Lets All Laugh At Rangers Thread
Dungolfin replied to Demented Zebra's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
New Rangers, hanging on in there, playoff dream very much alive. -
Having read what's on offer I am fairly relaxed about the outcome of the SFL vote. There is no way on God's green earth that anyone with half a brain could endorse these proposals. There is nothing here that could be remotely described as increasing the lot of any clubs in the SFL and furthermore there's big red warning stickers all over it with their insistence that none of this is binding. In fact I'd go so far as to say that should SEVCO be admitted to the 1st division then half the proposals will be thrown out at the first opportunity. This is less like the dangling carrot we were anticipating and more like a bit of poo on a stick with the powers that be hoping that if they wave it about fast enough we'll think it's chocolate.

I think through the whole process they've shown that they can't negotiate worth a sh*t. From the start of the whole fiasco dealing with SPL clubs, chairmen, the media, fans and the SFL clubs they've had the sum total of f*ck all go their way. In fact every single proposal they've tried to push through has ended up in the bin. These are the people who 'run' Scottish football and SKY must laugh at them every time they leave the room. They simply don't believe in the product they're trying to sell and in fact talk it down at every opportunity. I can only imagine how pathetic they must be when they're begging SKY to please show our sh*t league on their wonderful channels in between the tiddlywinks and snooker.

Looks like Davie Irons agrees, this on the BBC... David Irons quits as Stenhousemuir manager Stenhousemuir have announced that manager David Irons has resigned due to "personal issues". The 50-year-old took over at Ochilview Park 18 months ago, having had spells in charge at Gretna and Morton. He steered the Second Division club away from relegation and took them to a fifth-place finish last season, their highest standing in 12 years. Irons made Scottish Cup history when he turned out for Threave Rovers at the age of 49 in November 2010. The former Ayr United, Partick Thistle, Dunfermline and St Johnstone midfielder made the switch to Stenny a month later but was not tempted to get his playing boots back on. The club say they will issue a statement soon.

I have suspected for some time that once Sevco are back in the SPL it'll be business as usual and the SPL will be pulling up the ladder behind them. The current situation represents a once in a generation opportunity to redress the balance in Scottish football and if the SFL board settle for anything less than fair distribution of finance, voting rights and a guarantee of league reconstruction then they are fools. I'm not holding my breath though, when it's all blown over I'd expect the same financial arguments against an expanded league to be made again and if it hasn't happened in the next 2 seasons it'll get kicked into touch.
