Annan 4 - 0 Abbey Vale
To be fair in the first half we couldn`t live with them the two wide boys Scooby and ? were getting a lot of joy Bell and Adamson up front were really sharp and Dungallison and Jo Cranston were knocking the ball around well.
Second half we were a different team and matched them only losing a late penalty.
If that was a similar team to the one beaten by the Crichton last week then a lot of credit must go to the Crichton (not sure it would have been as Annan had a league cup game the night before that game) but anyway Annan looking a serious contender this season.

Stranraer res 6 Creetown 0
Creetown did ok in the 1st half and were unlucky to go in 2 down at half time. Lost a goal just a couple of mins just before ht. Held at 2 0 for good part of 2nd half then a couple of mistakes gave them a couple more goals. Stranraer had 4 1st team players playin and a lot of good experienced south player. heads went down by the younger ones after the 4th but dont think we cant be to hard on them as they are only learning and will get better. Our older players have been fantastic since the start of the season the likes of big Housti, Tam McCulloch,Sanny Davidson,Barry Smith,Big Shadow all deserve a bit of praise as do all the young ones!

Hilarious!
Think Crichton used up a whole season's good luck in that game. 2 attacks in 1st 10 mins, 2 goals. 3-0 up at half time. Have to admit they were pretty organised, at the back and fast up front, caused us problems. 3-0 at half time, Threave just didnae get going.
Cue the half time shennanigans from Crichton, 1 of the management team caught, hiding behind the Threave dressing room door trying to listen to the team talk!
2nd half, different story, Crichton seemed to ease a bit, and let Threave back in, got 2 goals back, their keeper made a few good saves, Beattie hit the post, Crichton got a bit lucky, then crept up the park and got a fourth. Wullie Beattie pulled one back from the spot, then it was over. Think the Crichton maybe just deserved the win for their 1st half performance, but a draw would have a better result

Wigtown deserved their beating.
Correct - you can't ever lose 5-1 without deserving it. The score tonight has been perceived as a shock by many and I guess thats somewhat down to the fact that Wigtown have been splashing the cash about and doing away with many of the younger players they had last year. I still expect Wigtown to have a much improved season (perhaps still better than us) but I think folk have been overestimating their credentials on here and maybe underestimating us on the basis of a run of defeats (albeit mainly by narrow margins against almost guaranteed top half outfits!).
We didn't go into the game tonight expecting to win but we knew we could win. From what I heard though Wigtown thought they were simply going to run all over the top of us tonight and prepare for Saturday's game against Threave . Because of that it gave us particular pleasure that into our third year in charge we have yet to lose to our local rivals in a league fixture. Despite the pattern of us coming out in top in these game Wigtown still continue to make comments suggesting they are far superior to us. As long as this continues we will try and find extra inspiration when these game come about. I thought our team played very well tonight. Wigtown could have scored more than 1 goal but didn't deserve to take anything out of the game IMO.

Re the half time incident. I can't comment on what Jim Thomson was doing although he did look closer to the referee's room rather than the Threave dressing room. But it seemed to me that it was Buff that kicked things off by coming out of the ref's room and shouting "what the f**k you listening to?!" before pushing Jim into wall. Then all hell broke loose! Impressive half time entertainment for the neutral!

Hopefully that will be three and John Osborne becomes a reserve player. Maybe be taught how to play football in this league.
