Will any south league players flock to them?
Neil Scally - Hard b*****d! He'd kick your granny!

Goal of the Tournament P and B 5's 07 me v Airdrie All Star's in the semi finals - pick that one out!

You'd have backed him to go 50-50 with a JCB and come up with the ball

Why should they want to go to a team with no history, just because they have the name gretna in their name everybody seems to think that they are the same team but they are not. They talk about wanting to go back to their old ground when the council buy it but why should they ,the team that played there do not exist. Lets face it the council do not have spare cash floating about for things like this.,

why should the council buy it for them?then we have to pay for it in our council tax.the council wont even allow dressing rooms to be built at castle douglas on birkland rd and other parks in the stewartry league, they wont even open dressing rooms at schools because it costs to much ,so players have to change at side of road and in car parks,so if the council do buy it its a disgace

If the council have set aside 600,000 or 700,000 or 800,000 to blow on a money pit like Raydale in order to keep a couple of dozen punters happy, then they really do need to be removed from office at the earliest opportunity. There are supposedly 3 developers and two supermarkets in the running, which I would imagine, has to put the council out of the running completely. Raydale isn't a sports and leisure facility for the town. It's a single use football pitch that an amateur team wants to get their hands on. The council would have to be complete nutters to go anywhere near it, as that kind of dosh would build a decent wee sports hall and a couple of five a side pitches on land they already own.

Judging by the council's past record of flinging money at over-expensive projects that the majority of their constituents don't want, need or will ever set foot near I'd expect them to be in there with an open chequebook first chance they get.

Having said that, surely the council cannot be seen to show bias towards any one club in the region in particular, so provided they are prepared to give the same amount of money to all of the Scottish and SOSL clubs in D&G as it would cost them to buy that dump at Raydale for Gretna to use I wouldn't have any complaints
