  1. You Rage you Lose: Part 2680

    23 April 2012 - 17:27

Samantha Brick will shit herself when she sees this:

All of a sudden Rebecca Black seems quite good. My favourite bit is when she goes "the funny thing is, I didn't go to that party". *awkward silence*.

BTW I didn't put this in the music forum, it clearly isn't music.
  2. Equal Pay

Wisconsin Equal Pay Law Repealed Because “Money Is More Important For Men”

    Quote

As Jessica Pieklo reported yesterday, the Governor of Wisconsin, with little notice or discussion, repealed the state’s Equal Pay law. For Scott Walker, it was no doubt the most logical step in his ongoing war on women and the working class, as the Equal Pay Law protected not just women but any protected class.

But for the Republican who was most enthusiastic about rescinding the law, it was really about fairness. After all, according to him, money is more “important” for men.

Over at the Daily Beast, Michelle Goldberg writes a detailed account of the repeal and the effect it will have in the state. Goldberg also interviews Republican state senator Glenn Grothman, who was an enthusiastic fan of repealing the law. According to Grothman, not only is there no actual pay gap between the sexes, if there was one it wouldn’t matter anyway. After all, men need money more than women do, since they have families to support. “You could argue that money is more important for men,” he told Goldberg. “I think a guy in their first job, maybe because they expect to be a breadwinner someday, may be a little more money-conscious. To attribute everything to a so-called bias in the workplace is just not true.”

    What the f**k?

  3. Another school shooting...

    03 April 2012 - 19:49

By the by, a load more people died in America in another school shooting, 7 dead this time:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk...canada-17601347

I found it interesting that it didn't get mentioned on here at all, even in pub form, and I got to wondering why this was...

So why? Is it because there have been so many shootings that nobody gives a damn any more? I mean, lets face it, the American education system is pretty brutal, and its very much "kill or cure" so to speak. Is it because the USA as a nation deserves it, with their ridiculous gun laws and refusal to apply common fucking sense? Is it because the culprit wasn't a muslim terrorist? Are we only interested in tragedy that conforms to our expectations? So what are the thoughts on this? Who decides whether a tragedy is newsworthy and interesting?

And on that note, how much tragedy is needed? I mean its only 7 people, and they weren't even all white. Is that tragic, or does it qualify for jokes? The Muamba incident, how come that had to be spoken about in hushed tones, whereas other incidents wouldn't even be mentioned? What is the formula needed for a "good" tragedy? Can we come up with a set of rules for determining the best reaction to a tragedy?
  4. A question to celtic fans

    01 April 2012 - 16:41

Can anyone tell me what the song that Celtic were playing over the PA today just as the teams were about to kick off in the second half? It was like a slow sort of ballad thingy. Whatever it is, I really like it, and not knowing the name has been bugging the hell out of me for weeks now! The answer would be much appreciated! :D
  5. Car Tax

    11 March 2012 - 13:51

Okay, so the situation is, I'm off to look at a new car. The problem there is that if I like it, I will buy it. Now, it already has MOT, and I'll be able to pop it on my insurance in a few minutes...but I don't know if it is taxed. I can't even pop down to the local post office and pick up some tax, as although it will be insured, I won't have the document to hand...so how do I get out that one if it has no tax? I'll need to take the car away that day too...
