  1. Cheerio for now

Just wanted to say a fond farewell to all in the 2nd Division and wish you all well in the coming season.

It's been the best year I have ever experienced as a Cowden supporter and lots of good memories to take away into the big league. Hope we do ok and glad Dumbarton came up to keep us company. Feel we have shown that a small club can achieve a lot when they have people with passion running them, a great management team, a good bunch of players who give their all for one another and a wee group of supporters who would run through brick Walls for the team they support.

I have lots of respect for every club we have faced this season and it was great to see Albion staying up. A bit of a pity that we didn't get on too well with Arbroath but nobody from either club will worry too much about that in the years ahead ;-)

We now have the rare challenge of facing other Fife teams who can actually beat us which is a shame but we will give them a better test this time I'm sure.

Best wishes anyhow to all in Division 2. Hope that ourselves and Dumbarton can show that the gulf between Division 1 and 2 isn't so big anymore? Great to go up anyway as we all want to play at the highest possible level.

    See you guys later.
  2. The Champions Thread

    19 May 2012 - 22:51

Before we bow out of the 2nd Division I wanted to start a thread for the Cowden fans to share their feelings and memories of a truly historic season for our club.

Watching Hearts and Chelsea lift their trophies today brought back just how fantastic it feels to succeed at your own level.

Winning the 2nd Division this year was equal to winning the Champions league for me as a long time Cowden supporter. I have frozen my baws aff in decades gone by watching us lose to Montrose on a rainy night and wondering why I put myself through it. This season has made it all worthwhile and this is what makes supporting a lower league team so fantastic. You may have to wait for a long time but if you live long enough memories which will stay with you forever come along.

The day I keep thinking about for some reason is the home game against Brechin when we played fairly badly for most of the match but managed to score a winner with one of the last kicks of the ball. I also think back to the storm swept game away to Stenny when Jordan Morton played a blinder and we put them to the sword. The win against Forfar when we won the league was the most special day for me. We didn't lift the cup that day but I have never felt that level of pride and emotion at the end of any game. The bond between the players and the fans and the pure joy we all felt will never be beaten.

The greatest season in my lifetime for sure. Best of luck to all of the teams in the 2nd and 3rd Divisions next year. I'm sure that we will be back but not for a little while I hope.
  3. Can Cowden stay up in the 1st Division?

    06 May 2012 - 22:21

I would love to hear the opinions of all of the 2nd Division supporters on this.

Think everyone feels that we were worthy winners of the 2nd Division but this is a massive step up for us again. It is certainly a big ask for any part-time team to remain in the 1st Division. I feel that we have the bones of a good squad for next season but we have to strengthen if we are to have any chance of
    Staying up.

We have a good defence but we need more quality in midfield and up front. We are losing Robertson and Colin Cameron cant play for much longer. Stewart is a quality player but we need more striking options. I love mad Coult but we saw yesterday that the guy is probably a 2nd Division player. I fear that McKenzie may move on which would be a real blow.

If we can keep our management team then we have a chance. We are lucky to have Donald Findlay who has fantastic people around him to move the club on. I'm looking forward to going up and hope that we can compete with the bigger clubs. It will be tough but I'm sure most of the teams we have played would love to face the challenge we face on the pitch for season 2012/2013.
  4. Hiya 1st Division, Hiya pals.

    21 April 2012 - 18:29

Well here we come again folks. Looks like Fife are going to be well represented in the 1st next season. You might even have four of us up there FFS.

Last season at Central Park for Cowden so come along and enjoy the unique experience :-).
  5. Former players you would want back

    12 March 2012 - 00:08

Are there any former players who are still currently playing that you would welcome back into your team?

I mean realistic targets here or semi- realistic ones at least. I would love to have Morgaro Gomis back for example but he is now well beyond our reach.

I would love to see Jordan Morton back in a Cowden strip next season, either on loan or on a permanent deal if we go up. The boy has real talent but may have to take a step back before moving on to bigger things in the future.

Pat Clarke is also a player who did extremely well at Cowden and who could possibly be looking for a new club next season. Possibly again beyond our reach now though.

A few years back I would have loved to have had Armand One back but it seems that he is on the decline after being released by Alloa and he wouldn't fit into our approach now anyway, especially due to his massive girth.

Toorie Winter had two good spells at Cowden as did Raymond Allan so are ther any players who supporters feel could still come back and do a good job for their club?
