People often go on about players who retired too soon. The players who could have played on and on but didn't. Brian Laudrup spings to mind.

Well, we'd like to ask WHO PLAYED ON TOO LONG? Which South of Scotland players played a few seasons more than they should?

Let's get the ball rolling:

Ding (at Dalbeattie Star).
Rodney Niven (at Saints).

Open to more suggestions. Add to the list.

Cazza Wilson (Threave) should have stuck to playing for the Blue Bell and sundays.

I think Andrew McKinnon played far too long. While he was at Star he looked well past it

In defence to these "has beens", they still playing at this level as they can still do a job for the team they are playing for. Albeit they may be progressing in years but with that they bring experience to the team they play for. If am still kicking a ball when I reach my latter years then I will be more than happy never mind still competing at a decent level.

i think you might need to have a look at teams as kettle doesnt play he coaches shaun and only played against crighton as there was no one else, and as for davie boyd he left abbey vale cause speedy didnt think he was good enough to get a game and big charlie is still a good player dont think any defender in sos likes playin against him. As for dj garry???? he gave that job up about 2month ago so u really need to get the facts right b4 u comment..

think you need to look at what this topic actually is about (PLAYERS WHO SHOULD HAVE RETIRED EARLIER WHEN THEY PLAYED) this web site is just meant to be light hearted banter dont take it so personally.coach kettle what a laugh!oh and was in slippys last night and saw garry playin some tunes!nice spelling of crichton by the way!
