Arthur lost on points. Never looked like winning. Cook was faster, used better angles and generally had tactics. Arthur looked like he'd struggled to make the weight and as such, in the latter half of the fight when he should have taken control, he had nothing to offer. He almost seemed resigned to the outcome after about the eighth round. Hopefully he'll now decide to move up to Lightweight as he can't continue at Super-Feather.

If you could combine Arthur's work ethic with Harrison's natural talent Scotland could have had a great World Champion

Good article in EastSideBoxing.com on Khan.

Khan signed a 20 bout deal with Sky Box Office, for the record, the first of which was last night. They might end up regretting that decision!

Khan took a right belting last night, but just imagine the state he'd have been in if that right hander when he was on his way down had connected...

Do you have a link to that? A 20 bout deal? :o

I don't think that would be strictly the case but I bet ITV Sport Exec's are pissing themselves at the moment!

I think the 20 is in relation the SKY (Sports and Box Office) doing 20 events a year

Khan signs for SKY link

SKY are not dumb and I suspect Khan's next bout will be on SKY Sports as they'll know that not many people will pay for a PPV fight with him

I love the way everyone seems to be so pleased that he's been beaten. Anyone would think he visited each of your homes and demanded you didnt eat during ramadan. What did he do to be so disliked by everyone? Was there a meeting about it that I missed?

Edited to add, if Khan had won, this thread would have been full of people commenting about him fighting nobodies and not taking on real opponents, so there was no way he was ever going to get anything other than abuse on here.

I don't mind praise where it's due but he'd done nothing and was bummed up as box office <_< , I've seen pretty much all his fights and i have to say this has been coming.

Yip, totally agree

The most amazing thing about this thread is that those of us who can see how limited and overhyped Khan is have not been labelled as Racists yet

Spot on especially the last couple. He did himself no good either with the increased cockiness. being arrogant works when you have the talent to back it up but Khan simply didnt. If you are getting knocked down by the likes of Limond than a more humble approach is to be encouraged.

Ah, my mistake. I saw it in The Sun, so I should have suspected it wasn't quite as it seemed!

Frank Warren had a shit night. He'd invested a lot of time and money in Khan, there's no way he can be a PPV fighter now and it's doubtful that he'll reach world level. Also, he put a lot of money into building up Alex Arthur, who was poor against Nicky Cook. Finally, his hope at gaining a shot at one of the heavyweight titles is tied up with Audley Harrison who did another astounding job at setting a world laziness record.

The thing I'd do if I were him is build Khan back with a couple of easy blow-outs, get Arthur to move up to lightweight and then match them both next year in an eliminator or a British/European title fight.

A complete pasting. Too used to fighting Super Featherweights, first natural lightweight that can punch and it's 'Goodnight Gladys'.

Why is it in boxing, it seems to be that 1 defeat means your career is basically over?

This is a genuine question (and not a pro-Khan rant) as i have read about quite a few fighters that have gone 20 and more fights undefeated, lose 1 fight and are seemingly flung on the scrapheap.

Is it to do with the calibre of opponents?

Depends on the calibre of opponents and the manner of defeat. Frank Warren obviously had no idea the standard of fighter that Khan was about to face and was as much caught out as his protoge was. Make no bones about it, this was a heavy defeat for Khan. One he may never recover from.

However, Breidis Prescott is a name we may well hear about in the coming years, going by the quality of his finishing and obvious punching capability. Going on last nights showing, he's catapulted himself right into the top 10.

If it's somebody who has been found out and not good enough for the top level then they won't get a title shot. If it's a decent boxer then with the way boxing politics are anybody with a title or a chance of getting a title fight then they won't risk losing it, certainly not before they've made a right few quid fighting easier opponents.

The Khan camp have done very well to get the money from him they have to date. Much like Fraudley's 1 million contract with the Beeb.

That's the cash cow finished though. A couple of years scrabbling about European and British level then retirement by the looks of it.
