Abbey Vale are away to Burntisland Shipyard on sat in the SFA challenge cup and was wondering if anyone knows much about them. Think they play in an amateur league in fife and no sure what sort of standard theyl be. Think they beat Wigtown last year in scottish cup, anyone got any sort of info on them??

Our under 19's beat them in the Fife Cup 5-0 last year, and 3-0 this year. They're a good side, with a tricky right winger.

Your manager Speedy should know all about them. he scouted them for Annan 3 or 4 seasons ago and came back saying they were a pub team. We ended up on the wrong side of a bad result that day.

If Speedys watched them personally this time then god help ya. :D

I dont think they're the team they've been in past years but it'll be a good test & hopefully a good day out for us lot.

Some of our EOS teams are in action in this cup as well this weekend. Leith play Edinburgh city (I would think City will win this comfortablly) and Vale of leithen are at glasgow university. I dont know anything about glasgow they are an amateur like the shipyard but Id put money on vale.

What interests me is the game between Nithsdale Wanderers and Selkirk. Are nithsdale a good team and who will be favourites in this tie? Selkirk finished second bottom of the EOS premier last year but did win one of the larger cups. Do nithsdale fans expect to win the game, or to lose it?

I like this tournament especially when team from different leagues meet. Nearly all the EOS clubs are entering in the next round so hopefully will be lots of exciting games to watch in 5 weeks time.

Burntisland Shipyard have brought in a lot of new players this season from other amateur teams and a couple from the juniors. They play in the Kingdom League and have a good set up and are well run. If they play a guy at the back named Campbell I would advise your players not to get too close as the guy is an animal.

We played them since then at Burntisland, they will be a well organised side with the possibility of different players playing on the day of the cup match, they have strengthened in this manner in the past. This will be a hard game for the Vale, hope you do well.

shippy 6 abbeyvale 2
shippy dominated the first half going in 3 nil at half time and playing good football, second half shippy better team for 10 mins then abbeyvale came right into it and for the next 20 mins were the better team as we were all over the shop, game went 4-2 then we got a penalty and then number 6,good game to watch from shippy point of few and got to say thanks to the abbeyvale physio for treating our boy that got injured(he has a broken shoulder joint).dont know if abbeyvale treated us a bit lightly today but we also scored goals today that we havent been doing in pre-season,thought the ref made a few dodgey calls today for both teams.
all the best for the rest of the season ,enjoyed the banter with the abbeyvale team, committe.heard the manager resigned after the game as well.

Well done to Burntisland on sat, Abbey vale werent at the races in the first half + that cost us badly. Werent sure what standard they would be beforehand but they looked a good side + was impressed with the shippy left back in particular. The ref made derek stocks look like collina right enough + made some awful decisions. Dont think we treated them lightly at all, just unfortunate we put in our worst performance for ages in that game. At least everyone enjoyed a good sesh on the way back + had good day out. Good luck to Burntisland in the next round.

Remember it well - 2004 Scottish Qualifying Cup - Shippy won 4-2 - Abbey Vale were well beaten 6-2, with Shippy hitting the woodwork 4 times as well, so it could have been worse. Thanks go to the Abbey Vale physio who treated injured Shippy player who suffered a broken collar bone.
