After getting quickly bored of Euro 2008, I decided to trade it in yesterday, as the shops would drop the price when Euro 08 ends.

Anyway, I've got to say, this game is the most fun on a game I've ever had. Jesus Christ, it's an absolute fucking beast of a game! I'ld played the demo quite alot recently (Which you can play online, download it, its class), decided to get this. I thought that was good, but the full game just brings even more class extras!

The cars, tracks, licences, storyline, everything in Grid World (The singleplayer mode), is absolutly brilliant. The storyline makes it even better. When your 'company' gets to a certain reputation, you get to pick a partner driver. I picked a shite one, as the choices were shite, then straight away sacked him, and found a Scottish guy. The accent on him is fucking hilarious!

The online mode is excellent too, there's a voting system so everyone gets a choice on what region and cars/tracks you want to do. Of course, if you don't get the one you want, search a custom game, and theres bound to be one there. The 'Destruction Derby' with your mates is outstanding too! :D Although my favourite is the Formula '3000' one.

I'ld seriously reccommend getting this game, it's absolutly immense! :D

I got it the day it came out, by far the greatest racing game I've ever played. The 'Grid World' mode is superb, and will definitely take you quite a while to complete and get all the achievments. Gotta agree with you, the accents on the drivers are hilarious, especially the Scottish guys  Online mode is brilliant as well, especially the Destruction Derby, no one bothers about completing the race they just hammer f**k out of everyone else  Brilliant game, recommend it to anyone and everyone :D

I have gone off console racing games since I discovered sim racing games on the PC. Grid is fine, but the over use of the 'bloom' effect in Coddies recent games is more annoying than anything else. I fear that it will be the same annoying 'bloom' in the upcoming F1 game.

This is a screen shot from NFS, with 'bloom' off

and this is the same shoot, but with 'bloom' on. It is used by devolpers to make the game seem more real, and used well it does. Sometimes however it is overdone and gives a false brighting of the game.

Its alright, but its really just the same game that Toca Racer driver one and two were.

Did you actually play the Toca Race driver games? They are very very similar, Grid is just an evolution of those, graphics are a little better (played on a pc at high resolution when the original xbox and ps2 games were out), but it follows the same structure of cars, and the racing is identical.

I have it, its really good, but i am absoultely rubbish at it. Got my own team in it now but i'm a joke. Never been good at driving games so no idea why i thought i'd be good at this. I will stick at it though.

Dale, i'll need to race you at it sometime.

Aye, but the words 'Race' and 'Take out' are easily misplaced these days.

Grid is far too easy for me (even with all aids off), I mind when the first TOCA game came out, and the difficulty of that game drove me mad, but I still managed to win the championship in a Vectra.

Its exactly the same, same layout of cars and career progression, same handling, graphics are better on grid, but apart from that, its almost identical.

Just had my first go on Grid online and I can honestly say I cannot believe how disappointed I am. Not with the game though I'm sure you'll understand, but with the sheer number of absolute c**ts that are completely incapable of racing along side you without deliberately trying to take you out of the race. It's absolutely f***ing ridiculous!

In one race some imbecile joined the lobby and ended up on pole position. He started the race then after the first corner, pulled on the handbrake in the middle of the track, everyone piled into each other and had wrecks, meanwhile he goes on to win the race

It seems to depend on your nationality I've noticed. Brazilians, Spanish, French, Italian and Polish all seem to display this behaviour, to the point where I have yet to see a driver of these nationalities have a clean race.

Yeah, that is incredibly irritating. I've not played GRID online since a wee while after it came out, and pretty much every race I was looking to quit about half way through, due to the lack of actual 'racing' going on. As I said in a previous post on the thread, I didn't mind it so much during Destruction Derby races, as well, the point is to batter f**k out of the rest, but in regular races there is just no need for it all.

I envisage a future of online racing games to include some sort of drive through penalty system to help with this problem. I don't mind so much if it's someone that's genuinely lost control of their car and they apologise for it, but pre-meditated attacks just make my blood boil.

It's like that in all console racing games that I have played, Forza, Project Gotham, Gran Turismo, you name it, it’s . Also the cutting of the rack really REALLY pisses me off. I don’t race console games anymore, as these thing happen to often, and while it does not happen as often on pc racing sims such as LFS and iRacing, it still happens in servers which don’t have proper admins or anti-cheat measures in places (i.e. for cutting a corner)….

…it’s the downside of popular console games, as the number of players increase, so do the number of f**k-tards increase.
