Is this not a poor start for this club in the east of scotland leage and is this not bad for kelso as well. why should they have to change when gretna cant use there own pitch. Bad for all partys.
Gretna have to sort them self out. There is a fixture list now but straight away they mess with it. If the cant be relieble and pull weight, do not play in EOS league.
No disrespect ment to gretna. But first EOS game. Not a good start.

If anything id say good of them to find a workable solution, many other clubs would have just postponed.
I'm looking forward to seeing gretna grow

Rab drove us a couple of times last season. Ask him if he's still got the photo's of the lassies in the fishnets from Abington
This will just be a one off. As we've only had the fixture list a couple of weeks it didn't give us much chance to book the facilities when required and we just got unlucky for the opening fixture. The remainder of the home games will be booked now

Hoping its a one off too,its not ideal when we re trying to show we re a team worth having in the league.Having said that the boys have looked good in the friendlies and hopefully all this negativity in regards to Gretna will die down.To be fair to the trust and everyone involved its brilliant we ve got a team to support, and switching the first game isnt too big a disaster considering some of the bad times we ve been through.Does anyone know wheres good to drink pre match for the first game?

Why is there such negativity about gretna? Obviously what has happened in the last year or so has tarnished our name but we are a new club now trying to start a fresh so why everytime something happens that shouldnt is there all this "gretna should never have been admitted to the league" and "we all hate gretna boo boo boo"
Give us a bloody chance to sort out things. We are trying to sort out Stadium issues and with the facilities being in annan at the minute things are difficult.

Quite right scotty, but its nothing we ve never experienced before.People should think about how theyd feel if they lost their club(as we nearly did).Fans of Gretna 2008 arent the glory hunters that got peoples backs up before we re fans that have stuck around and are relieved and delighted to still have a team at all.Cut us some slack guys!!!

Agree Thought the East made a sensible decision in supporting determined team in a difficult situation. I'm sure they will deliver - give them a chance!

Well as to hating Gretna, I don't. As I've said before, go back through my postings and you will find nothing remotely linked to hatred.
Anyway, you asked the question "Why is there such negativity about Gretna". I'm afraid it's something you've brought entirely upon your own heads. When you get pelters, you make the claim that "we are a new club with nothing to do with the old". Yet when you were trying to start off, loads of people said "drop the Gretna FC name" or you will forever be saddled as being connected to the old mob. By and large, you roundly gave two fingers to that logic, because you wanted to be connected to the old mob because you wanted to have a history and a heritage where you could say "three promotions in record time, Scottish Cup Final etc etc etc". Not only that you wanted to keep the old club's badge, colours and while you talk about "sorting a stadium in Gretna", it obviously alludes to the fact that you want the old mob's ground too. So y'see, you haven't made a particularly good effort at distancing yourselves from the old mob, because truth be told, you actually didn't really want to (in footballing terms). You tried to be selective in what you associated yourself with from the "good old days", and that doesn't work. Didn't someone say that you had actually "bought the Gretna FC name and crest from the administrator". What does that actually say about you truly being (and wanting to be) a completely different club? As I said, and it's there for anyone to check, I don't hate Gretna. But the fact that you now have folks happy to kick your arse at every opportunity is hardly surprising giving that your new club's proclamations of not wanting to be associated to the old club have been at best, half hearted, and at worst, common or garden lies accompanied by knowing little winks amongst the Gretna support. Result? You still get pelters. If you guys had really wanted to, you could have changed the name, you could have changed the crest, you could have changed the colours. But you didn't want to do it. You wanted the "heritage", but for now at least, that has cost you an element of respect. That might not be a long term thing, but for now, it's the price you are paying for making no real effort to distance yourself from what has gone before..........and it's not much of a price to pay, so rest easy. The only thing that is likely to stick is that for those who followed the story closely these past couple of years, is that the last couple of months have been a success in terms of finding a league to play in, but you still have integrity issues in that you tend to say one thing "we have no connections to the old club", and do another "do everything to look like the old club". You makes your choice, and you pay the price.
You guys want a chance to get on with it. The thing your head guys have completely missed, is that in order to do that, you guys needed to demonstrate that you were indeed "new". That is something you have abjectly failed to address, and I'd say it wasn't oversight, it has been a deliberate policy.

You are likely to see even more sniping in the non-league game if my experience of AFC Wimbledon is anything to go by. Petty jealousies will be in abundance as you work your way up with ambition.

No disagreeing with much of that. But the new trust committee at Gretna will be judged on what happens from now on rather than the Mileson regime. My continuing major gripe is that Ron McGreggor continues to be in the background for advice, when he was clearly associated with the previous regime.
I'd also liked to have seen a new name, badge and crest but I'm not suprised that the majority of fans voted for the old and want to retain a link to their heritage.
The flak will really start from all sides if lucozade Lenny or Rowan Alexander ever shows up at one of their games. (the ponytailed one never will of course!)
