just been reading about gretna joining the east of scotland league and it would appear its the most talked about topic on the section.
does anyone know why gretna were refused entry into the south?
was the decision taken by a vote of all the south clubs?
or did dick shaw the south secretary make the decision on his own?

I am reliably informed that an official application was made and understand there was no executive committee meeting as indicated in Secretary's response, therefore one man's decision!! Interesting considering his comments wearing his Annan Ath hat in the sunday papers a couple of weeks back

I would be suprised after all Gretna had a big part in his team getting league status.

I dont know who reliably informed you but their was an executive meeting according to the committee member that I spoke to as he was there. I dont know why so many people seem to have it in for Dick, the man has done the job that no one else would like and has done it to best of his ability. It appears that a certain amount of people are jealous of what he has done at Annan. Now that Annan are in the SFL he could just walk away from the league but knowing him I am sure that will not happen and as for Gretna not getting into the league then that was the correct decision because of where they were wanting to play. If the East league think that walking 400 metres from the changing rooms to a pitch is raising the standard of the league then good luck to them.

Well said if it wasn't for Mr Shaw the south would be on its knees he has put more work into that league than most so lets leave the man to continue doing a fine job for the south

i would suggest the work by alan irving has gone unnoticed a man that has been there for years and never or rarely gets any credit

I think you would struggle to find anybody with anything other that good things to say about Alan, the man is a gentleman. Anyone with any knowledge of the club knows just how much Alan does.
