You're not letting go of that Gaz are you?

It still exists in some form because I've recently been working on several projects for North Lanarkshire Schools and also South Lanarkshire College.

Yes - so North Lanarkshire exists, and South Lanarkshire exists.

Lanarkshire certainly doesn't.

Great post, the problem lies beyond just Rangers fans. The UK social scene is fuelled by unhealthy, prolonged bouts of binge drinking. The "drink to get drunk" culture. However, once the inhibitions were lost the majority (not minority) of fans in Manchester did join in with the bigotted chants according to 2 Rangers fans I know who were there.
That is a Rangers problem.

The Majority of Rangers fans were signing those songs from the minute they got off the train in Manchester...............

Nothing to do with drink!!!

Lanarkshire certainly doesn't.

Your ignorance now revealed in all its eternal stupidity. You are referring to the now defunct local government administrative area of 'The County of Lanark'.

The geographical entity of Lanarkshire certainly exists.

Let me know when you need another geography lesson.

I'll take your word for it that they were all stone cold sober when the singing began but there is a drink to get drunk culture in the UK. The sectarian singing is a problem Rangers FC have still to properly address, the tunnel vision approach of "it doesn't happen inside Ibrox stadium therefore it's not our problem" is pretty lame.

Staff at waverley were checking everybodys bag (well apart from mines as I must look trustworthy  ) before we were allowed to get onto the platform so the likelyhood that they were all drunk when they got into Manchester was unlikely.

Also the train left at ten past eight so rather unlikely that any had been drinking before they got on the train (Surely  )

The problem remains, that was some of the worse football related violence I have ever seen in the UK....seems our authorities are either doing what Rangers are doing and blaming everyone else, or as lots on here are doing hiding from ever happening. At least we've found something that shuts Gordon Smith up, however that speaks volumes in itself.

Scotland's shame just is not Rangers, it's also their apologists that have allowed them to get away for years with totally unacceptable behaviour in any normal country
I agree, it's all the old firms fault

worst footbal related violence i have ever seen?

Get back to your knitting circle you neurotic old biddy.

You are just part of the hysterical backlash driven on by your own bigotry.

One of the worst acts of violence I have witnessed was a Celtic fan bottling and knocking unconscious an innocent Hibs fans in Albion Street outside Easter Road.

Celtic are the only Scottish club to have fans subject to a banning order.

Time to move on.

Maybe Chelsea will say it is an element who do not normally attract themselves to the club and who spoke with Scottish and Northern Irish accents, that seems to take the heat off a bit.

Airdrie and Dundee have fans with banning orders.

Fixed it as I must have messed up others quotes with mine.

Get it right. There is AN Airdrie fan with a banning order.
The beautiful game, such a thin line between love and hate...
