, if you are not a regular or season ticket or associate fan group member (raith trust, supporters club or 200 and so on) surely this covers most people, the small group that are left can hardly complain as they are the least committed supporters. A club like raith cannot afford to turn away any kind of supporter but this game is a one-off I doubt we will ever play in a sell out game with such a low allocation of tickets that I doubt this will ever be a problem in the future. I'm more than happy that on a big game we can attracted twice/three times out average attendance, that's what makes a big game big it also shows we have a potential fan base to tap into in the future!
  8. The owner of the ground has almost paid off what he borrowed to buy the stadium, he is now in line to start making a profit. In theory, he can sell it for as much or as little as he likes. So If the club were to make an offer with terms that should he not accept we have alternative plans to play else where (not that we would actually want this) he would be silly not to accept as the ground without a club is worth very little.
  9. Still, paying rent at 5k a month is a massive amount of money that could be used on players. And rent that the owner does nothing on the maintenance of the stadium, that cost the club extra. I don't think it would cost a lot to buy the ground. I don't think any one would want to ground share but the owner needs to understand there is the potential of other options or he can basically charge as much rent as he wants. IMO Starks park as much as I love the place, is not that much better than bayview! Also can anyone help explain the process of cup money? On ticket sales, if rovers played rangers with 40-50k fans then would we get around 150k-250k? What other income/costs are involved?
  10. If we are lucky/good enough to get to a final against Rangers then I would like to see us use the money to buy/fix starks park. The match experience is terrible due to no atmosphere even in big games its poor. Id like to see us fix the railway stand. Our problem is that we dont own starks park and are paying rent. The owner of the staduim has (or almost) made his money back through rent. I dont think there is a que of people wanting to rent or buy starks park, with morrisons down the road and housing not selling I cant see who would want to buy it. It would be great to offer to buy it back for a small fee, 20k or something and tell the owner if he declines we will ground share (east fife) and he will be left with an empty worthless staduim. I love my team and love playing at starks park but more than ever now I think its a poor place to watch football. Paying rent is a massive problem for the club, around 5k a month is a lot of money that can be invested in the team.
  11. I like Hill, although he had a poor season he still always looks likely to score. Some of his bookings and reds i felt were down to a really weak midf in front of the defence, resulting in hill getting dragged forward and making more challenges and lunging desperatly as often he was trying to win takles others in the team (midf) were not doing. As cheap part time players (squad players) he is as good as it gets at this level for the money - better than taking a gamble on an unknown player with no conection or history with the club - another poor season and id let him go tho. Everyone is differnet tho, I'd like to see Murray & Ellis play a little more, and wasnt impressed by Hammil or Malone last season. for me our midf has been a weak point in the team for 3/4 years and its exciting to see some new faces there. im not bothered about mensing if we can get someone solid in there then the defence will be solid with thomson, and donaldson then you have Hill, Ellis and murray all very able to play the other CB spot and all able to cover at FB too.
  12. Not sure what his record was like, but thought he could be ok in the first division with a good assistant (P smith)
  13. not many suggestions for managers and best suggestions seem to be inexperienced, after that any decent suggestions seem to be under contract id much rather somone with experience colin cameron paul hartley craig brewster paul sheerin
