Ricky Burns is now officially a two weight world champion, Marquez has officially moved up a weight and the WBO have upgraded Burns to full champion status.

Has Scotland had any other two weight world champions?

the wtsarbc have recently acknowledged me as world super middleweight champion and before the xmas splurge i was their undisputed world middleweight champion.

ricky burns is not a real lightweight world champion, he's fought one fight at lightweight against a guy who had lost his previous two world title fights. how does that make you world champion?

It's all down to the mess made by the various governing bodies regarding 'world' titles, iterim titles, diamond titles etc. The WBO recognise him as their champion now, rightly or wrongly. The Katsidis fight was a step up in weight and class for Burns and I was happy to see him get the result.

Ideally i'd like to see Ricky fight 3 or 4 times this year, hopefully against higher quality opposition than when he defended the Super Feather belt.

I've never heard of the wtsarbc before, i'm sure they are a fine organisation, i however am ranked No 2 by the WBA and now only need to defeat the inerim, regular and finally super champion to establish myself as No 1 in the Division. I'm confident I'd knock out Brian Magee and Karoly Balzsay for the first two belts, i fear i'd be on the wrong end of a points decision travelling to California to fight Andre Ward.

Paul Weir won world titles at strawweight and light-flyweight. But TSAR is right about world titles.

Maidana v Alexander at welterweight next month, should be an interesting fight. It's in St Louis. I hadn't realised Maidana had also jumped up to welter, thought he was seeking out another fight with Morales for the WBC title.

Money Vs Cotto 5th May. Horrid.
You will retire me, but Iniesta will retire us both.

really?

other than pacquiao cotto's the fighter i'd most like to see mayweather fight. ortiz's aggresive style was causing mayweather problems, i think cotto could as well.

i haven't seen a weight anywhere hopefully it's at 154, it definitely needs to be higher than 147.

Yeah it is at 154. I didn't mean the fight was horrid. Just sorely disappointed that the fight everyone wanted to see didn't happen. I think all boxing fans should refuse to buy Mayweather and Pacquaio's fights until they get it on.

Cotto was awesome in extracting his revenge against Margarito.

Legendary trainer Angelo Dundee died this morning at the age of 90 thought to be from a heart attack. Trained some of the best ever in Sugar Ray Leonard, Jimmy ellis, George foreman, and of course "The Greatest" of them all, Muhammed Ali. 15 World Champions in total - incredible record. Seemed like a decent guy too, and must have lived some life. A true legend of the sport.

Fury has vacated both domestic titles. Personal thought he has bottled it from price.

Aye, read that earlier, claiming he wants to step-up to World title level, although I agree with you, think he's just ducking Price.

Speaking of domestic figters in title fights, going to the Lee McAllisterEuropean title fight here in Aberdeen on the 25th of February, really looking forward to it, was going with 3 mates, but one of them has to go offshore, so got a ticket for sale if any of you gents would be interested? Give me a shout if you are and I can give you the details.

Manny Pacquiao looks like he'll be fighting unbeaten Tim Bradley next, could be a really good match-up and ill be interesting to see both how Pacquiao comes in after a couple of so-so / disappointing performances against Mosley and Marquez, and if Bradley will stick with his usual 'lead with the head' style against some one as fast and powerful as Pacquiao. Can see why Bradley binned the Khan fight now too if he got wind that a massive pay day with the Pac Man was on the cards.

According to reports Hennesy offered Price £100k to fight under his promotion, on five. Maloney knocked it back, stating the fight would attract more through purse bids, & the Fury camp walked away from the fight/titles.

And after 12 fights how can,he be ranked 7th in the world. He'll get sparkled soon enough hopefully.

So if he offered him x amount why, didnt they let it go to purse bids and make more money doesnt make any sense.

Price to fight Sam Sexton for both titles (British & Commonwealth).

Amir Khan has confirmed his rematch against Lamont Peterson will take place on 19 May in Las Vegas.

Mayweather v Cotto

This looks a really tight fight. Who knows where Mayweather's mind is just now with him going to prison.
I've always backed Floyd but the 4/1 for Cotto looks a good bet.

Khan v Peterson

Although it was really close last time i think Khan will train like mad for this fight and claim back his title. Peterson is a good fighter no doubt but he got lucky last time and i think he will get beat this time. Look out for a third matchup between them if that happens.

Tyson Fury ducked out the fight with David Price as going for world titles is no excuse for vacating titles. He won't get much further in his career anyway.

I think Peterson beats Khan again in this one, I don't think Khan can cope with come forward pressure fighters. I think it'll go the distance again and a Peterson UD on this one.

Froch apparently is being installed as the mandatory for Bute, should make this fight easier to happen.

Kevin Mitchell just had a decent workout over 10 rounds. Box Nation going over the top about him facing Ricky Burns at Upton Park in the Summer.

Given that its warren tv they will go over the top with him. Burns should leave warren promotions and get back on skysports. Mainly as I decided against paying for boxnation. If he does fight Mitchell why would he want to give him the home support. Suppose he'll have no choice as Warren will decide.
