So we won our first game?Unfortunately couldnt go to Kelso but a 3 nil win sounds like a good result.Anyone who was there care to elaborate on the game and how many were there?Reading so many anti Gretna posts recently im thinking this wont have done anything to endear us to the many Gretna bashers who im sure were just waiting for us to lose!!!

was a decent game to watch with 3 nil being a fair indication of the way the game flowed although kelso had one or two chances but failed to make them count. their no 7 stood out in particular but for all the wrong reasons unfortunately. he has a very large chip on his shoulder and an ego to match, shame he's not as good a player as he thinks
as for the gretna bashers not everyone thinks its the same set up as previous seasons however there are still one or two who think we are the same team but im sure as the season goes on we will finally be able to put the old club to rest and we will be seen for the club which we are, a brand new football club with absolutely no ties to the old club whatsoever.
decent turnout all things considered. somewhere in the region of 100 plus gretna fans which was a bit of a surprise to be honest.

Can anyone confirm who scored the other goal for Gretna, i know Daniel Carmichael got two but i'm getting different names from different places for who got the other?

Going by the first round of league games it looks like Gretna and Craigie are the teams to beat. With their young guns and the experience of Mark Birch i think it will be hard to see by Gretna.
Good luck to all involved.
Good luck to all involved.

Congratulations on the win GG and not everyone is keen to see the new reformed football of gretna fc fall flat on their faces...as the saying goes..
"Yesterday is history,Tomorrow is a Mystery and today is the present---which is why it's called a gift and to be enjoyed"
Actually i would have been quite happy to see the now defunct team given a good kick up the derrier and dumped uncerimoniously in the 3rd division rather than go bust...even with the regime that was fronting the post Mileson era as it was the fans( hoodwinked GH or genuine)that suffered .
Gretna's finest hour before "you know who" arrived was getting into the SFL and showing that league football was sustainable in the small community and environs of Gretna, and in a similar way it's been quite an achievment to get a team up and running in such a short space of time and in a competative league like the EOS.
Best wishes to the new football team in attempting to bring football back to Gretna.
ps..your chum solwaycoaster seems to have made himself at home with Annan Athletic

Greetings Mr roundabouts, long time no hear.Cheers for the good wishes,I saw Stan at Dalbeattie a few weeks ago when he said he was being neutral due to supporting Star in the past too!!!Lovely man but its disappointing hes gone to Annan, although he does live there and I can understand why.But my own view is we were all singing Gretna til we die last season and none of us thank god are dead so we should still support Gretna.Maybe the club dying and reforming confused him?!!!That said, hes a grand old guy with good banter and hes a miss.

Hi GG..
Kudo's to you and the other regulars of the old Gretna brigade..Chorley T and the legendery Gretna_ed for your part in resurrecting a football team to represent the community, and you never know, football may well return to Gretna;though I think it unlikely at Raydale due to the assumed/presummed/disputed asset that it became....and best leave it at that lest this becomes a 200+ thread :-)
I do keep an eye on the gretna.net site and often post on the word association...and often wonder how dear 'ol PADDOCK fills the huge void in his life now lol..I am surprised he has not migrated to the Annan board, though they are a well run club and no way will they let their club get hijacked by a false prophet after the demise of of GFC..
Regards

Paddock is occassionally found on his own teams site, whilst browsing the cufc mad I came accross a couple of his postings.Hes no where near as controversial on there as he was on Gretnamad, maybe hes mellowed. Its a shame Gretnamad went I know alot of people hated it due to some of the postings but I miss the banter, the new site is good but not too many of the old posters are registered.
